The Villa area is ideal with restaurants within walking distance although the villa Chef service was amazing.Very welcoming, check-in and check-out was simple and worry free. The Villa itself was spacious with great common areas and fantastic dinning area for 14 people. The 3 pool side accommodations were amazing.The Master Bedroom was "over the top" with a huge living room which was never used. The 2nd bedroom was clean with multiple beds. The 3rd bedroom with twin beds was clean but best suited for kids and not for adult couples. The final stand alone accommodation close to the pool was also small with only a Queen bed. With 7 adult couples there will be an inequity in room allocation that needs to be considered if its for strictly for couples. In-room safes were not operable during our stay which made securing our valuables difficult.All said, this is a great villa which we would not hesitate returning to in the future.Corrado

great house!

The house is great! lots of space to hang out. One thing to take note is that there was only 4 pool chair lounges and we were 10 people. The lounge cushions are very old, torn and stained and should really be replaced. So this made lounging around the pool difficult and uncomfortable.

Great location and facility. It was away from the typical tourist area which is what we wanted. We had some members which were able to bridge the Spanish to English translation gap, but, when you want to be away from the tourist traps, that is the price you gladly pay.

Hidden Gem

We had a group of 11 ranging in age from 5-74 and all had a wonderful time. The house offered plenty of room for family gatherings and spreading out. We made great use of the pool table, pool, and tennis courts. Being ocean front was incredible, and proximity to other restaurants and bars gave us some variety and more fun. Our three 10-year-old boys loved surfing every day with boards rented from right next door - a welcome surprise. The food was excellent and the staff was most accommodating.

Incredible

We had a group of 16 friends in our 30s staying here and we had an absolutely incredible experience. The Villa is a stunningly beautiful compound with unique architectural features and amazing art throughout. Communication with Christophe was excellent and the staff, chef, were amazing. Food prepared was delicious and we absolutely loved the location directly on Playa Bonita. We loved how close it was to other cute beach bars, like Mosquito immediately next door. This is not a super touristy area and we loved the laidback, bohemian vibe. Would not hesitate to stay again and we’ll all be telling our friends and family about our wonderful stay. Feel like a millionaire in DR

The villa compound was spectacular, the architecture was beautiful and it was a great value given how many people it accommodates. The location right on the beach is fabulous, and the end of the beach is sheltered so the water is nice and calm. The chef was absolutely amazing, he cooked every meal, the food was outstanding and it saved a ton of money vs. going to restaurants. The only downside was that not everything was in great condition (e.g., tips missing from pool cues, not enough hot water to use the only tub). If you come with an infant, bring a crib mosquito net.

Very hospitable and beautiful property

Had a phenomenal time here. Truly the pics don’t do this place justice. The chef included was very kind and accommodating to all of our needs. We all miss Jan dearly. Our host Christophe was very attentive on providing us with the tour we did have an issue with running out of water but it got quickly fixed. Would highly recommend this place. We had a total of 17 people and it was enough space for each of us to have our own secluded area I would say though if you are more than that or more than 7 families it would be challenging but for us it was just right we were able to make work the 7 rooms for the 7 families. Will certainly come here again :)

Dominican Home Away From Home

We wanted to take our family on a beach vacation and this villa was a perfect fit. The layout was lovely with everyone feeling like they had their own private space to relax yet several common gathering areas to enjoy as a family group. The villa was very clean and the fact that we could walk right out to the beach was amazing. It quickly became a family routine to walk out to watch the sunset each evening. Our chefs were outstanding! The food was delicious and their hospitality made us feel right at home. There were a few minor maintenance issues that arose during our week long stay, however, both the property owner and the management staff were prompt in assisting us and resolved the issues quickly. Will definitely consider staying here again should our travels bring us back to the Dominican. Thank you, Christophe, for sharing your lovely villa with us.

