Secluded house with enclosed dog yard on 200 acre family estate
Waking up in fresh Adirondack air with deer peeking thru your windows in the distance, you are surrounded by tress and private trails, and yet have creature comfort. You have excellent access to grocery stores, ADK hiking trails and Lake Placid. 1st floor has two rooms with queen beds, a living room with a 55 inch tv and sofa which unfolds to a small queen bed, and washer and dryer. 2nd floor has master bedroom with spacious study along with living room, kitchen, and enclosed deck to enjoy the outside without concern from bugs. 1/2 acre fully enclosed dog yard has access from both floors of the house. Please note for guests with mobility issues: There are slightly tricky stairs to get to the main living area both from outside or from the 1st floors circular stairs.
This is a wonderful cabin to have as a home base for exploring the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. The cabin is secluded and quiet, yet close to restaurants and shopping in Keene / Keene Valley. The screened in porch is fabulous and where we spent most of our time. The fenced in area for dogs (which can be accessed from either level of the cabin) was a huge plus for us. Although we didnât really need to use it during our stay, this cabin does have AC, which can be very nice with warmer temps. James (host) was very helpful with info and quickly responded to any questions.
This was a fantastic cabin in the woods for a getaway in the Adirondacks. Peaceful and serene! Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely hope to be back.
I had a lovely week-long stay at this cabin. Easy access to awesome hiking and a gas station with essentials (beer, quick meals etc.). Beautiful peaceful vibes with the large screened-in porch set amongst the trees. Light a fire and open the doors to have a nice mix of fresh air and warmth. I would love to come back. Quick note: I would ensure this place is best for you if you or your guests have notable mobility issues. There are slightly tricky stairs to get to the main living area both from outside or from the basement entrance. This won't be an issue for most though. Thanks again! :)
We enjoyed our Xmas getaway. The place was clean and host was attentive to make sure we had everything we needed. Absolutely recommend for families traveling with dogs, as the fenced-in dog run is a nice touch. Our weather was snowy and cold, as it should be in the Adirondack Mountains at Xmas, but the fire made everything cozy. We want to come back in a warmer season to avail ourselves of the well-marked hiking trails. *****
This cabin is up a long dirt road and set off in a wooded area with no other homes around. The view from the large screened in porch is gorgeous. The cabin is comfortable with a very cool mid-century modern fireplace. Beds were comfortable. Owner is very communicative and eager to address any issues. This is a nice place to stay if you are hiking in the area or want to be close to Lake Placidâs many attractions/amenities.
We came for the April 8 eclipse but decided to stay a little longer. The property is very conveniently located but secluded and quiet. We enjoyed the many trails on the property with the various features. The property is just outside the town of Keene and close to the nearby destininations around Lake Placid. The house is very nice with great accomodations for us. We would love to try this in the summer and enjoy more outside activities. The owner was most accomodating and kept us up to date about any issues (including a late season snowfall that was promptly plowed).
The house is sequestered in the woods with a few properties around it, but only one in distant view. Our party consisted of two adults and two dogs, a small Golden and a Black Lab. The property was good for the dogs as there is a fenced in area on one side of the house. The house itself has a very narrow spiral staircase connecting the first and second floors and it was difficult to use it while carrying any large item. The upstairs area, which is the kitchen, LR and MBR have very dark paneled walls, the kitchen cabinets are also dark wood. The bathrooms up and down have been redone and the kitchen could use the same. Otherwise, the house was cozy, and the upstairs was large enough for the four of us (as the dogs would not attempt the stairway so remained in the upstairs area, which has two outside entrances). The owner is very nice and attentive and immediately resolved a couple of minor issues. Overall, the stay was relaxing. We hiked with the dogs, visited Lake Placid, enjoyed snowshoeing at the Cascade Welcome Center (where you can cross country ski or snowshoe without also purchasing a day pass), the Noon Mark Diner for pie and dinner at Forty Six. Keene and Keene Valley are lovely. I would recommend a visit.
We just spent an absolutely wonderful week at Jim & Kayâs cabin. The location is perfect. Having never been to the Adirondacks before we were not sure where to stay & I found this little gem by looking for dog friendly locations. I am so glad I did!
The cabin was perfect for our family. Our adult children all had plenty of space downstairs, while my husband and I had the privacy of the master bedroom being upstairs on the main living area.
The enclosed dog area was a hit! With two very energetic Brittanies it was so nice to have space for them too. My husband made sure the area was well secured (heâs a little obsessive over his pups) when we arrived & the boys loved all the space to run and play. I loved having them with us - the surrounding area is very dog friendly.
The hosts are quick to respond, answer all questions and you can tell take great pride in their home. I would not hesitate to rent this cabin again, and hope to be back in the future.
Great location near Keene, ideal for small family holiday with pet. Trails (and dried firewood) on the property and comfy warm quiet house in perfect location for a peaceful mountain vacay. Owner is super kind and attentive. Book it!
It is secluded on 200 acres of private property. It also has a fully fenced in dog yard with access from both floors of the house. And it has air conditioning, something that is not common in the Adirondacks.
