Relax and enjoy what has become the most coveted spot on the barrier island. This is "The Narrows", where the sand is only wide enough for a single row of homes. You are surrounded by water like nowhere else, for a true island feeling. Out your front door is the emerald green Gulf of Mexico and award winning white sand. And to the east, across Gulf Blvd., is a steady parade of boats cruising up and down the Intracoastal Waterway between Clearwater and St Petersburg, This large one bedroom beach apartment features Travertine floors and marble urns by the bedroom fireplace. It is located on the first floor of the carriage house 100â back from the beach on the courtyard. The living room looks down the walk to the Gulf. Kitchen and bedroom look out at Boca Ciega Bay across the street. Our older guests appreciate the ground floor and no steps.
Room features queen size pillow top bed, air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen, queen sleeper sofa in Large Living area. A washer/dryer on property
Discounts for weekly and monthly rates will not be reflected when booking your room, however, discounts will be granted upon arrival.
The owner is a very nice man, and communicates well. The access to the beach was amazingly convenient. However, housekeeping is poor, also the laundry situation is not ideal for 6 units, there is 1 washer and 2 dryers but 1 dryer doesn't work. They have a sign posted that between the hours of 10-3 you cannot use the washer and dryer because they need it at that time, but I attempted to do laundry on 3 different occasions, and housekeeping left the washer and dryer full all day and night, I had to fold their laundry one time just to do a load of laundry. The property landscaping is hazardous, they have a small row of pavers that go down to the beach access which my husband slipped off of and fell while carrying our 15 month old baby, luckily my husband took most of the injuries and our baby was not severely hurt. There is stuff scattered all down the walk way. When we arrived I had to reach out to the owner because from 15 minutes of crawling on the floor in our unit our babies legs and feet were black. The road noise is almost unbearable and when people are in the unit above you can hear them talking and sounds like they are stomping around. The door leaked water when it stormed. The kitchen window is a piece of plexiglass that is too small and is held in with caulk, which was not sealed so water leaked threw when it stormed. The internet was poor and didn't work half the time.
The 1925 cottage had everything we needed. We had our cousin over for lunch. The cottage could stand some TLC. But was overall, pretty comfortable. Iâm
This queen bed apartment on main floor is in the old carriage house by the road. We had been concerned about road noise going in but fears were unfounded. This is a spacious unit, much preferred to Units 3 and 5 in the main building as only place to sit in these other than the bed is a small dining table and no separate bedroom.
Pictures and Map give an accurate description of the stay. Owner was attentive to communication. Would stay there again. Make sure you have parking situated with Owner before you arrive
Hassle-free process. Received an email a few days prior to arrival with check-in info. A/C wasn't working properly when we arrived and property management had someone there to fix it right away. I had my 7 y/o granddaughter and 83 y/o mother with me. It was the perfect location for all of us. Easy beach access for mom and so close to the beach that the granddaughter could take frequent breaks from the sun. The sofa was ok to sleep on but don't recommend opening the sleeper sofa. I would recommend this property for couples or group of 3.
The place was good, loved the access to the beach. However, if you are on bottom floor you can hear everything from the people above you. It was disturbing overnight when we tried to sleep. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
Such a cute little apartment. My husband and I stayed in the bottom apartment closest to bay and it was cozy and cute. I donât recommend cooking, he really beats up the apartment.
We were concerned about bed confines after seeing a review but actually it was a comfortable firm bed. We sat in the chairs in front of our apartment every morning and had coffee with views of the ocean. The manager, I didnât catch her name but such a sweet lady, gave us some guides for the area. The first day we ate lunch at Aloha on the Go, itâs located in a strip mall just south of apartment on left hand side. Let me say if you like a good Burger, you gotta try the Teriyaki Bacon Burger! Best burger we have ever had! Burger with bacon, cheese, and pineapple inside a Buttery soft Bun. Melts in your mouth! So Good!
We stayed in Apt #1
Its a simple place, care worn from hosting many happy beach goers.
In the 1960âs my grandparents fell in love with The Narrows, where the sand is only wide enough for a single row of homes. Its the most coveted spot on the 17 mile long barrier island known as Sand Key. The Gulf and of the Bay surround you, like no where else.
My sister, brother and I would visit our grandparents. We had the best of both; grandparents that loved us and their wonderful beach house. Our dad was a fighter pilot in the Air Force. We moved around a lot during his career, mostly out west where you could break the sound barrier and rattle the dishes on the wall and nobody cared. My parents always wanted to settle down sometime. In 1966 they partnered with my grandparents to buy this home and carriage house for the low low price of $28,000 with a $120/month house payment. My dad was called to serve in Viet Nam so for the next 3 years we lived here in unit 6 and my grandparents lived upstairs in unit 4. People ask where I am from. Somehow where you attend high school seems like " where you are from". My mother bought a place a quarter mile up the beach and we moved. But this always seems like home. It was too nice to sell. So in 1996 I bought it off my grandparents for $350,000. ($100,000 cash and $2,500/month for 15 years so they could retire and travel to visit all the friends they made hosting 3 generations of families from up north.
We live in Denver and self manage from Colorado to keep expenses down. My 2 sons and now my 4 grandsons get to experience the joy of being with family on the beach. Thank you for staying with us. As property values have soared ( 3.2 million) along with property taxes ($43,000) and hurricane insurance has doubled ( $20,000) it's getting harder to hold on. There are very few of theses old places left. Know that you are a part of keeping Old Florida alive for future generations to enjoy.
Florida Gulf Coast beachfront rentals at Grandmaâs island beach house from the summer of 1925. The large home and carriage house are now converted into 6 Gulf front villas featuring full kitchens, pillow top beds, and fantastic views. Awarded one of the highest scores on the beach by Superior Small Lodging. Kids love an old place surrounded by water. We are small and personable. Gulf of Mexico and private white sand beach are right out your door. Wade out to the shallow sandbar to explore for shells and sand dollars. Or walk across the street to watch the yachts go by and fish in the bay. Old Timers call this part of the island "The Narrows" where the sand is just wide enough for a single row of homes.
Historically, the most beautiful spot on the tropical barrier islands of Tampa Bay between Clearwater and St Pete.
