Great location on a beautiful river. It was a wonderful visit for our family, ranging from a teen to older parents. The hosts were great with checking in and communicating through our stay. My only caution would be to be careful with younger kids or swimmers that are more used to lakes. The river is great for swimming and kayaking but there is a current as you move away from the dock.

We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay at our river chalet! As stated it is a beautiful waterfront with stunning views, a private dock and gradual entry. Rivers do have a flowing current that can change throughout the days hence we suggest swimming with young kids closer to shore and never unattended in any water. We welcome you back anytime as we are a 4 season chalet! You were great guests and we’re glad you enjoyed your stay.

Our family of 4 stayed with another family of 4 and had an absolutely fantastic time. The area was quiet and serene, the cottage was immaculately clean and well kept, and the grounds were lovely. The deck was amazing to enjoy a coffee and look at the river in the morning. The river was steps away from the door, and easy access for our young kids with water shoes. You can fish right off the dock, and our youngest caught a fish on our last night there! The hosts were so nice with very prompt communication, and clear expectations of us as guests. If you are considering staying here...do it! You will not regret it and will most definitely have a fabulous time. :)

We had a wonderful long fall weekend! We loved the house and Elizabeth was amazing with her hospitality and thought of every detail! She even had a special treat and gift for our son's birthday which was so thoughtful!

Fall is stunning here at our chalet and we’re so glad you got to enjoy the private vistas of forest across from our private waterfront as well as the kayak! My stay at this charming retreat was nothing short of amazing. The breathtaking views alone are worth the visit, offering a peaceful escape from everyday life. The accommodations were comfortable and well-maintained, with every detail thoughtfully considered. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic stay at River Rose Cottage! The location is perfect—peaceful, scenic, and right by a quiet river that's ideal for paddling in the provided kayaks. Our teenage kids loved swimming, exploring, or simply finding a quiet spot to read by the water. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay, with all the amenities thoughtfully provided. It’s close enough to town to pick up anything you might need with just a short drive, yet isolated enough to enjoy total peace and privacy.One of my favorite parts was soaking in the hot tub at night while stargazing—it was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Mornings were just as special, sipping coffee outside while watching the geese glide across the water. The hosts were absolutely amazing—warm, helpful, and always ready with great suggestions for nearby activities. River Rose truly is a hidden gem—we couldn’t have asked for a better getaway!

Our family very much enjoyed our stay at RiverRose.Elizabeth was very helpful from the getgo, and we appreciated the ease of settling in. The array of cookies left for us was a lovely, and unexpected surprise.One of our party had to work remotely, and the excellent wifi and the desk made all stress free and even enjoyable.The place was spotless, all the appliances worked, it was well stocked with kitchen needs, and the large tv made our movie nights fun. The beds were really comfortable, and the A/C and the woodstove (both needed this late in the summer!) were much appreciated. The tandem kayak made for some splendid lazy meanderings on the tranquil river. And although there were other properties dotting the entire shoreline, it was more private and quiet than expected, especially at the end of the season, with only the occasional water craft drifting by -- mostly kayaks and canoes. At one point, we needed to find live worms for fishing and within minutes Elizabeth had not only found a source but had called them to ensure there would be stock available.The Metro store in Mansfield supplied all our grocery needs. A note to birdwatchers: we were there at the start of the southern migration, and the number of species we encountered was stunning -- not least of which was a pair of bald eagles. The cottage was splendidly positioned in every way. We highly recommend RiverRose!
