My 9 year old daughter and I had the most wonderful stay at the cottage. We wanted to escape the city for a week and this was just perfect. It felt like we had entered a magical world next to the stream, surrounded by the woods with gorgeous art pieces to discover in the garden in the house. The land was incredibly private which we loved. We were very well looked after by the host - not only did they leave masks and gloves, but also water and a leaving present on the morning we left. We will definitely book again. Thank you Laura and Steve for everything.
If you're looking for a lush, quiet place to rest, this is it. Situated beside a beautiful river with bursting gardens, the patio is the perfect place to relax or entertain friends.
The home was not cleaned properly. The spoon rest in the kitchen was greasy. Food particles in the cutlery tray, crumbs in the toaster. Clothes left in the bureau's. Outside patio was overgrown with weeds and patio cushions were moldy. We stayed a few days opted to leave when we found another place to stay. We were refunded some of our money.
We had a great stay in Bantam. The house is full of an eclectic mix of antiques and art work. The house is set far from the road and has a wonderful brook running behind it. The vibe is funky and charming. The owners were super responsive and nice.
Bantam is a great base to explore the many beautiful towns in the area. The White Memorial Conservation Center is a few minutes away and has many shaded lovely trails. We walked our dogs there everyday.
Bantam (just outside Litchfield) is a magnificent area during the autumn. The trees around the property and in the entire area were resplendent with color and it was a joy to walk in the parks, preserves, and even in some of the streets nearby. We have stayed in many VRBO/Home Away residences over the years, and we have never encountered an owner who was more available and responsive. The owner, Laura, and her brother, Steve, were moments away both in spirit and reality. The house itself is attached, somewhat quaint, and a bit older than some. It is, at
the same time, quite comfortable. It was great to have our lunches in the outside enclosure and to hear and see the Bantam River flow as the colorful leaves fell.
My 10 year old son, puppy and I spent a month at the property and had a great time. The property is really private, beautiful and even bigger than we thought. There are a huge field, hammock, and lots of comfortable outdoor seating areas. The grounds are well-tended with lots of beautiful wildflowers growing. There is also a basketball hoop which my son used a lot. The house was pretty and very comfortable. We had lots of room to spread out and a very well-stocked kitchen. The caretakers/owners were wonderful. If there was anything we needed or asked about they would find it and were really very helpful and nice. The house is a walk to Bantam, near Arethusa, so you're walking distance to delicious ice cream, baked goods and restaurants, It's not a village where you would walk around town very much, but its very close driving distance to Litchfield and there is a lot to offer.
My sister and I had a wonderful time at Laura's beautiful home.
The house was warm and cozy and we especially loved all the amazing decorations throughout the house. We both look forward to returning in the Spring!
We had the best time at Laura's beautiful farm house. The location was perfect for hiking with dogs (which we did a LOT of!) and the setting of this lovely, clean and very comfortable home was exquisite. Babbling brook, nice big lawn in back and so peaceful and quiet, we would stay here again in a minute. Laura was very easy to keep in touch with and made us feel so welcome-including the adorable signs outside with my name on them. She was a great host. I would recommend this property/owner for the perfect getaway to NW Connecticut!
What a cozy home! This home has a lot of charm ! We enjoyed our stay, and Laura and her brother were extremely friendly! They gave us a sample of some garden flowers to bring home
We had a wonderful vacation at this beautifully furnished place in Bantam. The gardens and terrace were lovely, and we were lucky with the weather. The location is great - lots of wonderful restaurants and shops nearby, but still in the country. One word of caution: there are steep stairs and several trip hazards that could be problematic for small children or elders.
We had a great time with our stay here this weekend. It was my sonâs birthday and we were there for a ski trip. It was close to Mohawk Mountain, grocery store and reataurants. Thanks, Laura
The property was very nice and the owner responsive. Everything need was provided. Other than that, I'd highly recommend the property. It is close to town, there is private parking, and it is quiet. There is Wi-Fi and a chrome cast so you can access Hulu and Netflix.
The property was very nice and the owner responsive. Everything need was provided. The only issue was the downstairs was usually pretty cold while upstairs received more of the heat. Other than that, I'd highly recommend the property. It is close to town, there is private parking, and it is quiet. There is Wi-Fi and a chrome cast so you can access Hulu and Netflix.
Good location. Lovely gardens and field. Enjoyable patio area.
Uncomfortable beds. Ripped, stained sheets. Kitchen lacking in cooking tools and equipment. Old, stained, uncomfortable furniture in living room. Only 6 chairs for table - not 10 as suggested in listing. Some would say âYou get what you pay for.â Owners very responsive to requests. Surprised at all the items we needed to ask for.
We stayed here for my daughterâs wedding, given that her outdoor venue was close by. We had everything we needed. The only thing I would recommend is a clarification in the description that it sleeps 3 couples, not 6 individual people. There were three beds, but not all of us were couples, and clearly, the individuals would not share a bed. We ended up taking advantage of the couch for a bed and getting an air mattress for another bed.
