Our host, Carlos, was extremely helpful and welcoming! He greeted us the first day to show us around the property, and introduced us to the house staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional! Carlos was in contact with us during the stay and helped us organize a day at Playa Bonita,,,,above and beyond expectations.

Caribbean Hill Top Paradise!

Carlos and Arlettes home on a hill top in Terrenas is a gorgeous, comfortable, well-designed home that we would recommend for any type of group. We spent a week there with two families with young kids and enjoyed immensely all aspects of the house: the pool, the spectacular view and the beautiful home. The house is taken care of and cleaned every day by a wonderful group of care takers. One of the most special aspects of our stay was hiring Maribel as our chef for 3 nights of the week to cook incredible, fresh Dominican food. Carlos and Arlette were incredibly responsive and helpful to us showing us the way to the aptly named "playa bonita" which is a stunning beach with small waves that were perfect for the kids, chairs to sit on under the shade of palm trees and an incredible view. We had 5 young children so we spent most of our time between the house, Playa Bonita and a kid friendly restaurant on the beach called the Mosquito which was perfect for us but it also seemed that there would have been much more to explore on Peninsula Samana! We would highly recommend to anyone and hope to return some day!

Peaceful and beautiful

Our 7 days were wonderful. The house is beautiful; the furnishings and artwork so tasteful and the view from the deck chairs spectacular! Maribel was especially lovely, making us dinner one evening. And for our five year old a calf was born one night—-how perfect is that. Thanks Carlos!

Tropical Paradise!

A beautiful villa with swimming pool and panoramic views. Set on a hill it is secluded so gives complete privacy but also very close to the local town, with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and beautiful beaches. We had an amazing stay, the place and local area was very safe and Carlos was an excellent host. I would love to return here and I very highly recommend this place.

Wonderful!

We stayed for 10 days but could have stayed much longer! The villa, the setting, Marybelle and Lugo, all lovely. Just a short walk into town where there plenty of really good restaurants. The beaches are excellent and suitable for surfing. We could say a lot more but really, if you are looking for a break in the Caribbean region, then you will be hard pressed to find somewhere as agreeable as this wonderful villa.

Amazing

A group of 6 of my close friends friends stayed here over the span of 4 days and had one of the best trips of our lives. The staff and owner did a tremendous job and we would definitely come back. My only recommendation would be if you are renting by a car to map out where the house is so that you have a good understanding of where to go as there are no addresses. It is best to arrange someone from the house to drive you to and from the airport.

Perfect vacation house and staff

I highly recommend this beautiful four bedroom vacation house. It's beautifully furnished with artwork and updated facilities. The house is perched up on the hill, the large surrounding grounds in the gated area felt very safe with amazing views of the surrounding hills and ocean. We enjoyed our meals overlooking the ocean. Each night we sat and drink wine overlooking the beautifully lit pool and peacefully lit landscape. The master bedroom upstairs felt very secluded from the rest of the house and even had its own balcony and Hammock. The staff was excellent. They went to the market to help us pick out local foods and cooked almost all of our meals. Their cooking was excellent. Lugo was very helpful and would drive us around the area to different excursions. The beaches seemed a little far to walk to so we would use his services to get to the many beautiful local beaches. We highly recommend the horseback ride to the waterfall. We also did zip lining and scuba diving which we loved. The owner was very responsive and available and helpful. Although the surrounding area is poor this house felt very safe and modern and we enjoyed our vacation very much and will be back.

Very special retreat

A wonderful and very special getaway. The house is a work of art. And filled with works of art! How beautiful. And Lugo, Maribel and Nanny were lovely. Amazing food. Great way to experience the culture of the DR and Las Terranas in total luxury.

Incredible house, incredible location!

We (4 adults and 4 children) just had an amazing week at the villa. Everything is just as described. It was very easy to communicate with Carlos, the owner, and yes, Maribel, and Nani are great cooks!!! I could only repeat what is described in the other reviews already.

Love at first sight!!!

