We arrived at the bungalow on Christmas Eve after 6:00 PM following a 2œ-hour drive, expecting a clean and comfortable place to settle in for the holiday. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the bungalow was not in acceptable condition and had clearly not been properly cleaned.I contacted the owner immediately and was informed that someone would be sent. A cleaner did arrive and worked for approximately two hours. While the cleaning was eventually done properly, this occurred well after our arrival and significantly delayed our ability to settle in and relax.Given that it was Christmas Eve and we had already traveled a long distance, we had no realistic alternative lodging options. Instead of enjoying the evening as planned, we were forced to leave the property and spend time out. While we chose to make the best of the situation and still enjoyed time together, the experience disrupted our holiday plans and added unnecessary stress.The cleaning fee was refunded and 50 was provided toward food, which was acknowledged; however, when divided among three adults on a major holiday, it did not adequately reflect the inconvenience experienced.Cleanliness is a basic expectation for any rental. While communication occurred and the issue was eventually addressed, the condition of the property at check-in fell short of what was advertised and expectedâespecially for a holiday stay.
