Yukon Black Spruce is one of Whitehorse's most unique accommodations. Only six minutes from the international airport, Black Spruce features four self-contained architectural cabins, each identified by the color of their doors. Inspired by landscape hotels in Europe, the cabins are perched on rocky boulders, and set delicately in the Boreal forest. Guests access the cabins from a central cedar boardwalk. Large 10 foot by 10 foot south facing windows immerse visitors in the views of the boreal forest. A wood heated sauna is available.
Honestly one of the most beautiful spots Iâve ever stayed in! I highly recommend this place! The host was nice enough to even drive us to the other place we where staying with out bikes and luggage. 11/10 easy
My wife and I snuck away to this little cabin tucked in the woods in hopes of losing ourselves in nature. Black Spruce did not disappoint. It was on the edge of town, perfect distance to be away from it all. There are three cabins but the way they are built detailed design and layout of the property offers lots of privacy and beautiful views from the "Green" Cabin We came at the beginning of the âfake Springâ and there was still ice and snow but the walkways were maintained well. The sauna was amazing after a day out enjoying the brisk weather. Inside the cabin, you the cabin feels roomy and comfortable with small touches that add to the experience. There were QR codes for tips on seeing the northern lights, places to eat, and attractions. It made us feel more like locals. Itâs a short drive, around 30 minutes, to the Hot Springs and Nature Preserves. The host was very quick to respond to all of our messages and was very nice to meet. It was also very nice to see the efforts to be green and protect Mother Nature while also enjoying it. I would highly recommend this cabin to any couple that wanted their own Yukon adventure.
We just checked out this morning from our 2 night stay at the Black Spruce. As we travelled with our dog, we booked the pet friendly Green Door unit. We had no problems with the booking or checking in process. Laird was very clear with his directions and suggestions. The unit was lovely. It reminded us of the Nordic architecture which we saw in Iceland last year - clean simple lines with attention to sustainability. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the comfortable bed while watching the swaying trees through the enormous windows. With the other units, each is situated in such a way that privacy is maintained. One unit was occupied for 1 night and we had no idea that they were there until the next morning. Highly recommend booking Black Spruce for your next Whitehorse trip!
I have a passion for design and sustainable construction, and Black Spruce was an opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream of building a landscape hotel.
Black Spruce is built into the landscape. From the cedar boardwalk which meanders through a depression in the rock, to how the cabins are delicately set on stilts, to the large 10'x10' windows with forest views, the property is designed to immerse guests in the surrounding forest. It's so close to downtown, yet it feels like you are out in the forest.
