Come and enjoy a peaceful vacation at the lake! You will feel like you are away from it all! YET - This house is very conveniently located only 7 miles from I-65 and 15 min from shopping and restaurants. There is a grocery store only 5 miles away! Attending a wedding or event at The Barn? We are only 9 miles from the barn. We are one of the closest available properties! :)
Bring your boat! There is a slip just for you at the boat dock. Enjoy our easy and gentle slope to the lake (which is hard to find on Smith Lake!!). If you would just like to catch some rays, lay out on the sun deck. Kayaks included in the fun!
We really enjoyed our stay. The home is perfectly positioned in a tranquil cove but only a few minutes away from the main water body. Access from the home to the dock is only a short walk and the lower outdoor area is perfect for a family gathering. Host was very responsive and accommodating.
My family and I love Smith Lake and this home was an added bonus. Everything from the location, the amenities, and cleanliness of this home, made our trip even better. We will be returning again.
This was our second stay at this property. The owners are easy to communicate with and have a great house on Smith Lake. Weâve saved this place to our favorites list.
The place is very comfortable and decorated so nicely! The owners were very helpful and answered our questions quickly. Loved our stay and plan to come back in the Spring!!
I love that this property is not close to the channel. It was very light boat traffic and no wake where the dock is which made it easy for swimming and fishing. Just an fyi for those swimming or fishing off the dock, dock is extremely hot on bare feet. Or at least it was for us, but it was over 100 degrees when we went. So keep shoes on or do what we did and spread a picnic blanket down on it so it wouldn't burn the kids.
We had a wonderful time at âKennethâs Place!â Everything was so beautiful! We had every amenity we could possibly want. The bed was very comfortable, as was the furniture. Overall our stay was very delightful!
We enjoyed our stay, it was cozy and just a perfect place to getaway for a couple of days for spring break and the house was very comfortable and just what we needed for a little short fun trip! We canât wait to come back!
The House was very clean, which is the most important thing to me. It had the space we needed in the perfect location for the work family. Thank you for making it a great experience.
The location was great! It was peaceful and serene and very quiet. The walk to the dock was just right and there were not too many steps or too steep. The back patio was very nice and the fire pit was a nice touch. The dock area was great and it was very accessible and easy to park our boat and load all of our necessities. The house was clean and nicely decorated and furnished. We are looking forward to our next stay.
Gorgeous comfy home. Advertised as 4 bedroom however, only 3 bedroom with the 4th bedroom being a living room with a bed. However, very comfortable and lots of space. The deck, dock & view are the highlight of this place, a true gem. They have everything you could possibly need to hang out with the family.
With glass blocks used as windows, the property that zero views of the lake. Unaware that 2nd king bedroom had to be accessed by a small spiral stair case.
Overall, we enjoyed our time together, but expected more than we received.
Everything was done very well and appointed and well-stocked. I noticed little bonus things like Ziploc bags in the kitchen. Prepped and set up really great. The little things that maybe need to change are: the refrigerator downstairs does not close. I could see the light on all the time. The door hits the wood to the left. Also, these dang feral cats meowed the entire time and we worried they might jump in the door of the house. We really enjoyed our stay.
The location of the property is very secluded and private which was very nice. It is also very close to a few stores if you need anything. We enjoyed swimming, fishing, and kayaking and not having to worry a lot of boat traffic. They have lovely neighbors. We were a little disappointed that the first floor(main floor) did not have a clear view of the water. The glass block windows obscure the view. Those are shown in the listing, but I did not pay close attention that the top floor(main floor) didnât have a balcony or direct views of the water. The deck on the lower level was nice though. Overall, we had a great time. The hosts are very friendly and quick to respond!
Met the owners on our first full day and discussed property, fishing, history, etc. Great to get to know them personally.
House was a good size for our 6 guests. Boat dock was very convenient if you bring a boat as there is an open slip and the outside to moor an additional boat.
For us it was lacking a toaster and blender but we fixed that with a cheap purchase at the local Wmart. Owners are fixing that minor inconvenience. Great location, 20 minute boat ride to water dining, off the main lake so not too busy for boat traffic. Would return and use again in the future.
We are Blair and Cindy Goodman and we both grew up in north Alabama. Cindy is originally from Decatur and Blair is from Falkville. Blair grew up coming to the lake with his dad and Cindy started coming to the lake when she met Blair. We got married in 1996 and moved away from the area shortly after that. We have lived in Texas, south Alabama (near the gulf coast), Kentucky, and landed in middle Tennessee in late 2004. We live in Spring Hill, Tennessee, just south of Nashville. Both of us work in the field of education - Blair is a high school counselor and Cindy is a former teacher that now works as a manager of content and curriculum with an educational resources company. We have two children, Matthew and Morgan, that are now adults. Morgan is a teacher (at the same high school as her dad) and Matthew works at a restaurant in Franklin, Tennessee. We truly love to travel and have been some to some wonderful places! We are avid poker players, love Alabama football, fantasy football, and love hanging out by the firepit while looking at the lake!
Purchasing this lake house has been a dream come true for our family. It was something we always planned to do but, something we expected many more years down the road. Iâm sure youâre wondering about the name âKennethâs Place.â Kenneth is my (Blair's) father, but sadly my dad passed from this world only three short months prior to its purchase. There was no place my father loved more than this lake. He began fishing here only a few years after the creation of the lake in 1961. By the mid-80âs he had me out on the lake with him often. Some of our best memories were fishing tournaments here from the time I was 13 years old. Actually, the first small tournament we fished together â we won! We didnât win many more after that, but we always had fun together. We fished many of those tournaments into my early 20âs until I moved away after college. Even after that, we would try to make a trip to the lake whenever I visited. Our last memory here together was in May 2022. We rented a house not far from this location. Sadly, dad was unable to enjoy the lake like he used to since the stairs to the dock were more than he could handle. I dreamed of him being able to enjoy a place he could come to anytime he wanted, but we know heâs aware and enjoys seeing his family enjoying the place he loved so much.
This home has several unique features. First - it has an awesome location. We are right on the lake with year-round water, yet we are only 7 miles from the interstate and 15 min from shopping, restaurants, and other attractions. Second - we have a wonderful deck and boat dock that are close to the house. Most properties on the lake have lots of steps and long piers. Our dock is close to the house with a short pier and very few steps. Third - we are in a great location via boat. We are only 5-10 min from Smith Lake Park.
