We had a lovely week here, the house being in the Provencal countryside. Beautiful area and close to Claviers, Callas and Bargemon. The house itself had everything we needed and the dry riverbed at the end of the garden proved to be fascinating at night. Wild boar could be heard through the undergrowth and we saw on several occasions baby boar trotting through with their mother and a pine marten. Alain and Annick, who look after the property, were also very helpful. Highly recommended.
Beautifully restored old mill deep in the French countryside. Loved the outdoor dining with many butterflies and even a red squirrel! Excellent large swimming pool, loved the flamingo. Communication with owner and the local caretakers speedy and helpful. Calles and Claviers nearby, very quaint small villages. Visit to Pistou land next door an absolute treat! Make sure to stop by a supermarket on way in for essentials (shampoo/olive oil etc.)
Lots of critters, as warned, so be prepared!
A little tired in places (eg, towels have seen many washes) and few bits of updating needed on some of the facilities.
This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The house is located in a beautiful setting with lots of trees so plenty of shade, and very pretty well maintained garden. The pool is a great size and perfect for cooling off on a hot day.
The house is beautiful and interesting and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is very well-equipped. Nice comfortable beds. There are lots of books and board games to borrow.
Alain and Annick are very friendly and helpful, and were very patient while we practiced our French. Communication with Andrew was easy and he responded quickly to questions.
Loved watching the beautiful butterflies and red squirrels, and even saw a wild boar that seemed to live in the field beyond the stream.
Claviers was beautiful and we had a gorgeous meal at Le Clavero.
Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to others. Hopefully we will get back one day and next time we will definitely stay for longer than a week.
We really enjoyed staying in the house, which has a genius loci that one could perhaps describe as Villa Malaparte at the creek (not meant to be ironic). It has a very attratctive architectural design.
Anouk an Alain took great care of the house, it was a pleasure to meet them!
Private and perfectly nestled in the valley we all enjoyed the beautiful pool and modern facilities mixed with glorious old olive mill. The magical (and huge) butterflies swooping into the pool were a real treat. Playing cards on the patio and eating from the very well equipped kitchen was fantastic. It had a tasteful bohemian feel with vintage games and books on hand. A gem!
I stayed here for 1 week with my family including young children. We had a fabulous relaxing time enjoying the pool
and staying cool inside the lovely old
house. Lots of great walks close by and very nice restaurant in the village called LâOliviers. Well equipped house and well looked after by Alan and Annick who were also super helpful. Would definitely recommend.
our stay, (1 adult, 2 childeren) was a nice stay at the mill, the location and building were exactly as posted on the website.
a nice frence hideaway. as an architect i saw even more possibilitys to get the most out of the old Mill.
we enjoyed the pool and the sound of the crickets.
tip bring a repellant for the sandflies they are nasty, and come out when it's hot. but still a lovely home for a nice holiday!
My wife and I chose this utterly charming converted olive mill as the destination to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. It turned out to be one of the most cherished experiences in our many years together. The setting is spectacular, overlooking a bucolic stream, with mountain views all around. The home is warm and cozy, just the right balance of rustic character and modern conveniences. Walks to the nearby village, afternoons reading by the pool, and gin-and-tonics on the patio are among our favorite memories.
The Moulin de la Viste was just what we had in mind in booking a place in Provence to celebrate a BIG birthday/anniversary: picturesque, tranquil and with old-world charm, but with modern amenities, including a wonderful salt-water pool.
We so appreciated that the caretakers were there to take our calls as we made our way to the millhouse and greet us as we arrived. The front door opens up onto a large and light-filled great room; the kitchen/dining room is modern and is well stocked; and the bedrooms/baths are clean and comfortable.
The location is great-just a short drive up to Claviers, a charming village. We had a couple of wonderful meals at a restaurant there called LâOlivier. Also, we enjoyed a variety of day trips: the Verdon Canyon (amazing); Grasse/Vence/St. Paul de Vence; St. Tropez and the brilliant blue waters of the coast.
But best of all was just enjoying a relaxing day eating and chatting on the outside terrace by the brook, and jumping into the refreshing pool on hot summer afternoons!
We highly recommend the Moulin.
Quiet and secluded. Very easy to relax and take it easy.
The mill was nice and as described. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and eating al fresco with the bubbling stream in the background.
It is an old building so needs airing out during the day but we slept well and really enjoyed our stay.
Everything was highly organized by the owners and very easy to get to. It is situated off the main road so offers peace and quiet and the local roads are nice to walk along. The local village had a nice bakery and a couple of good restaurants.
Quiet & naturally shady, but with a well kept sunny swimming pool, La Viste has been sympathetically converted.
Space has not been compromised for utility,
For us the proximity of nature was all part of the experience - the climate of the Riviera with the benefits of privacy and elevation.
Many thanks & hope to return,
A & A.
We fully enjoyed our one week stay in this lovely romantic and extraordinary Moulin de la Viste near Claviers. The environment is one of absolute calm and natural beauty, with beautiful medieval villages nearby (and only 1 hour to the sea, where we spent some additional days), and the house is comfortable, fresh, well decorated and fully equipped, and has a collection of table games and records to enjoy with the whole family. The pool is stunning and great fun for kids and adults. The care taker couple Alain and Annick are very friendly and organization of the trip was very easy. We would love to come again!
We had a lovely one week stay in this romantic renovated water mill dating from the 18th century. The place is very special, absolutely calm, in the middle of nature, with all facilities, well decorated, a stunning pool, music records, table games, and everything you need for a relaxing holiday with family. The care taker couple Alain and Annick are very sympathetic and organization of the stay through the owner is absolutely reliable and easy. Claviers is a beautiful medieval town, but there are many more places to visit, the Verdun Canyon, Lake St. Croix, Grasse, and of course the beaches of CÔte D'Azur. We would definitely rent the mill again!
This is not the usual cookie cutter vacation house, it's a beautiful old olive mill that has been converted into a very comfortable home with high ceilings, an enclosed patio like in a Roman villa, and a shaded terrace overlooking a river. The large garden has olive trees and lavender, rosemary, and other typical Provencal plants. There is also a pool that affords complete privacy.
The location is idyllic: tucked away at the bottom of a hill away from traffic but only a ten-minute drive from nearby villages Callas and Bargemon, or a fifteen-minute walk up the hill to Claviers village. It's extremely peaceful yet close to many attractionsâa perfect base for day trips around the surrounding region.
The owner is extremely helpful and quick to answer any questions. We have recommended this house to friends and are planning to go back ourselves!

It was love at first sight. The Mill is ideally located with a shady terrace right on a lovely brook, beautifully restored, simple but elegant and in good taste. There are no immediate neighbors but it is not isolated. At night, one can clearly see all the stars, a rare enough sight in our cities.
Perfect privacy and calm with a large garden. This mill, built in 1776, is as old as the United States of America! The village of Claviers is still unspoiled, unlike many Provencal villages which have been overrun by fancy boutiques and tourist attractions.
