The Rabbit Hole - cozy retreat in downtown Travelers Rest.
Welcome to your restful retreat, perfectly located in downtown Travelers Rest! Within walking distance to all downtown TR has to offer: Swamp Rabbit Trail, Tandem Coffee, Topsoil, breweries and more. Tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay, you'll be able to enjoy the restaurants and shops as well as the beautiful mountains and surrounding nature. Not to mention you're just a short drive to downtown Greenville, Furman University or Paris Mountain.
We had to evacuate from the recent fires, previously staying in a hotel. Joy was a lovely host and was so very flexible. The house was so very clean and comfortable. The beds were firm and the house comfortably slept 4 adults but could sleep six easily. It was within walking distance of Travelers Rest and the home was well supplied with utensils and pots. The Rabbit Hole was very well decorated ( like a little English Cottage) with lovely comforts such as extremely fluffy white towels and toiletries. The yard could have used a little TLC, but all in all a great place. Donât pass up a chance to stay in a lovely home away from home thatâs close to all the fun that Travelers Rest has to offer!!!
This review is mixed. The host, when contacted was courteous and responsive. We appreciate her and her efforts. The home was neat and tidy, and the main living area was nicely decorated. I realize this is an older home, meaning there are many elements that cannot be controlled. Noise traveled all throughout the house. We had to ask for an adequate amount of towels - which were supplied when requested. We asked for a hair dryer. None was made available. We did have to go find a store and purchase one. The host offered to pay us back which is appreciated. The half path needs towels racks & a shelf of two. The kitchen is not well stocked. The kitchen and dining area have large lovely windows, but no window coverings for privacy/security. The home is approx .7 miles from downtown Travelers Rest, not as close as we had thought. It is not easy to host which we acknowledge. Host was considerate. We accidently left behind a bag and the host graciously made us aware of this. But numerous oversights/ommissions kept this from being a 5 star stay.
We first stayed at The Rabbit Hole in December 2023 when we were moving to Travelers Rest. When a situation in our home required we move out for a few days for repair work - we without hesitation to The Rabbit Hole and eagerly returned to this place. The house is super clean and the king size bed is spectacular. The layout of the house is great and has everything you will need. It is great to have such a large fenced in area for the dogs. Neighbors are quiet and we encountered no other dogs from adjacent homes while we were there. Conveniently located. Past reviews have commented on the driveway but there is ample room to maneuver so you are backed in and can pull straight out. It is not a big deal at all and should definitely not change your mind about staying at this lovely home. Joy, the host, is the best - super responsive and was so kind as our check out date (on both stays) was a moving target. Thanks again. Highly recommend.
I'm pleased that it had 3 bedrooms one of which had two single beds, but I don't recommend adults sleep on the two singles. They are meant for kids and not that comfortable. The other two bedrooms were nice sized and beds were comfortable (firm). It was perfect for what we needed. The decor was adorable! Location excellent! Just comfortable! What I wish it had was an easier driveway to go in and out of. Very steep! The house is located off of a somewhat busy street so just be careful. The bathroom in the primary room was very small. The only bath/shower is in the secondary/hall bath. There were no outdoor lights or front porch light. My 85 year old mother n law was with us and between the exterior steps and drop off from front porch we had to be very careful. Yes, I could have reached out to owner but time was short and it all went by so fast. If you're strictly about location this is the one. But if you're not that good at backing out of steep driveways....keep looking. I loved so much about this property but as you can tell between the driveway and not having exterior lights....it was a little stressful.
This property was perfect. We were super close to downtown TR but far enough away to have quiet. The house was clean and big enough to give us all our own privacy. I would stay here again when I visit TR.
The house is very nicely decorated and outfitted. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood quiet. It was a less expesive and more comfortable stay for 4 adults than a hotel would have been. Be prepared for a very steep driveway, but be confident, you can handle it. ;)
Great place to stay with pups. Large fenced in yard. House was very well appointed with lots of space. Everything was very clean and updated. Read the most recent review that commented on steep driveway. It is a bit steep, but there is room down below to turn around so you donât have to back out and it was never a problem at all! Road is not that busy. Would not let this deter from booking at all. Quiet retreatâŠ. So convenient to downtown TR. Joy was an amazing host. Our checkout date was variable and she was super accommodating, allowing us to change it several times. Super responsive to messaging. Highly recommend - I would definitely stay here again!
The house was located on a busy road (35 mph) so it was hard to pull in and out of the driveway. It also was noisy at night. The driveway was also very steep. The backyard backed up to a mobile home park and there was no access to the backyard from inside the house. You had to exit the house and use the gate to get into the backyard (this was harder for guests with pets). The inside of the house was clean and well-decorated and comfortable.
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay! The location is close to downtown Travelers Rest where there are so many shops and restaurants. The house was clean, and we had everything we needed. The property owner was quick to respond when we had questions. We'll definitely visit again!
My name is Joy Colby and we are excited to host you and your friends/family! I grew up in Greenville, SC and my family has deep roots in Travelers Rest, SC so we are very familiar with this area and love it very much. There's never any shortage of fun things to do and places to explore in the upstate.
Personally, I love curating spaces that feel like home away from home. A soft place to land equipped with everything you need after fun days of exploring. I hope this space feels like home to you and that all the thoughtful touches make you feel welcomed.
Travelers Rest is where my parents, grandparents, their parents and so on grew up and raised their families. We've loved this little town for a long time and have enjoyed watching it grow into a fun destination with the Swamp Rabbit Trail, delicious restaurants, breweries, wineries, shops and so much more. It's the perfect spot for exploring the nearby mountains and state parks and also close enough to be able to visit and experience Greenville while you're here.
