Bring the whole family and relax in this peaceful environment. Whether you are here to experience the crane migration, the state or county fair, a national or local trap shoot, or to visit family, this home will give you a comfortable place to rest during your stay. Still owned by the same family who homesteaded this farmland in the late 1800's, this amazing home has been completely updated and remodeled. It boasts all the modern conveniences, but with the charm and character of history, including some pieces of early 1900 furniture. This peaceful four bedroom home is located 19 miles from Grand Island, 12 from Hastings, and six from Doniphan. Close to wherever you need to go, but surrounded by nature with an abundance of wildlife, including deer and birds
Stay was very nice , no complaints at all. Fully supplied with everything we needed. Not one thing wrong at all was perfect. " Note " Best shower water pressure ever was amazing "
We had a great stay!! The house was absolutely beautiful and perfect. The history and pictures inside are wonderful. The owners were extremely friendly and quick to respond. They even brought us a coffee mug and a gift certificates to thank us for staying and took time to share some of the history of the home. We will definitely be staying here again the next time we are in the area, and highly recommend this home to anyone else needing a place to stay in the greater Grand Island area.
Wonderful property. Convenient to Grand Island and Hastings (20 minutes or less). House is as described and well equipped with everything you would need. Hosts were quick to respond and easy to work with. Main floor bedroom and walk-in shower are a big plus for those with mobility concerns.
This property was absolutely PERFECT! Beautifully remodeled old farm house on a quiet lot with lots of trees. The house was well stocked with anything you could possibly need. The garage was a bonus! Fully stocked wit tables and chairs for our picnic on a windy day!
Seven of us slogged from various parts of the country to witness the Sandhill Crane migration and enjoy one anotherâs company. Hattieâs farmhouse was the perfect site for both. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and welcoming. The kitchen was well-equipped and the whole set up of the house made conversation and visiting easy and rich. Jeff, the host, was very considerate and kind, especially when dealing with the challenges that arose when the area lost power due to ice and high winds. The house, the birds, the attentiveness of our host, and the secluded beauty of the region made for a truly memorable visit that we hope to repeat in the near future.
I have rented a lot of VRBO's and this one takes the #1 spot. First, it's steeped in over 100 years of history, which Jeff is happy to share with you. The house is adorned in both modern and time-period accurate decor. They have gone to great lengths to share the farm's history and their respect for our military.
They had everything we needed. We only had to leave to get food. Fortunately, there are grocery stores 10 miles in either direction. I look forward to going back and spending more time here.
This was the location of our bi-annual family vacation. It felt like home for the Southern family as well as the Northern family. Super clean and just the right size for all of us. The perfect place to relax, do some sightseeing and visit in a peaceful setting.
We really enjoyed all the space this home has to offer! Some highlights included 3 bathrooms, plenty of seating in the kitchen plus nice outdoor seating options- all comfortable. Kitchen was laid out nicely with a chart for where to find things, good pots/pans- great for breakfast, dishwasher and story highlighting the history of the home/family. Host was very friendly and quick with all communication- everything was clean and comfortable; convenient check in and check out process.
The property worked great for our group of people. We were in town for a softball tournament and was able to have team get togetherâs for bonding outside of playing along with team meals. I called it a beautiful home because thatâs how it felt, like a home and not just a house. The owners have done a great job of decorating and providing the basics and more in the kitchen. The owners were easy to communicate with for the entire process, from booking to checking in and to checking out. We will definitely be back!
We have stayed in many vacation rental properties and this is one of the absolute best. It is a beautifully restored and updated farm house, well maintained, spotlessly clean, and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is fully stocked with nice cookware and basic supplies, even with an extensive spice rack. The owner was very responsive and helpful.
Note that the Rowe Sanctuary (for sandhill crane migration viewing) is about a 45 minute drive away via I80. Cranes are everywhere in this area during migration season, so just head out on the back roads.
Very highly recommended!
Hattie's Homestead was a wonderful property for our family to stay for a family gathering and some sandhill crane viewing. Very comfortable for 8 adults. We would definitely stay here again!
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect for our group and we really appreciated the well stocked kitchen and the out door grill. The crane migration was amazing and this house was the perfect place to stay. Minutes from the Crane Trust. Would definitely stay here again.
There were 4 couples, eight individuals and we all enjoyed the comfortable, cozy and clean atmosphere of the adorable home. The host was very attentive. Thank you for allowing us to stay!
The house was just as described , so pretty and comfortable, just enough room for everyone.Decorated so right for the times of the house. Very lovely and just right for an old farmer, place for the kids to run and rest. Great experience for a lovely wedding weekend.
This house is extremely clean, cozy and very well equipped. The bedrooms are quiet and the beds super comfortable. Great stocked kitchen and two kitchen tables. One makes a great card table. The countryside is serene and peaceful and watching the sunrise on the porch and the sunset out back was awesome. So close to Hastings or Grand Island. You can't go wrong staying here. All 4 of my girlfriends would good it 5 stars!
The pictures do not do this wonderful homestead justice. This lovely home has charm and can accommodate a party of 10 easily. The hosts are on top of it. They communicate and truly want you to enjoy your stay at their home. All of our needs were meet and then some. Furniture was comfortable and bedding was just right. If you're looking for a place to stay when visiting the area, we highly suggest you try this property!
Enjoyed your home with dear friends. Especially loved the country setting. Updated home without losing the feel of the original farmhouse. Thanks for sharing!
Everything in the house was outstanding. They did a fantastic job of remodeling the home to accommodate renters.
The one small item would the the upstairs shower, kind of cramped.
