This was such a wonderful spot. A private and peaceful getaway for sure. The stream was great to relax next to during the day, and we had our choice of the fire pit outside or the fireplace inside each night. Both were great! Clean and well kept, tucked away in the country, it was exactly what we were hoping for.
Fern Hollow is the perfect secluded mountain getaway. The cabin was clean and well equipped, with good towels, comfortable seating, and an extensive dvd library. Starlink worked well for internet and wifi calling. Sleeping with the windows open, being lulled to sleep by the sound of the creek was the rest we needed! I will say the cabin is easy to miss the first time, as the sign is a little under the hill and difficult to see. The host was thorough and clear in his instructions and expectations and quick to respond to messages. We would certainly rent this hideaway again!
This property is everything the listing says and a lot more. Coffee by the creek, stroll around the property, wood fire burning outside, and best of all....cozy gas fireplace inside....no firewood needed. We enjoyed our stay very much.
This is by far the BEST secluded, beautiful, charming cabin that I have ever been!

Everything you would want with a flowing stream at your door step!
Host very gracious!
I want to move theređ
Back in 2014 my life perspective changed when it was determined I needed a heart transplant. I reevaluated my life and decided I didn't want to spend the rest of my time sitting behind a computer. I had one vacation rental in Hilton Head and decided it really fit the lifestyle I wanted. I began getting more vacation rentals in areas I'd like to go and live. The plan was to move around and go live in each one for a few months at a time. That part hasn't worked out yet, but In January of 2020 I received my gift of life. Since then I've been all in on vacation rentals and one day I'll be able to do that.
I fell in love with FernHollow the first time I saw it. It was exactly what I was looking for and everyone said didn't exist... it is a true unicorn. It's a well maintained log cabin that wasn't a fixer upper on a stocked trout stream with a second creek lot and 30 acres at a price I could afford and 2 hours from my house. FernHollow is great because it is relatively close and easy to get to, yet very private. Its not some cabin community with neighbors right next door. There are some cabins around, but there's enough space that you feel a million miles from everyone... plus a state supported trout stream is nice too.
FernHollow is not like any other cabin I found. It sits on 30 acres and is surrounded on 3 sides by National Forest Land on a flowing creek. This kind of privacy with easy access from a paved road is not something you find often. 2 hours from Atlanta, Asheville, and Chattanooga and only 11 miles from Murphy make it convenient from a lot of places while seeming remote.
