Arrive to your secluded southern oasis with romantic views of a moss drenched mature cypress lake during a beautiful sunset with your favorite bourbon or wine at the fireside. Enjoy the crackle of a fire at your feet with songbirds and crickets as flocks of roseate spoonbills fly overhead to roost in your private lake. Walk the nature trails and view all the wildlife Louisiana has to offer. Itâs likely all a stones throw away.
Leave used towels and striped bed linens on the floor of the bathrooms.
Upon check out, gather all trash from the rooms and put trash bags in the trash cans outside. They are located on the side of the house in the driveway.
This is our favorite place to stay when we visit Rayne. For nature lovers, the lake is a little slice of heaven and a prime place for birdwatching. My brother and husband love to cook together in the spacious kitchen. With the large open floor plan, my other brother and I can relax on the sofa and still be part of the conversation in the kitchen. I couldn't think of a better place for visiting with family.Kudos to owners Nicky and Max for making us feel not just welcome, but like part of the family!
This farmhouse is roomy, well-furnished and tastefully decorated with a lot of natural light. It is located at the end of a country road, therefore it's very peaceful and quiet. There is a lake on the property that provides additional way to relax. The owner was easily accessible and made sure our accommodations met our needs.
Property was as comfortable as it was beautiful. Could have used a rocker or recliner for more comfort than just sofas, but sofa was extremely comfortable. Guys brought an aluminum flat bottom boat with a trawl motor, paddles, life jackets, etc. They truly enjoyed the pond, birds nesting, Fred (the male alligator), turtles, etc. They hooked a garfish but couldn't take it in but they have a story they will be telling for a while longer. Owners were extremely patient and helpful. We enjoyed having Mr. Trahan come over and help with the key box. Friends truly enjoyed his story about the property. Don't regret going there at all!
Waking up to a view of the rookery canât be beat! Egrets, ibises, roseate spoonbills! The weather was perfect with spring temperatures. Roses were in bloom. Thereâs nothing like the Farmhouse in the spring!
This house was great! Nicky was quick with responding to our questions, house was CLEAN, and it easily accommodated our large family. Our kids had so much fun playing outside and seeing the alligators and turtles. We had a very relaxing time and would definitely return in the future!
I hadnât realized until this spring how incredibly busy the lake is behind the house. Egrets, cormorants, spoonbills, herons, ducks all use the lake as their rookery. Watching them build nests and take care of their babies was a source of endless fascination. Mama gator and her ten babies were fascinating also.
Nicky had told us about Hawkâs for crawfish and that was such a great find! Another great Louisiana stay at our favorite house in Cajun country!
Even in freezing temperatures, this is a birdwatcherâs dream. Ibis flew in and covered the shoreline, huddling together for warmth and searching for minnows. How many, you ask? Hundreds! It was spectacular!
Once again we put the kitchen to good use. The layout of the kitchen makes it easy for two people to cook at the same time. Visiting Mom in the nursing home and being able to share homemade chicken pot pie with her was wonderful. Thanks, Nicky, for having us!
For nature lovers, thereâs no place like this house on a small lake. Roseate spoonbills and white ibises roost in the cypress trees at night. Baby gators basked on the bank, throwing themselves in the water when they saw us. A quick check with Merlin Bird app listed the uncommon white eyed vireo as a bird singing from the surrounding forest.
Indoors, a kitchen large enough for two cooks to work side by side was perfect.
The towels were huge and fluffy. There was plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable, chatting to the wee hours. Canât wait to return!
My husband and my brother love to wind down at the end of the day by cooking together. This is our favorite place to stay when visiting Mom. The lake is beautiful for birdwatching. And the stars are so bright away from the glare of street lights. Outside is a nature loverâs paradise.
Inside, the house is very comfortable. Spacious enough for us to spread out and cozy enough to sit for hours and reminisce. Canât wait to come back!
Our stay was cozy and comfortable. Our family enjoyed the property and beautiful lake. The host was hospitable during our stay. We loved it! The Melton~ Texas