It was love at first sight. My wife saw the house at homeaway and couple of hours later we had rented it and booked the flights. We rented the house first in June and came back in September. My whole family, 6 of us, spent 11 amazing days in Las Terrenas. The owners are great people who spent a lot of time on the phone and in emails making sure we knew all the local tips and activities. They were very conscientious about making sure that everything worked perfectly. First of all, the house and grounds were exactly as it was described to be in the way of comfort, beauty, location, walking distance to all places, privacy and security. Maribel and Nanny, the housekeepers were lovely and very accommodating. Maribel is a wonderful cook, a real chef! - you will love her meals. The house is spectacular. We wanted to go for some excursions but at the end we stayed the entire time at the villa, its chill out areas, the pool on top of this little hill overlooking the ocean. We never before had such a wonderful experience of freedom and peace. Everything is in walking distance. Even though, once you reach the villa on top of this beautiful hill you feel far away from everything, a real hideaway with pure privacy and in walking distance back to life. Normally the other villas in this peer group we checked out are too far away from town and its wonderful restaurants and night life. This vila is more a estate since the plot has more than 300,000 sq ft. We will come back, hopefully very soon. Please keep it the way it is…..wonderful..!!

Amazing place!! Fantastic sea view

My wife and and I were looking for to get out of the tourist crowded Punta Cana and we decided to go to Las Terrenas for 1 week. We rented this beautiful house for 1 week from October 25th until Nov 1st. The place is fantastic. Super interior design. The master bedroom is a gem for a couple on the second floor with its private terrace. The pool overlooks the sea. The view is great! On top of that there is a maid and a cook :-) Super quiet on top of that and at 2km from las Terrenas restaurants. Happy client!

more than a villa, wonderful. next year again

We have never stayed at such a wonderfully architecturally designed, superbly situated, open and inviting, entirely relaxing house as this before. My wife and 2 children came from Germany to visit the DR. We only booked for a long weekend to see Las Terrenas and the waterfalls at Limón. But once we arrived at the villa we immediately contacted the owners in order to stay longer. From 3 days we finally stayed 10 days and we were lucky that the villa was free. For us the most important detail was the great help that we had there; Maribel and Lugo and the rest of the crew, 4 people in total. We had such a great time with them cooking together, laughing and making us feel at home. The view was so great day after day. It is more than a villa, it is a little ranch since we had the chance to eat mangos from the Mango-trees at the property which has more than 30,000m2. The location is perfect since you can walk down the little hill to the town and to the beaches. The beaches are stunning. Must go: Playa Bonita, Playa Cosón and....and.... Our stay there was so special. We already booked for the same period next year. Great!!!!!!!!!!! And thank you!

We will be back

Oustanding---we want to come back Las Terrenas has so much to offer and CASA LOMA is simply magnificent. The location is superb, very close to all the important places and in walking distance to beaches and supermarkets. It is truly an amazing home, but more importantly, the wonderful people taking care of us, was the most important thing for us. Maribel, the absolutely incredible housekeeper took such great care of us. Maribel is a wonderful cook and Lugo, her husband, helped us to find the right places to rent bikes, cars etc. The whole staff took such great care of us - from meals, to laundry to just about everything. We have never experienced such a wonderful 5* vacation.   The home itself is the most beautiful home we have ever seen. What a great infinity pool to relax in and see the ocean. Thank you so much for making our time down there so wonderful. We will be back!!!!!!!

Best rental ever!

We have rented various villas in Las Terrenas in the last 6 years. But this house is breathtaking and for us the best we ever lived in. We heard that this house has been in various magazines and we pretty well understand why. The ambience is unique. We chilled the whole 10 days and the pool area is for sure the most spectacular pool in Las Terrenas. We loved the location, everything is in walking distance and you are downtown without the sensation to be so close. The property is so large and with the villa on top of a wonderful little hill overlooking all beaches, you feel remote from everything. The house itself is very well maintained and the family who took care of us is priceless. Maribel is a wonderful cook and Lugo took care of every single details. For sure, we will come back asap. Perfect stay over New Year's holiday 2013/14

We considered several housing options for our New Year's week vacation in Las Terrenas. As soon as we arrived and saw this beautiful house, we knew we had made the right choice. There was plenty of room for us, we were six adults and one child. The pool area is breathtaking. The home is beautiful. All the amenities you would want in a vacation home are available in this house. Maribel and Nani make delicious breakfast every day and attend to all your household needs. You can purchase everything you need at the nearby supermarket and the ladies will cook for you. Be sure to buy fresh fruit at the adjacent produce market because the ladies will make fresh juices for you! If you need an airport pick up/drop off, Lugo has a reliable truck to transport you. Las Terrenas has beautiful beaches and many restaurant options. Carlos is very informative and responds quickly via email so feel free to ask him any questions regarding the house or the area. We had a wonderful time in this lovely home, it was hard to say good bye!

