Summary:
Scott Brook Cabin is a stunningly renovated cabin with an emphasis on tranquility in the heart of the Catskills, located 2.5 hours from NYC.
Set on 8 private acres surrounded by woodlands, the lodge has 2 bedrooms (+ a day bed) and 1 full bath. Amenities include a hot tub, firepit, and access to the best hiking and dining in the region. The quaint town of Grahamsville is minutes away.
The Space:
Nestled within the borders of the Catskill Park, Scott Brook Cabin has recently enjoyed a makeover, with stunning results. A charming front porch beckons you inside to the open plan living, dining and kitchen areas that make up the initial interior, with exposed beams, towering windows, and the spacious wraparound loft above.
In the morning you might find yourself perched on the stools at the breakfast bar, sipping your coffee while your companion prepares a feast, which is comfortably prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. Go into full relaxation mode and chill on the sectional for movie night (the living room boasts a large, flat screen Smart TV with cable) or get some fresh air and head out to the myriad New York State hiking trails in the area.
A sliding barn door in the living room leads to a generous master suite, which consists of a queen bed, comfortable lounge area, handy walk-in closet and another television. The tiled bathroom has walk-in shower accessible from the master bedroom or via the kitchen.
Upstairs a second queen bed with plenty of closet space, occupies one length of the three-sided loft, while a twin daybed, along with a modern seating area perfect for reading that book you've been trying to find the time to finish, utilize the other two spots.
The sunroom, just off the kitchen, is our favorite room. Sun-drenched and airy, this additional living space, with its walls of windows, is the perfect transition between the house and the grounds. Inside, challenge a friend to darts, roll out your yoga mat or tune in to the big game while still taking in the scenic natural beauty outside.
The outdoor space at Scott Brook Cabin is quite magical. Stone walls abound, with ferns softening the edges of the lawns in summer. A bluestone patio has been created in a sunken spot, almost like a mini amphitheater, and it is here that you will almost certainly gather around the built-in fire pit. The hot tub is a year round attraction, and rounds out the amenity-rich features at Scott Brook Cabin.
The Neighborhood:
Scott Brook Cabin, is located in the heart of the Catskills, in the hamlet of Neversink. This quaint town has lots of explore-worthy hikes and is central to a lot of the best towns in the region. Check out the Red Hill Fire Tower, Slide Mountain or Peekamoose Blue Hole all just minutes away. For dining and drinks check out the Russian Mule, or Piccolo Paese in Liberty. We have a local guide we share with all our guests on the Red Cottage Inc website to help you get the most out of your stay at Scott Brook Cabin.
Getting Around:
Scott Brook Cabin is two hours from New York City. In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads.
