This place is bare bones! If all you need is a place to lay your head, this will work. The towels and bedding were supplied and very clean. But, itâs not comfortable. It is close to Jay and we needed a place last minute which is the only reason we stayed there. But, we wonât stay here again. It is too expensive for being a finished basement. The entry door (to the small mudroom) is practically falling off the place and canât open fully due to frost heaves which have lifted the pavers (which serve as the floor of the mudroom). The beds are essentially cots with mattresses. The couch is uncomfortable. The kitchen was fairly clean but tiny. Thereâs a small stove. No microwave. The flooring was never finished so thereâs gaps in flooring between of some rooms which traps gunk. Disgusting if you have a toddler. It is drafty. In the living and kitchen area, cold drafts come through (granted it was 5-15F during our stay) so we turned up the heat to 70. But, then the bedrooms are sweltering â it read over 80F on our baby monitor. The heat is forced hot air so it was VERY dry. Bring a humidifier.Further, it is managed by Vacasa. Every time I have stayed at a Vacasa rental, the door code gets changed midway through the stay without telling us. So, we were locked out of the place in 15F weather. Fortunately, I was able to get in touch with someone from Vacasa within 10 minutes for the code.
I am not one for negative reviews and realize hard to maintain, manage properties. But it is "on the market" as a rental and you have an obligation given that to manage a few things well for your customers. That is clearly not being done with this property. What started as likely pretty mediocre quality "camp" like structure has significant deferred maintenance issues. The outside entry way is essentially plywood, frost heaved pavers, peeling paint. The door was flapping in the wind when I pulled up. Because you can't close it! The inside continues the pattern. Exposed ceiling tiles, thresholds, filthy windows, filthy baseboards, rotting window sills, serious signs of moisture issues, and overall a permeating smell, i.e. reek, of mildew / mold. It keeps going downhill. The utensils in the kitchen are a grab bag of castoffs. There is zero storage, no dressers, no closets. The rooms are tiny. The bed was poor, the blanket / comforter poor.
The downstairs unit is subject to constant noise from the upstairs unit. It's as if they are in the unit with you. At times you can even hear conversations. You definitely hear every significant movement.
What supposed to be a 2 night stay, one by myself and one where my wife joined me got canceled. I could not bear the idea of another night in the place, certainly was not going to share it with anyone I cared for.
Ideally it would be taken off the market. The idea that Vacasa, as a premium partner, represents this property is disturbing
Perfect location for viewing the total solar eclipse. Great views, a field next to property for walking the dog, close to Montgomery Center, full kitchen a plus. Clean, comfortable. Entrance a little funky, could be fixed up a bit. We enjoyed our stay.
The last review mentioned a chewed up spatula, it's still there. It's a listing for 4 people and yet all the kitchen items are missing at least one item (only 3 plates, 3 cups...). We had an issue with the smoked detector going off during the night, they said they came and took care of it but we were awaked again at 2AM with beeping (no fire or smoke notification more like dead battery) and they responded they would take care of it but for the two remaining nights we had no smoke detectors. The entry/mudroom needs to be torn down and the place looks clean upon arrival, until you look closely. Although described as economical, I would say this is an overstatement.
Great location but cleanliness could be improved on. There was dog fur on our bed and cooking tools that had clearly been chewed on. Bathroom was nice but again, really dirty spots. Hot air didnât distribute evenly, walkway was a sheet of ice and not sanded or salted.
Last, my son left an important item behind and Iâve tried several times to reach the property team and no response or answers or give me a generic answer.
Quaint property with small town feel. You can really obtain some peace and quiet out here especially during summertime. Full kitchen/wifi. Multiple hiking trails nearby and it's central location in Northern VT makes it about an hours drive either direction from any major attractions (Burlington, Stowe, Lake Willoughby , Newport etc.)
We wanted to bring our dog and ski at Jay Peak. The apartment was clean with new floors. The kitchen is adequate and the bathroom is brand new. The beds are comfortable and the access to the field was good for our dog and away from the main road. We totally enjoyed our visit and hope to return next year and perhaps use the whole house with friends. It is 5 minutes away from the Stateside lodge, easy!!!
The perfect Jay Peak spot to get some quality time with just your family and friends. Peaceful and quiet away from the crowded hotels at Jay. Only 7 minutes from the mountain, you are already there and have an entire house/land all to yourselves. Itâs perfect for a ski trip with quality time with your people after the last chair.