A true "homeaway" from home...

From the minute we saw Lugo's smiling face at the Santo Domingo Airport to the moment we tearily said goodbye to him a week later - it was wonderful. The house is exactly as it appears in the photos - the pool is an oasis. The whole house is fresh and bright and beautifully designed. It is easy to relax here. There are many relaxing places inside and outside - easy to be alone (on the hammock upstairs) or right in the middle on the outside patio. We are a family of 5 and were very comfortable in the space. We only used 3 of the 4 BR's - but they are all beautiful. The property was spotless and very well maintained. The owners were always very responsive (especially as we struggled a bit with not being spanish speakers). The views of the rolling hills and ocean a bit in the distance were great. We were able to walk to town - to market - but was too far to walk to the beaches. But, Lugo was always happy to drop us off anywhere that we wanted to go. We rented ATV's which was a BIG hit with our older kids. Unfortunately we only really had 4 of the 7 days of SUN! but we were still happy to be away from our crazy urban life in NYC despite the rain. Lugo took us to a wonderful waterfall and arranged a guide and horses! We rented a car one day to get to the other side of Samana - which was quite a long drive but worth it to see the Rincon beach of silky sand! I would recommend this property to people who would prefer to hang at a beautiful house, swim laps every day (as I did!) and enjoy wonderful meals prepared poolside. A great addition would be a ping pong table, or outside games for young kids to do, while at the house. DON'T SELL - we hope to return next year!

This place is a gem!

We just came back from Las Terrenas and we had an amazing week. The villa is as beautiful as it's shown on the pictures. This place is super clean and very welcoming. Being on the top of a hill, you can enjoy a refreshing breeze on the hot sunny days and are just far enough from the city to still enjoy calm night on the weekends (the city can be very noisy at night). Maribel, Nanny and Lugo were very kind to us and we were a little sad to leave them at the end of the week. Lugo drove us to all the nice beaches around town and they were always beautiful, never crowdy. We were there with our two young daughters (3 and 5) and they had as much fun as we had. We will definitly go back one day. Also, Arlette and Carlos made the communication very easy. They had nice tips and always made sure everything was fine. I will recommand this place to all my friends and family for sure!

We can't wait to go back!

My family and I stayed over the Christmas holiday and we had a fabulous time. The house was a “10”- clean, comfortable, and containing all the amenities a family of five adults could ask for. Positioned on a hill surrounded by mountain tops, lush vegetation, and ocean views, we were greeted each morning with breath-taking sunrises, which were followed by delicious breakfasts (compliments of cooks Maribel and Nani). This house, and vacation, had something unique for everyone: The excellent service and caretaking were favorites of our mother, who finally got to relax on a vacation. Lugo’s hospitality, patience, and service were favorites of my non-Spanish speaking father, since he was able to learn about a new culture, city, and people, despite the language barrier. My sister’s and brother’s favorites were the house’s amenities- watching the sunsets while drinking fresh-made juice cocktails in the pool, to having the option available to return to “reality” and watch the football games on TV, all within our own private luxury. To quote my 23 year old brother, “This house is unreal”. My favorite aspect was the whole experience- working with the owners, Arlette and Carlos, was a pleasure; they were always quick to provide answers to my questions, along with a lot of helpful suggestions. Lugo and family were amazing- I cannot speak highly enough of them. We were close to a few surf spots, too. The house was perfect for our family to spend time together comfortably, which is important now that we have grown and no longer live close to one another. We hope to return next year to have another amazing experience.

We love our but due to the fact that we live in various places, the house is too beautiful to stay vacant various months.

We went for holiday and fall in love with Las Terrenas and this unique house. Las Terrenas is very special and we love this mixture of Carribean and European ambience.

The views are spectacular. You are so close to all, but you feel very private in this large property (330.000 sqf land) and the staff is the guarantee to enjoy your holiday.