The Lehman-Rice Wedding celebration

We can’t say enough about our stay at the villa. The house is amazing and the apartments beside the pool were beautiful as well. The grounds are impressive and well maintained. Jesus and Fernando were just the best! Every morning greeted us with fresh coffee and an extensive breakfast every day, but every day something different from French toast to pancakes to fried eggs or a scramble! You will need a translator app to discuss evening meal plans but not a real issue, and each night was delicious and satisfying. We downloaded the Komada app to order wine and snacks which worked really well for 500 peso delivery fee.. the chef deals with pesos, and every morning you settle up from the day before. For a family of 11 adults and 5 kids, we averaged about 13,000 a day so I would bring plenty of pesos down with you. There is a cash machine next door but it’s a 50.00 fee to withdraw cash! Just for reference sake, we didn’t really know what to tip at the end of our stay so we gave the chefs 900.00 Us and the cleaners 175.00 as we only had them clean our room 3 times. All in all, one of the best vacations we have ever had as a family and will definetly be coming back!

House was in worse condition than the photos and three of six bedrooms had cash that went missing

The pictures of the villa are nicer than the real thing, including the tennis court which we could not use (the lines were gone), lack of hot water and pressure, and the electricity that went out multiple times before the electrician connected to the permanent backup. Notwithstanding compared to having $1500 missing afyer the maids cleaned our rooms from three separate rooms by the pool, the issues with the house seemed minor. Please do not leave your valuables, especially cash, unattended for a moment, even when you are in the house like we were. I always took my belongings with me when we left so I know that the cash went missing while we were there. I contacted the owner and they "searched" the staff but predictably found nothing. We were told there was nothing they could do. I've traveled extensively to 50+ countries and this was a standout negative experience for me.

Family Vacation

Our stay at this beautiful VRBO was awesome! The pictures online did not do it justice – there were 12 of us in total, and we never once felt that it was crowded. We utilized the bungalows beside the pool and also utilized the rooms within the main house. There were lots of activities that we participated in such as bocce tournaments, billiards, lots of card, games, relaxing, poolside, and morning coffees in the open air Living Room. The staff, which included Jesus, Carri, Rowland, Marta, and Ephraim – we’re pleasant and always had a smile on their face. Jesus and Carrie insured that we had a full breakfast each morning and then the evenings, the meals were delicious and satisfying. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this VRBO for a large group gathering, it is conveniently located on the oceanfront and close to restaurants and bars in the event you want to go out one night. The waves in front of the home were huge and we spent, many hours watching the waves rolling. There is also a surf school next-door, and six of our party participated in learning how to surf and found it quite enjoyable. The only item I would bring forward is, it would be great if there were some umbrellas around the pool to help shade the area in the afternoon, but we just moved the loungers in front of the bungalows, and were able to sit out and enjoy the fresh air and sun. Once again would highly recommend this VRBO.

A memorable family holiday

We recently stayed at this Playa Bonita property for a week, and highly recommend it. Our family group of 18 persons, ranged in age from 9 months to 92 years. The setting was perfect; an idyllic and yet private location, across from the beach, where the sounds of the crashing waves enhanced our feelings of relaxation. A large grassy expanse lies between the house and the beach. This was an ideal place for the children to run and play ball games. The beach in front of the house has large swells and high waves, but there was a calmer beach about a 10 minute walk away that was more suitable for young children and more amenable for swimming,. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, with lush vegetation which afforded a sense of privacy. The pool was well used and a great place to gather for cocktails before dinner. The services provided included security, daily housekeeping, a cook and servers to set and clear the table after each meal. We discussed the menu beforehand with the executive chef, and fine tuned our choices daily with the house chef. The service team was pleasant and keen to make our stay comfortable and worry free. The property experienced some minor damage after a recent hurricane (small palms and outdoor lamp fixtures) and the tennis court could use some maintenance, but these were minor issues in the grand scheme of things. This was a once in a lifetime experience!

Not what you would expect from a high end listing

Overall the staff was great however we had 2 major issues which we brought up to the management which impacted the trip. The hot water for the main house (3 bedrooms including the master suite) did not work, we notified management of this issue and while they attempted to fix this, they where unable to resolve this issue causing the family staying in these rooms to have to walk to the back cottage to use the showers every day. The other issue was the roof over the dinning/communal area which had multiple large leaks - it rained almost daily during our stay especially during our evening meals and caused a lot of frustration having to relocate and dry out each time. When this was brought up to management we were told there was no quick fix they just needed to shut the villa down for a month to repair it (roof leaks like this do not happen overnight, this should have been repaired before accepting a booking). We paid $22,000+ USD for the villa as we were expecting a high end well cared for space however the above 2 issues are not something i would expect in a luxury villa.

