Thank you for your feedback and your suggestions about improvements we can make. We have already replaced the ceiling fans throughout the house - we regret that there was a delay in the installation date and they were not in place prior to your arrival as they should have been for the summer months. The knob for the indoor shower has been tightened and is working well, along with the outdoor shower on the deck. We are upgrading the BBQ and kitchen utensils based on your suggestion for ways to improve the experience. An electrical surge was responsible for the Internet issues that you experienced and we are working on installing a new system for guests to have more reliable internet but the island and house are very remote so there are challenges. We encourage guests to bring movies on their devices to be able to enjoy during their stay. Atlantic vs Caribbean: The question of whether the Atlantic side or the 'Caribbean' side of Eleuthera is preferable is entirely personal. 80- 90% of guests prefer the Atlantic side due the extraordinary beaches and SE trades which generally result in far less bugs than on the western side. If one prefers the Caribbean side there are houses to rent there also. Wind can come from both directions- for the last 3 weeks of March it has been like a lake on the Atlantic whereas the 'Caribbean' side has had constant winds of 15-25 knots. One of the advantages of the middle of Eleu is that it's only 1/2 mile wide so you can easily enjoy both sides of the island without travelling far. Location: Many guests love this location and choose not to rent a car because we have 2 of the island's best beaches (ex-Club Med(5mins walk) and Twin Coves) on either side and it's only one and a half miles to Governors Harbour and a 15 minute walk down the beach to the Beach House Tapas restaurant. Maintenance: Concerning remarks that we don't put money into the property guests may not realise that - because we are an estate far from the subdivisions (the only inhabited property on the whole beach) we paid huge amounts of money to have underground electricity installed and also to install our own water lines across the island. As explained in the info binder the rust stains on the new bed linens, toilet and shower were not from dirt but from the old rusty pipes. We campaigned for a long time with the government to upgrade the pipes and this was completed in the first week of March 2011. We also replace most of our appliances every 2-4 years and have regular plumbing and electrical repairs and gardening work done. The china plates and glasses and the pots have been upgraded (the plastic ones had been added in addition to the china at the request by parents for kids). The broken screen has been replaced. I agree with the review that the exterior needs to be painted. As I explained to them the job was scheduled and then the weather didn't co-operate so it had to be postponed so that it was not being done while guests were there. I respect people's desire for privacy and had to wait for a time which wasn't booked. It's currently re-scheduled for 16 April (weather permitting). We are also adding another beach cabana. A lot of effort, love and TLC have gone into and continue to go into this deeply loved place. I encourage you to read the reviews from other guests

We are devastated to receive a review that is anything less than excellent for our property and deeply regret that these guests did not love the property as much as they expected- we regret that they did not look at all the photos of the house prior to booking it. We will continue to make improvements and upgrades and we encourage potential guests to read the 45+ excellent reviews of the Round House. The Round House is not for everyone, it is rustic and unique and has an open floor plan which was clearly not a good fit for these guests. Most guests find it very charming and secluded and never see another person during their stay. Please consider staying elsewhere if you looking for a cookie cutter condo experience or if you are panicked about the possibility of anyone seeing you (even though there is no one around- save for the 2-3 car per DAY that may drive by on the single track sandy beach road). The cabana has trees and shrubs on 3 sides and opens to the beach and ocean to the east. A new row of shrubs was planted this year and will grow in to make the area completely blocked off to the west in a few months. If someone was walking along the beach they would be able to see into the cabana. We get perhaps 2 people per week walking the beach. There are 11 foot arches on all sides of the house to see the ocean and let in the breezes but all the sliding doors have curtains for privacy. To say that the house is not private is very misleading indeed- perhaps the curtains weren't utilized? Please note that they are not black out curtains. The house does have a very open design however and you can lie in the bed and look out towards the sea and garden but you won't see any people. You can see the bed from the living room and the living room from the dining area etc. We have a 14 acre estate and there are no other buildings visible except for a house next door, lived in (90% of the time) by the owner, a single woman who keeps to herself. No one next door is spying into the Round House bedroom from some upstairs window- to think otherwise could be seen as paranoia. The toilet area of the Round House bathroom is around a corner and behind a wall. You can only see the toilet if you are inside the bathroom. There is not a separate door enclosing just the toilet area.
