Charming English basement just steps from the heart of classic Capitol Hill. With a separate private entrance, this unit is perfect for a week working on the Hill or a couples retreat to one of our cityâs best neighborhoods. For the work week warrior, you are a short distance from Trader Joeâs which will help you stock your fully prepared kitchen for a quality âhome cookedâ meal. The unit is within walking distance of Eastern Market metro.
Great location. Perfect for two people. All you need for a comfortable stay. If sensitive to foot noise beware, you will hear it from the family above. Steep steps to enter/exit as well; not a problem for us. Only complaint: need a full length mirror.
This place is located close to all the visitor attraction in Washington DC. It is a great place to stay when jumping off to the capital city and all the attractions in that area. DC has really good Metro Transit and a train stop is only two blocks from this place which makes it easy to jump and go.
The property was very cozy and worked out well for my son and I. However, I contacted the host about the porch light not working the 2nd day we were there and it was not fixed. Also, there were no blinds on the front door and when cleaning dishes we discovered a leak under the kitchen sink that I informed the host about. Overall we felt safe and it was a comfortable place to relax after sightseeing all day.
We had a great stay! My family really enjoyed the home and our time in D.C. The location is convenient close to most attractions and easily accessible by local transportation. If youâre driving, just be prepared to figure out the parking situation. The neighborhood is quiet, and the home has most of what you need for a comfortable stay. The only downside was the washing machine, the door latch was broken, so we couldnât use it. That was disappointing, especially after a 7-day trip, as we had to bring all our laundry back home. Overall, we still had a wonderful experience and would recommend the place!
Eastern Market and Trader Joes were just around the corner, and bus routes were close. The checkin and checkout instructions were clear and the place was clean and matched the pictures.
Nice place with everything you need to be comfortable. The location was perfect. Just steps away from Eastern Market, Metro and plenty of Restaurants, and shops. Great neighborhood with easy access for exploring DC. You can even walk from there to the Capitol and to the National Mall.
The property was great. Had a little trouble finding the lock box even though the host gave excellent directions. Maybe add the statement that it is NOT the box closest to the door. The host was immediately responsive to our problem. The only negative was that I could not get the coffee pot to work! Had a great stay!
Didn't feel like it had been cleaned hard in a while; Shower (moldy curtain and under mat), sheets, pillows, couch. Wobbly chairs need tightening. Couch needs a deep cleaning and is not a pullout, just a spot to lay sheets over the cushions. Clothes washing machine didn't work. Back door will not open, at all - back window small and high - so, only 1 fire exit. :(Such a nice area. Quiet. Trader Joes and train station within 2 blocks. Overall an adorable place to stay. Just needs some cleaning.
This apartment is located in a fabulous neighborhood just two blocks from the metro. We enjoyed a playground 2 blocks away as well as shopping at Trader Joeâs. The neighborhood was nice and quiet with access to restaurants and shops not far away. It never took us more than 15 minutes to get to the National Mall. The apartment itself could use some updating and sprucing up, such as the dishwasher isnât sitting properly in its space. The one major downside to this apartment was someone started stomping loudly upstairs every day around 6:45 AM. So, if you arenât an early riser, I wouldnât recommend this place. If you are an early riser, then I think it might be a perfect spot. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in DC!
We visited two nights in January and liked the location. Pre-check-in comm was great! Street parking was not available to unload our things so we did the musical cars dance while unloading from the alley having had to move for an entering car. I was distracted by a non-functioning lockbox (why would there be two lockboxes?). I reread the instructions and found the correct one which was low to the ground and could be difficult for those with mobility issues to get to. The key was sitting inside in old rainwater and stained my hands with rust. The unit is in the basement, so the entrance is under a staircase. On the stair case above was a large rotting pumpkin which wasn't very welcoming and the area outside our door made me question what I was going to find inside. The entryway had not been swept or kept up, so it was impossible not to track wet leaves into the apartment. The iron security door needs to be replaced. It had a broken screen on it and you had to physically lift the door up to get it to open. I was frustrated and my husband had to come and do it after I cut my hand on the door. Once inside, everything was tidy. The one lamp in the living room had no lightbulb and the shower floor had hair in it. I wiped it out and flipped the shower mat upside down as it looked cleaner. There was a lot of rot around the floor of the bathroom. The bed and linens were comfy and that was the most important thing as we did not spend time inside or use any appliances or TV.
Overall, this was a great place to stay. It's a nice space. The bed was comfortable and the heater worked great. The location was amazing, as it only took a 9-10 minute Uber ride to downtown and appeared to be a safe area. A few things I was not crazy about were the bad smell in the kitchen sink, and that the bed was located below a high traffic area in the mornings so I heard a small human running around, but earplugs fixed that. The front door locks were a little hard to turn. I found the lock box just fine to the left of the door a little ways at eye level. Also, it would have been helpful to have directions of where to leave the keys upon checkout.
Great location. Walking distance to outstanding restaurants and points of interest.
Clean garden apartment with well-equipped kitchen.
Host was very responsive to our inquiries.
This will become our D.C. "home away from home".
Superb location and spacious unit. Be sure to arrange your visit and schedule to spend time at the farmer's market on Saturday or Sunday. It is huge and just one block away from this listing. I appreciated that Metro and Trader Joe's were an easy and safe two block walk. Beautiful, historic neighborhood just one to three metro stops away from the National Mall.
Alex & John are avid travelers that are lucky enough to have called the District home for over a decade. It's our goal to give you and yours a warm welcome, so everyone can experience the real 'DC' that isn't mentioned on the national news.
