Located in Two Rivers, about halfway between Fairbanks and Chena Hot Springs this is the perfect location to get away from town and see the natural beauty of Alaska. Chena River State Rec Area is 7 miles down the road and includes 250,000 acres of wilderness with miles of hiking, cross country skiing and ATV/snow machine trails. Two Rivers has a large musher presence with multiple options for booking that once in a lifetime sled dog ride.
In front of the cabin you will find a 15 acre field perfect for 360 degree viewing of the Northern Lights in all their glory. The view from the front deck is amazing with the Alaska Range in the background on clear days.
After exploring the local area you will not be disappointed coming back to spend the night in a cozy log cabin that was just remodeled in Nov 2022. In the loft you will find a queen and a full bed as well as a couch located in the living room. The wall mounted TV can be positioned as needed for viewing throughout the main floor. Internet is included and is fast enough for streaming video. Come and enjoy the view while you cook with the grill on the front deck!
We loved staying at the place hosted by James. He has been a kind host answering all the questions on time during stay and even helping us with setting up fire. I highly suggest staying at this place if you ever visit Fairbanks. It's a really quiet, well facilitated cabin.
I really enjoyed the quality, quietness and openess of the property. My only concern was a minor cosmetic choice that could effect the less able bodied. Overall, virtually perfect
Loved this pretty cabin outside Fairbanks! Cozy inside, very hot water as much as you need & water pressure is good. Close to Chena Hot Springs, the airport & several dog sledding kennels for a fun day! Host is very communicative and straightforward. We would love to stay again!
If you have the chance to stay here, donât hesitate, book it!! What a perfect cozy, clean and comfortable cabin - thank you Jim and family. The solitude and pristine snowy views are beyond words, and the location is excellent. The cabin is just far enough away from the lights of Fairbanks but close to amazing trails to ski and snowshoe, and to the Chena hot springs.
Stayed several nights hoping for an aurora show. Sadly, it wasnât meant to be for us. We still had a nice Alaska experience with a beautiful wide open setting and a cozy cabin. We even were treated to the mama moose that frequents the property. The owner was very responsive to questions. The driveway was very long and after several inches of new snow, we were glad we had a car with studs.
Charming cabin on beautiful acreageâŠso glad we found this place. Love the log cabin look.
Everything about this short stay was great; wish weâd had longer to enjoy it!
it was perfect and we loved our little cabin! it made for a great home base between different sites and it was the best to cuddle up in when it was snowing or raining!
We loved everything about this cabin! It's a scribed-log style that's beautiful and warm! Very nicely furnished. Good sized loft. Perched at the edge of a large field facing east, it's ideal for Aurora watching. About halfway between Fairbanks and Chena Hit Springs, it's a great location. Our dream vacation came true!
The cabin is 45 miles from Chena Hotsprings and a little less from Fairbanks, remote, but close enough for all attractions. We really liked the comfy beds, how clean it was and being able to see the Northern lights. It had everything we needed to prepare our own meals, and after having read previous reviews, we brought our own condiments and olive oil. A larger coffee pot would have been nice during the cold weather, and the knives need sharpening. The spiral staircase to the sleeping loft is rather narrow and could be difficult for older people or very large persons to climb, for us it was ok. We had an enjoyable four night stay and would stay there again.
Overall stay was immaculate. Cabin retained it's heat very well in -40 degree weather. Water heater definitely out performed & always had hot water on demand. Bathroom was stocked with the essentials and Beds were SUPER comfy .
Great craftsmanship went into building the cabin & outfitting it. Kitchen was fully stocked with any utensiles or cookware needed. Spices, tea, and condiments were a tad limited, so we made a few contributions. A bundle of firewood was provided and was thoroughly enjoyed on our final evening.
We also got to meet the local wildlife, a moose we named Matilda.
Highly recommend this cabin if you're looking to enjoy a beautiful Alaskan frontier.
Loved everything about this cabin. Very peaceful with amazing view. Extremely clean. Plenty of room for our group of 5. The owner was so helpful and friendly. Quickly responded to any and all questions. We spent Christmas there and the inside was decorated for the holidays, which was so nice. Just all around great. Definitely recommend!
This was a perfect cabin with large land. Wish we could stay in and enjoyed the cabin longer. Kp index was 5 on one of the nights and had great views of Northern Lights. Jim was great to talk to as well and quick with responses.
Stayed 3 nights with my friend. We arrived late in the night but it is fairly easy to self check-in. The cabin is very warm and clean, with all the supplies that we needed. We were able to see clear views of northern lights (green and pink) on the first 2 nights by just stepping out of the cabin. It was so breath-taking!
The host is very responsive in replying to our calls and messages. He even helped us light the fire pit in person despite that we called at 11PM in the night. The location is also good. We were able to drive to Fairbanks, North Pole and Chena Hot Springs for activities/shopping, and each of them is about 30 mins. There are stores a few miles nearby too. The host provided very detailed information. Would recommend to my friends!
