It is located in our campground on 160 acres and there are walk path with play equipment along the way, bike path, frisbee golf, pickle ball court and half basketball court. It is located by famous fishing lake, Payne Lake and only 15 minutes away from Waterton international park that has lots of hiking trails and 15 minutes away from Waterton dam for water sports. Lots to do in all season including ice fishing, hunting, cross country ski etc.
We stayed in the hotel unit as we came to Waterton to do our SCUBA training and needed running water to rinse our gear. The campground is beautiful and there are large areas to walk around as well as a fire pit and very unique playground to use. The management was easy to contact, the hotel unit was clean when we arrived and we were pleasantly surprised that it had a TV and a small bar sized fridge. It is very small, to the point where it is hard to open a full sized suit case in the unit, however this was fine for us as we really only needed a place to shower and sleep.
My only negative was that the walls are extremely thin and the 24/7 lounge is right beside the unit and there is also a bigger suit above. Often we would come back to the unit exhausted at 10/11pm and there would be small children screaming and stomping around either next door or above us making it hard to sleep. Even with just people talking at a normal volume you can make out pretty much every word they are saying. Also while there is a coffee maker there is no coffee whitener, so you either need to bring your own or pick some up.
Overall though I would stay here again
We loved the bed and the location. It was perfect for visiting Waterton. It was, however, really small. There was not a place to put our suitcases. The bath/shower needs a non slip surface. Both my wife and I slipped while in the shower. There was human and pet hair on the bed when we arrived. Overall, i would probably stay there again.
Very small but on the newer side still. Needs more storage inside for belongings. No tv or wifi or typical hotel amenities unfortunately. Cleanliness was ok only noticeable issue was provided coffee cups were not clean upon arrival. Ok stay for a night or two at the very most. Needs a bit work still to get up to speed.
The location is amazing, lots to do for kids. The play area was perfect, my son really enjoyed it. The lake was also great for swimming. The room is a bit small, but clean and comfortable. The room also included a mini fridge and coffee maker, which was a welcome surprise.
Payne Lake is very picturesque and a reasonable driving distance to Waterton townsite and the US border crossing. The unit we stayed in was very small and only had room for sleeping or using the bathroom, but the common room right next door was well set up for reading or playing games and there was a nice deck with a great overview of the lake. The room was very tidy, the bed was comfortable and the shower had fantastic water pressure with lots of hot water. The hosts were very accommodating, easy to communicate with and try to make sure your stay is comfortable. Thereâs a ton of outdoor activities and some really cool playground equipment. Itâs a great place for a family, but the campground as a whole was very quiet and peaceful. My only complaint is that we could hear everything the guests staying in the room above us were doing. Overall, it was a really nice alternative to staying in Waterton and weâd definitely stay again.
