Dean is the best! The location and scenery are breathtaking. The tiny house is better than we could have ever expected. Just an all around perfect trip and booking. Thanks!
This rental was great and i will definitely be back. Dean was very helpful and responsive. The property is much better than the pictures lead you to believe. The stream is just steps from the back door and there is a second floor balcony that i was not expecting. I saw no other humans during my whole stay (this was a goal) but i did see lots of deer and turkeys. As a bonus there are 2 trees right near the fire pit that were perfect for a hammock!
This home is super clean and well maintained, secluded on a creek. Dean is very responsive and friendly. Would absolutely stay here again if we ever have a reason to visit this area.
The cabin is an absolutely wonderful place to unwind and escape daily stressors. It is clean and comfortable. Mr. Hay is a great host and provided some fun ideas for us to do while we were there. We plan to do this every year.
Stayed July '23 for our Anniversary weekend. Loved the cabin. Would stay again! Hubby was a little concerned about no AC, but we opened a couple windows and were plenty cool enough.
a most enjoyable, relaxing, cozy spot to refresh our spirits., off the grid and off the beaten path on a road less traveled. so GREAT FULL to have access to such a delightful space.thank you, thank you, thank you.
If you want to relax and unplug from the craziness of your work schedule or daily life, this is the place to go!! We had a wonderful time enjoying the peacefulness and beauty around us. This place is a short drive to OhioPyle and Fallingwaters. We enjoyed both and hit up some wineries too. Great place!
Dirt road to get to the cabin was well maintained with no issues to worry about. The cabin is secluded which created a peaceful atmosphere for us to finish our vacation and rest for our last leg home. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose
We loved staying here for a long weekend. Great location. Had all the essentials (even for cooking) in a cozy space. Perfect for two people! Relaxing and gorgeous views and sounds to get back to nature in the Laurel Highlands region.
Location was secluded and beautiful. The cabin was cozy and perfectly situated from major attractions without feeling crowded. Lovely property and very friendly owner showed us all of the "off the grid" features of the cabin! Would definitely recommend to others looking for a quiet time in the woods.
This was just what we needed before the start of a new teaching semester. Everything you see in the photographs is just what you get. Dean seems to be very conscientious about the environment which we really appreciate. The property is well cared for and secure, and if you want an escape from the typical onslaught of life, this is a great place to get it.
This cabin is the perfect place to escape the craziness of life. There is complete privacy with only the sights and sounds of nature. The cabin is immaculate, well maintained, and had everything we needed. It's an extra bonus that it is environmentally conscious. We enjoyed exploring Confluence, Ohiopyle and Mount Davis. Often times we had the trails/ roads to ourselves.
We loved this place. Its secluded, beautiful location is exactly as advertised. The house itself is perfect for two people - clean, comfortable, with a complete kitchen if you want to cook. The off grid system is an interesting concept if youâre curious about the idea. If not, youâll never know itâs not on grid.
This was an absolute wonderful getaway. The cabin was perfect. It was clean and well stocked. The bed was comfortable. Best part was the fire ring by the stream and listening to the water all night in bed. We had a storm but enjoyed watching it from the balcony. Can not wait to go back! Highly recommend if you need to get away and be stress free! Oh and the view from every window...fabulous!
Excellent cute cabin. It is super clean and you can enjoy the sound of running stream and all kinds of bird songs. Very relaxing. The only thing is the cell coverage. It's not just this cabin; it's in general the cell coverage is not great in that area (at least for me). If you have wifi calling/text, it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience.
Rusty Perch was an amazing experience. Tucked away in a quiet cool hollow next to a crisp running stream it offered much needed downtime and a salve for the soul.
Mostly, I was there to unplug and I ventured out for rafting, kayaking, hiking and biking. Nearby, there were plenty of beautiful pastoral vistas, a rail trail and the gorgeous Youghiogheny river. .
When I needed to plug-in I was able to work remotely on the Wi-Fi. connection. Video and voice calls were no problem.
The cabin remained cool, around 76 degrees, in the heat of late July. Clean bedding made for amazing sleep during the cooler nights.
One interesting note is that the cabin super efficient. The hosts have really done their homework. Stream-powered electric and clean UV-irradiated stream water were just a couple of their efforts to ensure that the cabin's environmental footprint was small. I was very impressed
A very well-equipped kitchen and a great gas stove provided me with all the space and gear I needed to cook great meals.
The hosts were communicative and accommodating. I can't express my gratitude to them enough for the opportunity to visit this property.
This tiny house is powered by a hydro electric system. The nearby stream supplies water to turn the hydro generator. Electricity is stored in batteries until it is needed. The electrical usage in this house has been greatly reduced due to a number of decisions in how the cabin is used. We have chosen to have a propane refrigerator, stove, hot water heater, and heat for the cabin. These appliances have helped us to greatly reduce the amount of electrical usage. We have also used only LED lights throughout the cabin. Due to our choice for low electrical usage we have opted NOT to have a TV, microwave, toaster or coffee maker. (For your coffee we have a French Press.) You can bring your own laptop or other devices to watch online media if you really feel the need, but we encourage you to unplug and enjoy the beauty that is all around you. Our cabin has a regular 110V house system. Thus you can bring you things like laptops, CPAP machines or other devices that you use at your home, but please keep in mind we are trying to use as little electric as possible. If too much electric is used then the batteries will completely discharge and you will need to wait for the batteries to recharge before electricity is available.
