Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Some pros, mostly cons
On the plus side, the interior of the home was clean; the appearance is generally as the photos show. The beds were all very comfy; shower and washer/dryer worked fine. However...This is an older home that appears to be recently flipped, with only the inside having received any attention. The exterior is a different story -- moss growing on the decades-old roof, weeds growing from the gutters, and large mud puddles serving as breeding grounds for swarms of mosquitoes. (Seriously. We literally sprinted from the car to the front door to get thru the mosquito clouds.) The driveway has multiple unavoidable large holes, plus branches growing over it. Do not plan to spend any time outdoors here due to the insects and overgrown weeds. Colin had zero communication with us prior to check in, and we had to leave 4 messages before getting a response (after check-in time) with the key code for the door.A few other things to note: 1 -- the home is secluded, but still gives a 'fishbowl' vibe due to lack of curtains (or even rods) on any of the windows in the living room. This is a basic aspect of room furnishing, and an easy fix. 2 -- killed a variety of insects inside, which I guess is to be expected in the woods, to some degree. 3 -- ran the dishwasher a complete cycle and the dishes came out as dirty as when they went in. 4 -- four people staying four nights, and only 2 rolls of TP? We ran out.Sadly, this place does not live up to its potential.
The property was nice and secluded and quiet. We enjoyed the wooded property and fire pit area. The inside remodel was nice and the beds were all comfortable. The whole inside needs a good dusting. There were cob webs in all corners and on the walls with bugs and spiders in them. Some cob webs had a brown color meaning they had been there for some time. The dish washer was full of mold and wasn't able to be used.
Sorry, not exactly what we expected. Ask detailed questions before booking.
First off, the communication with owner Colin was fine. My husband and I booked the property for our anniversary trip trusting the listing was accurate "NEW! Beautiful Riverfront Home on 10 acres." The living room/kitchen were the best rooms in the house (not counting the unusable dishwasher). The air conditioning worked. The master bed was comfortable. However, the home overall is not beautiful as listed. Much needed outdoor maintenance front and back and cleaning including several indoor repairs and cleaning. Unable to use the screened in area very dirty. The home looked kinda abandoned with the massive cobwebs around the front door and very dirty. We did make Colin aware of all of these things. The home could become a nice retreat if regular care and improvements were made. We made the best of it but it was dissapointing. My suggestion is to check with Colin to see if any additional improvements and repairs have been accomplished. Best regards.
Only critique we have really is the drive needed more rock and the roof looks close to needing replaced. Beyond that it was an amazing stay, we loved it. It was just as pictured and very clean. Beautiful surroundings.
