The property was very clean and the rooms are quite spacious. All communication with the hosts was quite positive. I can't recall much about the listing as I was more interested in the dates I needed, so I did not provide a rating there. The kitchen did not include a microwave which was disappointing. It may have been an oversight but as the cabin is 30 minutes from a store or restaurant having a microwave to heat up already prepared items would be nice. We had mule deer grazing on the clover outside our windows both mornings we were there. The Wifi and the digital entertainment packages were very good. The rooms are very spacious.
When they say the home is on Casper Mountain, it means the top of the mountain. Fairly challenging drive to get up there. Once arrived (fortunately still light out), the code to get in did not work. I was given 3 phones to call, nobody answered. After about 30 minutes the one individual called back, he was the carpet cleaner. He mentioned that he thought the lock was fixed, but he was not given my access code. He did some internet magic and the door opened for us. The home is rustic and nice. We did find a very dirty shower floor in the master bedroom, thankfully there was another shower to use. You couldnât open the windows to get the cool night air, no screens. Unfortunately the agent did not get back to us regarding the door until 12 hours later. So we decided best to sleep with the door ajar, but the screen door locked. The home is in a very remote area and I canât say I wasnât concerned. We wanted to get more groceries but were afraid to leave wondering if we could get back in. By morning we were frustrated at not hearing back from anyone and decided to find lodging elsewhere. We tackled going back down the mountain and stayed in town. When the agent finally responded it was a âcheck the lock see if it works nowâ. At this point we already left and did not care to remain at the home.My wife and I travel the country staying at VRBOâs. Weâve always had a good experience. I understand things happen, but most owners/agents are very responsive not this one
Hard to beat staying on Casper Mountain. Beautiful. Mule deer everyday. Quiet and remote. Fire pit great! Lots of firewood. Recommend at least a small SUV or truck to access property. Check in before dark, little tricky to find the first time. Use lock on door on side of house near fire pit. No water proof protection on pillows/mattress. No microwave. Grass over grown. No curtains for windows in bathrooms. Bring slippers owner doesn't allow shoes in house. Tile floors are cold. Owner dictates thermostat setting during your stay. I realized refrigerator wasn't working when I tried to put my first groceries in Tuesday night. Also found a lot of food in the freezer thawed out and leaking. Owner informed. Owner messaged daily. I cleaned up mess. Found a mouse and droppings under sink Friday. Owner came Friday night and left a mini Fridge and rat bait. Electronic lock wouldn't lock at check out. Owner messaged no response. Owner upset I left house unlocked. Owner apologized for any inconvenience but charged me $500 in damages for her fridge and food after I requested small partial refund for not having a fully functional kitchen as advertised. You could leave food outside it was cold enough but concern for attracting a bear. 30 minutes to grocery store down the mountain. Guest beware.
Passionated about wellness, I tend to feel that our home represent our interior. My spaces are cozy and intimates filled with positive vibrations to honor the land.
