This is truly one of the most extraordinary properties in Western Canada. This âGrand Castleâ boasts the most serene and picturesque mountain views in the country. Features of the land include gorgeous bluffs of trees, a full tennis court area, a long gated driveway with a circular entry, an island pond, a cascading waterfall, a wooden curved bridge leading to a small island and covered sitting area, numerous outdoor entertaining areas and a fabulous childrenâs playground.
We were one of 5 people who enjoyed a fantastic week long work retreat here. Everyone appreciated their own bedroom and ensuite, and of course the swimming pool and hot tub was enjoyed by all. While none of us have ever stayed in a castle, this must be as close as you can come! From the 2 level library, to the formal living and dining room, a well appointed kitchen, theatre room, games room, it goes on and on. Thank you Leanne for being a great host! We appreciated the easy check in and check out process, and you were always easy to reach. Hopefully we will return soon!CheersBarry
The property was pretty amazing and perfect for our family of 6 adults and 3 children ranged 8-13 years old. Possibly could use a little improvement on some furniture and seating on the outdoor decks. Very convenient to the National Parks as well as grocery in Cochrane. We did have a few issues that needed attention, but fortunately the property manager, Leanne, was outstanding. She was easily contacted and reacted very quickly to our needs.
Ghost Lake is perfectly situated between Calgary and Banff. Itâs a beautiful home with lots of property that is great for nature walks. We saw a moose, elk and lots of deer from the house. We had 14 people and plenty of room. The hot tub was difficult to keep hot. The property host was very responsive to questions and concerns. It would be great to have multiple gate openers and some extra sets of sheets, blankets, and pillows. Our family likes lots of pillows. Overall, wonderful experience. I would highly recommend.
I enjoyed my stay but the house was generally quite stuffy/dusty, especially on the basement level. In fact the basement air quality was so poor that my mother, who is generally in good health, could hardly breath. Additionally, the pool was a nice amenity except for the array of dead bugs and debris floating within. The hot tub was also a disappointment due to the scalding water (lower the water temperature entailed coordinating with the property manager which was worth the time given our short stay).
Overall the stay was enjoyable albeit very disappointing for the price paid.
Very beautiful house. However, I spent the first three days trying to clean and get the pool in the proper order. Not well-maintained. Nothing matched. The dishes were mismatched. The mattress in the master bedroom was substandard. And a multi million dollar home and they canât afford to put decent bedding that matches or the dishes. Garage was disgusting. Very disappointed that I had to waste my time cleaning for half my vacation screen in the kitchen were so filthy I had to wash them in the shower downstairs.
The pool was amazing, and hard to get the kids out of it. But the games room, library, and theatre room were also favorite destinations. The local camp store made for easy supply runs but we also visited nearby Cochrane and Ghost Lake for family fun. A wonderful family holiday - only suggestion is a few more forks were needed for the meals with 13.
We had 11 people, ranging from ages 11 to 79, and the house had more than enough spaces and things to offer. We didn't even use one of the 6 bedrooms. The views are awesome and the outdoor surrounding property is wonderful to explore. The pool greenroom is so cool! The temperature of the pool and hottub were our only complaint...too hot! But we made do and with the movie theater to use and the basement games, we didn't feel put out of options. The location is perfect...45 minutes from Canmore, an hour from Banff, an hour and a half from many other gorgeous options! We visited Lake Louise, Emerald Lake, and Lake Minnewanka. We also did a horseback ride tour that took us across Bow River and white water rafted on Kicking Horse River. It was nice to end our day in a comfortable and gorgeous home!
Hi, Im Leanne. I love the outdoors, home cooking, nature, animals and so on. Weâd love to share our cottage with you and have you fall in love with the area just like we did.
