We celebrated our 51st anniversary here. Have been doing this for almost 30 years. This is our first stay here. The place is very convenient, quiet, and peaceful. It is very cozy, and the hot tub great after a day of hiking and "running around". Would absolutely stay here again.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Highlands for the weekend! There were many shops and restaurants to visit. We also loved exploring the nearby waterfalls and hikes! Our Host was great and made everything easily accessible for us. Our stay was just as expected!
One word: DISAPPOINTING!! This was a business trip so after working 10 hr days you want to go to your home and climb into bed--but the sheets were "clammy"--EVERY NIGHT! The AC was on and STILL it was not comfortable. Because of this the towels NEVER DRIED OUT, so you had damp towels to dry off with. Try taking a shower where the shower head is aimed toward the wall and could not be adjusted downward! The floor grates were rusty and not pleasing to look at. The interior of the lampshades were torn and generally the overall atmosphere was depressing.
Property was clean and comfortable. The small community "neighborhood" was quiet and relaxing. Access to downtown Highlands and surrounding towns was easy and convenient.
We had never been to Highlands. Nice area. Very pretty. This rental was great for a small family. Hot tub was fabulous and a nice bonus. Very close to downtown Highlands.
Loved this little place. Had everything we needed for our short family trip and we loved it was close to our favorite bbq spot in Highlands. Nice lil area to walk your dog near the property and nice hot tub as an added amenity.
Cute little rental neighborhood with several modular home cottages. You can hear buck creek but you can't see it. Very quiet especially because we were the only people there. Close to downtown Highlands. Small but homey and clean. Hot tub was already on and waiting for us.
We were deeply disappointed with this property. The listing was deceptive, showing a house that looked very different from what we encountered. It was overstuffed with furniture, the house had clearly not been renovated, and it had a moldy, musty odor that the owner attempted to cover with a plug in air freshener. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, and the bathrooms were dated and uncomfortable.
Whatâs good about the property? Itâs near to Town of Highlands. Thatâs about it.
I was in Highlands for a weekend wedding in Cashiers. There were supposed to be three of us but unfortunately the other parties cancelled. Although the house was spotlessly clean I found a number of things wrong that did affect the quality of my stay. When I arrived the stench of air freshener (plug in type) was overwhelming. I have respiratory issues which were made worse by this. I disabled the units but the smell continued to linger until I checked out. The discomfort it caused on the first night was so bad that if I had had another place to go I would have left. It made me wonder what had smelled so bad that they had to cover the odor so much. I could not adjust the volume on the main TV with the remote control so it was stuck at a level 1 which meant no sound. I was able to watch some streaming shows on one of the bedroom TV's. There was one bedroom remote missing. The microwave had a huge crack in the frame of the door and I was scared to use it. The hot and cold faucets in one of the bathrooms are reversed with the hot water on the right and cold on the left which was quite disconcerting. The check out requirements include washing & putting away all your dishes as well as emptying all the trash and taking it to the dump. I felt this was quite draconian as it was only me and the cleaning fee is quite high. The place is pet friendly although I did not take my dog. They even have dog bowls and a small dog bed. Overall I would probably not stay there again.
This cottage had everything we needed. Comfortable beds. Separate baths. Full kitchen. Quiet area and pet friendly. The owner was very helpful putting in a new coffee maker when the existing one broke before we arrived. đ
Had an amazing time during our stay here. It was super close to all of the waterfalls and hikes we wanted to go to. Loved the coziness and the hot tub as well. Definitely recommend staying here if you want to be close to hikes and downtown area.
A little scary, with dirt road and no lights. Nobody else in the other homes were there while we were.
Otherwise, it was fine for us with our aged dog.
I am a retired school teacher from south west Georgia. I purchased my home in Highlands to get away from the sweltering heat of south west Georgia in the summer. I love Highlands and its cool summer temperatures. The elevation of 4, 118 feet guarantees a much cooler summer than I get in south Georgia.
Highlands is a great vacation destination with something for everyone. Highlands is a unique town in that you can be as casual as you want or as formal as you like. Highlands offers small town charm with New York sophistication. The shopkeepers are extremely nice and everyone is very friendly. The shops on main street offer everything from an ice cream cone to furniture to fur coats.
