We had a funeral in Poplar Bluff and needed a place to stay. This worked well for our family for the few days we stayed.

Stormy Stay

We enjoyed our stay at Bluegill. Everything was clean and cozy. The lake is so serene and the hot tub is a whole different level of relaxation. Great getaway.

Great Place for a Weekend Away

Loved the property and the amenities offered. Close to town, but far enough away with a small body of water to feel as if you are getting away. Would stay here again.

Cozy hideaway.

We enjoyed our stay. Everything you could need is available here. It was a little tricky finding, but once you see the little blue signs, Camp Bluegill, at each turn you follow the winding gravel road to the cute house. Great decks looking out to the water is where we had our morning coffee watching for fish to jump.

Wonderful getaway

Cute House with Hot Tub & Pond

Cute house near Lake Wappapello! Not too far from the Ozarks region/Ozark National Scenic Riverways as well, we drove about 1.5-2 hours to check out some spots over there. The house was clean and had everything needed. The deck overlooking the little pond was nice and enjoyed eating lunch out there. By far our favorite part was the hot tub, which we enjoyed both nights we were there and it was perfect. The string lights overhead were a nice added touch.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Beautiful home and land. Paddle boat was a blast. Kids loved seeing the jellyfish in the lake. We could not have asked for a better home to stay in.

Birdwatching 2024

The property was secluded enough to be private. We loved the deck that overlooked the small lake. Very clean, all the necessary kitchen equipment and comfortable beds and baths, and living room area. Myself and two friends were there to birdwatch for several days in the area (Mingo Wildlife Refuge and Otter Slough State Conservation Area).

Camp Bluegill is a beautiful place!

We enjoyed our relaxing stay at Camp Bluegill. The host was very accommodating and answered all our questions quickly. There is so much to do on the property if you are outdoors people. If you prefer to stay inside this is also a great place for you. The view itself is beautiful. The home is cozy and has all the amenities to enjoy an indoor stay as well. The beds are comfy, and I would like to know what kind of sheets they use because they are amazing. Thanks again for everything. Camp Bluegill is beautiful!

Great getaway!

Great place to relax & have fun. Clean, comfortable beds, TV in every room, well stocked for meal prep, bathrobes are even provided, Kids especially enjoyed the paddle boat & fire pit. Relaxing in the hot tub was icing on the cake and peaceful to sit by the pond. Host was accommodating & friendly with easy check in. Recommend for couples or families.

Amazing stay!

This property was absolutely fantastic! The house was warm and smelled good when we first arrived. The surroundings were quiet and peaceful. The host was very friendly and welcoming, and responded promptly to our questions! My boyfriend and I have gone several places for our anniversary, but this was our favorite by far! We look forward to coming back in the future!

The perfect getaway, unplug and refresh.

Amazing property, next to lake wappapello and tons of camping, trails,views and state parks. You have to drive through rural hills that add to the properties allure. Once you arrive you have 2 seperate entraces in which to enter, upon arriving you will be met with a massive secluded property containing multiple areas of recreation and leisure, from the jacuzzi to the paddle boat and multiple decks and private beach, You are guaranteed to be blown away, multiple grills and outdoor lounge areas call you to the outdoors. The home itself is amazing as well, tons of natural lighting, comfortable seating and kitchen that can accommodate a family of 4 easily, for my wife and I it was simply blussful. A good opportunity to unplug and recharge from the hustle and bustle of city life. You.are.also.only.a 2 hour drive from St.Louis and the drive is so.scenic that it really only feels like a 30 minute drive. Every couple or family should visit thos property once in their lifetime to truly experience Missouri in a way like no other!!Lastly, the property owner is extremely responsive and was able to send someone to clean the jacuzzi during our stay, and within 20 minutes!! Top notch service!

Nice, clean home in Lake Wappapello

Nice, clean home. Very quiet! Great for relaxing, plenty of places to sit outside to enjoy the lake view! We went to People’s Beach and Allison Cove to swim, it was great! Good places to eat in town as well! Owner was very communicative and quick to respond. Home was very clean with everything we needed, even ice!

Wonderful Spot

Our family of 10 had a wonderful stay! The host was so easy to communicate with and was incredibly helpful. The house was beautiful, clean and had many amenities. The hot tub and lake were a hit with our children. My husband and I enjoyed the view out the master bedroom window each morning. Thank you! We hope to stay again soon!

Overall good experience

The property was great. We had fun fishing and paddle boating on the property. Close to the lake. We weren’t able to get the smoker to work and the bbq grill was pretty dirty other than those minor issues I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Memories Made

Josh is very easy to communicate with and very helpful! Though it rained a fair amount of time for our stay, we will have fond memories of the home. Our kids enjoyed paddle boating and driving rc boats on the pond. The adults enjoyed hanging on the deck, the hot tub, and the tranquilty of the area. The family really enjoyed sitting on the deck at night looking at all the stars. We played many games and watched funny videos as it rained. The house and property are well represented on the website. Speedy Cone was our restaurant of choice as it had something for everyone. We came to Wappapello to be on the lake everyday with our boat. Josh offered his slip for us to rent at the local marina. It saved us so much work and fit our deck boat perfect. The house had everything we needed and more. I would recommend this rental to family and friends. Thank You Josh for everything!
