Take a moment to disconnect from the world and spend some time in a quiet rural area surrounded by the majestic Ouachita mountains. The D bar D farmhouse is a cozy, family-friendly house that is literally located on a family farm. Less than .25 miles down the road you will find an access point to enjoy the peaceful Ouachita river or drive a short 30 minutes to Wolf Pen Gap to ride ATVs or find Irons Fork Lake 6 miles away to take in nature and fish or watch the sunset from the farmhouse backyard.
The farmhouse has a fully stocked kitchen when you first walk in, with a bar and stools instead of a dinning area. Close by is a coffee station with all the fixin's. The living room has a couch and a sofa with 4 recliners. There is a Roku TV where you can stream TV subscriptions, such as Netflix and Hulu, or there is a DVD and VCR player attached where we include family-friendly movies. Each bedroom comes with one bed, 2 of them have full sized beds and the third has a queen sized bed. Main area has a couch, recliners and room for an air bed. There is plenty of closet space in each room as well. Also the living room is spacious enough for a blow up bed for guests to bring along. Both bathrooms include a shower and the utility room has a fully functioning washer and dryer. Walk out the door and you have the option of a shaded patio with furniture, a fire pit and a charcoal grill. We also provide an outdoor dog pen for any large or outside dogs.
Guests are able to have the whole house and yard to themselves. There is plenty of room to park several vehicles, trailers, and ATVs. There is also a river access about 1/4 mile down the road.
Please note that this house is located on a working farm. Tractors and other farm equipment may be driving in front of the house. Cows are sometimes getting moved across the road to a different pasture, so you may even get to witness a real-life cattle drive! Also recently a 50 amp camper outlet has been added to the yard for an extra camper parking fee.
Home was down a quiet country road we enjoyed that. I take reviews seriously because I know theyâre important to the host, but we had an issue that I wasnât going to mention in my review because I didn't think the host knew about it until I found sticky traps FULL of brown recluse under the sink. (She said she didnât know when I text her about finding many in the home before seeing the sticky traps). We are not skittish or scared of spiders in a home, but this is an infestation, one was in my shirt as I was sleeping. Just be careful and check beds/couch especially if you have kids. Had it been a few spiders or a different kind I wouldnât mention it. Hopefully theyâll get that taken care of. Other than that, itâs a good place to get away.
We came up for our sonâs graduation at UARM. Ms Dotsy was very accommodating and responds quickly on anything you need. The house was clean and didnât have any issues with our stay.
Our family enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity of the property. Our host was more than helpful with questions about the area and very responsive. Highly recommended!
Great farm house with lots of room inside and outside. No other homes immediately around this one. This is at least our 3rd stay at the property, and definitely not our last.
We came in after dark, the place was well lit for our arrival. Extra towels & blankets. House immaculate! Fire pit with wood ready. We will definitely stay here again! Dotsy is the hostess with the mostess!!
Excellent stay! Nice older farmhouse, very clean. We arrived in the evening, lights and heat were on and it felt like home. We had everything we needed and the owner was great! Highly recommend and would love to stay again when in town.
It was a pleasant evening in the country. We had everything we needed for our stay and the beds were comfortable. Our hostess was very attentive and gave us good instructions and tips on restaurants.
Cute farmhouse in the country. Peaceful and quiet. The host was so nice and stayed in contact. We arrived just after dark, and she had left the light on for us. We enjoyed our stay. There were puzzles and games to play. Thereâs Roku on the tv. Comfy reclining couch and loveseat. Neat old barns on the property and antique farm equipment. Reminded us of our grandparents farm.
This place is great for a trip to the senic highway between mena and talihena me and my four friends had a great time we watched some of the provided VHS movies cooked breakfast and there is plenty of parking.
We really enjoyed the farmhouse experience. It was nice to get out of Mena a little ways where we could see the stars shining at night and hear the cattle in the fields. Hosts were great. We had some friends come over and grilled some steaks outside. They enjoyed it for the short time they were there before they headed back to their room. Thanks again!
We stayed for an extended weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit, location, and excellent communication from the host.
Would definitely stay again!
Perfect stay. I loved how close the house is to town, but also out in the country. The house was clean, Dotsy was very quick to respond and even brought a cake pan to thr house so i didnt have to pack one. There was plenty of room to play inside and also a nice area for sitting outside, as well as enough room to run and play
The location was great. My family was looking for a "home away from home" feel during a road trip. The farmhouse was just what we were looking for! The property manager was kind and provided information on local businesses where we could eat/shop during our stay. The house itself was great, and we enjoyed our time there. We hope to stay there again the next time we are in town.
We filled the house with 8 people but it was very fun! Plenty of area for the grandkids to run around in the yard. I most enjoyed early morning coffee on the carport. It was close to shopping and restaurants. We very much enjoyed the accommodations. Thanks!
