. What an unfortunate mistake we made allow this reservation. This was not a normal reservation for someone to stay at 1 of our cabins or cottages. Sara made a reservation for our Ivy Cottage for a commercial video. She said that there would be between 10-12 people on the property shooting the video, coming and going. I explained that we had a small parking area and that it was best to have 4-5 cars max. We also have a 6-person max for our small cottage. So, we overlooked the extra guests and dog. Sara did not even stay on our property. She made the reservation and then after… said, oh my, I see you do not allow dogs. I explained to her that our family cottage does not allow dogs because our granddaughters are highly allergic and we cannot have the dog hair or dander in the home. She asked if we would reconsider. After conversing with my husband, we decided that as long as the dog stayed outside and not in the cottage, we would allow the dog to be on the premise for a small fee. (Obviously there would still be dog hair on our outdoor furniture deck area and possible waste to clean up) we felt a small fee would be warranted. As for a late-night text to pay the balance of the stay, we had never been in that situation before. VRBO had sent numerous notifications to pay the balance up until the evening before that went unanswered. I had no choice but to text her to see if she could pay the balance ASAP. When Sara made the reservation, she said that there would be only 1 guest staying 1 night. This was not a typical reservation. Shooting a video and having an entire video crew and actors on the property is not normal. We have a private gate and security for all of our cabins and cottage, and we pride ourselves on having a safe and private escape for our guests. Unfortunately, Sara was not being truthful though the entire process. You can see looking through all our other reviews that we pride ourselves in giving our guests the best experience when staying at any of our cabins or cottage.
