The apartment was perfect and in a great location. Ron was a wonderful host. We look forward to returning.
Mark and Ron are the perfect hosts. They bring you into a part of the city that they call home, and and give you a taste of their culture. From giving you tips of where to eat and where to explore in the city, to giving you the history of their home and making you a part of it. It is the best, simply said. Thank you for sharing a part of your world with us.
We loved our experience staying at Ron and Mark’s place in the Marigny, and we’ll definitely be back in the future if they’re still hosting.
The Creole home was spacious, comfortable, clean, stylish, and packed with history, which Ron took the time to share with us when we arrived. I also read some of the New Orleans architectural history books they had out, one volume of which was on the Creole Faubourgs, and found more information about the home and ones surrounding it - very interesting and cool to stay in a place with such history. (The rest of the books they had provided were also good - I especially enjoyed the 2019 Frommer’s guide to NOLA and the architectural volume on the cemeteries.)
On top of all that, the location could hardly be beat: The neighborhood is funky and beautiful all at once; I took lots of pictures on our short daily treks to and from the Quarter, which is only a few very walkable blocks away. The house is physically on what is Bourbon St in the FQ, but the street was renamed Pauger north of the intersection at Esplanade, which is a couple minutes’ walk. We love to walk, have long legs, and walk at a pretty brisk pace. I’d say it took us about 4-5 minutes to walk from the house to the beginning of the Quarter, about 8-10 to Jackson Square. The house was very convenient to lots of things we wanted to be close to, and we Ubered to the Garden District, WWII museum, and some cemeteries. We felt very safe indoors and walking outside during the daytime; we Ubered home after dark.
We don’t have cable at home, so we enjoyed having a million channels at our fingertips during the time we spent at the house. My husband enjoyed the hot tub - I probably should have, since my muscles could’ve used the soaking, but I find the idea of a hot tub in summer (especially NOLA heat and humidity) problematic, so I passed on it this time. I’d love to come back for fall or winter trips and take advantage of it, though. The back outdoor space/garden/patio was lush and tropical and beautiful.
I think this was our first experience staying in a home through VRBO in a major city (versus a cabin in rural Montana or Tennessee), and we really loved being able to come “home” to a place full of history rather than an impersonal hotel room. It made those little chunks of time before we left for our daily adventures or after we came back from them deeply satisfying and enjoyable.
Highly recommended! Ron and Mark are great hosts!
We enjoyed this place for many reasons! The location, condition, comfort, and amenities were all top notch and just as described.
Could not have been any better!
Excellent location -- short walk to the the Quarter and Frenchman St. music clubs. Fun and active neighborhood!
The cottage is perfectly comfortable and large. Garden and hot tub are a plus. The owners are genuinely warm and welcoming -- true New Orleans hosts!
We completely enjoyed our visit to New Orleans! This cottage is just perfect and is VERY highly recommended!!
Nice place, nice location
Definitely the feel of an old creole cottage, very clean and pleasant, close to Frenchman street and great breakfast spots! My wife and I had a fantastic time, we’re definitely coming back!