Great Property needs updating

The property is very nice when you arrive. We loved that it was enclosed with gates and had security 24hrs. It was also directly in front of the beach so really convenient with a great yard. The staff was amazing. The chef Felipe and his assistant Yohanna were both fantastic with service and delicious food. The house is also very well equipped with kitchen items and enough cups, plates, utensils for large groups. We did have a few issues. The house is outdated. One of the rooms is in the back by the tennis court. It looks like they took a storage area and converted it into a room so it is very small and completely isolated. One of the other rooms had a massive leak from the ceiling. The outdoor areas are VERY dark at night and most of the little floor lamps in the walkways are broken. The pool table is a great feature, except that the pool sticks are rusted and broken and can't be used so we couldn't use the table. And lastly, some of us were working part time remotely so we needed the wifi to work well. It was very unstable so not only could we not work based on the house wifi but the TV's were not accessible since they depended on the wifi. With a little tender love and care this villa could be an amazing getaway! And maybe a little more responsiveness from Christophe, the property manager, would have been nice.

Great location but needs a little updating

The overall property and location can't be beat. Positives: The Location- We loved being right next door to the Mosquito Bar. This place is amazing. The food and the drinks were exceptional. The property is on the beach so it can't be beat. The Staff- The chef (Jesus) and his assistant (Janna) were great. The breakfast every morning was incredible as were the 3 dinners that they cooked for us. The Rooms Next to the Pool- The 3 rooms next to the pool are newer than the rest of the house. They are all 3 alike and they are all great other than the hot water which was almost non-existent. Negatives: Main House: The main house must have been incredible when it was first built but the bedrooms here are not as nice as the ones by the pool. The master bedroom AC was leaking water and it we think it was fixed by the time we left but we switched bedrooms early so we wouldn't have to worry about it. Bedrooms: One of the bedrooms is next to the guard house and completely away from everything else. No one will want to stay in this room. Hot water: I know this has been mentioned by many other so it definitely needs to be addressed. The water heaters are damaged. There was never a time that we had hot water for more than 3 minutes and our room had its own water heater. The 3 rooms by the pool all have their own water heaters and only one gave the guests hot water more than 5 minutes. Games: The pool table needs new pool cues. Our host said they were on order but I doubt this.

Great Location but no 7 bdrm

The location is an absolute dream. And the chef is a star, best food we've had in the Caribbean (and this was my 36th island). The pool is also amazing. There were hiccups though: a court is not taken care of whatsoever, though we've asked for it several times. Since we were specifically looking for a court villa, and it was marketed as such, it would be great if the court was actually playable. For some reason there's no laundry services for the guests so we had to do our own, which is weird, given that this is an upscale villa. Another problem was fly infestation - there's no effort to get rid of them and the kitchen is infested, which is quite unpleasant. But the main problem is, the property is 5 bedroom, as two of the bedrooms were barely livable: one was in the basement, tiny, dark and depressing. We had just one girl staying there but even for her it was way too small, two people would never be able to share that. Another one, a small house near the court, was reeking of urine as there was a plumbing issue that was never addressed. Three bedrooms facing the pool were newest and loveliest. MB is huge and has a great balcony with a view. There was also a plumbing issue there though, and everyday smell. A large bedroom under it was basic and no view but adequate. It was a bit disappointing, since I've specifically asked whether all the bedrooms were more or less equal, and was assured they were, which was not the case. I understand sometimes there are differences, but this is our 10th year traveling as a group, and we've never seen such a disparity. Overall, highly recommended as 4 bedroom property with 3 extra rooms - for kids? help? I am not sure I'd want to put anyone there, let alone my companions. But the chef and the location saved the day: after trying his food we decided not to venture out at all, so good it was. The beach in front of the house is good for surfing, but 5 minutes walking to your right, there's a quiet lagoon, perfect for swimming.
