Located on Rt 322 from downtown Jamestown 2 miles on the right. From the Pa line on rt 322 -3 miles on the left pass the Shangri-La campground plus the 4 corners pass the woods. The entrance to the rental located on the west side of the house going into my basement. The house is white with black shutters and the doors are red. You will find a lock box with the last 4 of the cell phone you made the reservation with. Please park by the woods. (Please note there are low heat ducts so I suggest your height be under 6 feet or shorter. ) Please note this is the basement of my home. Many people have enjoyed the convenience of being close to the lake and golf courses and Thiel College.
We were looking for a place close to Pymatuning Lake, and this fit the bill. We were looking for economical, and this was.
The description was mostly accurate. Im 5'7" and i did duck.
Steep steps into the basement, but it was fine. We should have brought coffee because we didn't have enough, but we do like coffee
We had a great trip. The kids really were happy to see swings, a tricycle and sandbox as we were getting out of our vehicle. Once arriving inside there were toys that instantly made them feel welcome and relieved any anxiety they may have been feeling about staying away from home. My daughter loved the jacuzzi tub.
The location is great, on our way there we stopped at Keystone Safari. We also went to Deer Park and the Spillway. We had a wedding to attend in Jamestown which was only 9 minutes away. The proximity to the lake and beautiful wooded property at Norma's is amazing.
When we left we ended up going to Splash Lagoon in Erie before returning home to Pittsburgh. The kids wanted to stop back at Norma's on our way home.
We had a great trip and would like to thank Norma for having such an accomodating place fpr us to stay.
Pleasant and the host IS new to the vacation rental world...
The good:
Quiet even with a main road right next to ya
Dark AF so perfect for peace, privacy and feeling spooky when outside
Secluded enough to feel isolated but close enough to activities and stores
The host is accommodating, friendly and the rental is sufficient
The windows DO open, which was a plus when making bacon in the amazing microwave
The bad:
Parking in the yard since it's muddy and the trees litter your vehicle with debris all day
You don't get the whole house, just the basement, which IS clearly stated in the description
Myself, being 5'3", I didn't have a problem down there with the ductwork (it IS framed in so it's not like it's hanging down), but the ceilings are low and my boyfriend, who is 5'10", had to duck most of the time
The shower is really low, even for me, but I simply heightened it and tucked the head behind the little valve on the hose to hold it in place
The water pressure is VERY low, and I am used to, and prefer, pressure that sand blasts your skin off since the soap rinses completely
The ugly:
The septic, I believe, is in the bathroom behind a little door, so it smelled like sewer the whole time in the bathroom. I just kept the exhaust turned on to try and help combat that.
Need bottled water to drink if you have a sulfur allergy like I do since it's well water
The kids stuff should have been put in a closet or something instead of littering the entire basement
The entrance is a bit menacing since the door is a challenge with the stairs
First and foremost, Norma, the host was so accommodating. She even left a treat on the table and bread for us to feed the fish at the spillway. I had a little problem with the "red door", but nothing serious. We will stay here on our next visit. Thank you Norma for being so nice and patient.
I live here and have enjoyed the area for years. I'm semi retired nurse my hobbies sailing, kayaking, canoeing, biking, walking, pickleball, and fishing. I'm offering this place so you can also enjoy the area.
