The Hutch Country Inn of Hillsdale

Located on a small hobby farm, the Hutch is a cozy country inn that's ideal whether you're visiting Hillsdale College, searching for antiques in Allen, or just looking for peace and quiet. Come stay in a comfortable apartment where you can relax and bring the kids.

Walk in from your private entrance on the cedar deck. An open-concept living room and kitchen area await you; help yourself to the shelves with a good selection of books and table games, and don't forget to sign our guestbook.

SLEEPING/BEDS: We offer a king-size bed in the bedroom and a new (2025) couch/hide-a-bed in the living room.

KITCHEN: Enjoy a full kitchen at The Hutch. The kitchen features a full-size refrigerator/freezer, stove, oven, and microwave; you'll find the cabinets and drawers stocked with pots, pans, dishes, kitchen tools, etc. Stay warm with our heat in winter or cool off in the air conditioning during the summer. You'll also enjoy high-speed Wifi Internet.

Enjoy the beautiful bay windows at The Hutch. Inside the apartment, two big bay windows give lovely views overlooking the woods and gardens. Outside, there's a large lawn with a fire ring and firewood in the woods. We happily prepare campfires or the sauna for all guests.

Smoking is not permitted inside; you may smoke on the deck or grounds. Pets are not allowed.

Great location in the country yet very close to Hillsdale. Hosts also live on site and were very warm and welcoming. We enjoyed our conversation with them. Because of the rainy weather, we did not get to enjoy the yard/deck much, but would have liked to used the fire pit and sauna. If there are specific kitchen items you know you will need, I would recommend reaching out to the hosts ahead of time as we found the cooking/serving items were somewhat sparse. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay and was just what we were looking for.

This was our second stay at the Hutch, and the second time we've come for Hillsdale's freshman move-in and orientation. We love the peacefulness of the place... just a few minutes from campus yet a great retreat from the excitement and stresses of the weekend. The hosts are fantastic, and the rooms are comfortable and have everything you could ever need. Grateful.

Perfect location for our weekend. Golfed in Hillsdale and Marshall, walked Hillsdale College campus. Beautiful area very well maintained home, well equipped, hosts were very kind and accommodating. Would stay again!

A great location, peaceful and relaxing

We found the site on-line and it was everything the reviews said it was and more. I grew up in Hillsdale and what I miss most since I left are the fireflies in the summer and the color of the leaves in the fall. We were able to see the fireflies this time. This location is close to everything in Hillsdale and Jonesville. This was a home away from home and the Hosts were very pleasant. We had a full kitchen with living room and separate bedroom with king bed. I kept their information for our next visit.

First visit to Hillsdale

Although the weather was a little off with sporadic rains and higher temperatures than normal, we had a very memorable visit. Rob and Regina are very kind and friendly hosts who love sharing this property with others. Hillsdale College was our focus but we enjoyed the neighborhood too. The Olson's neighbor a mile down the street offered farm fresh quality meats and cheeses and Rob's gas grill made our 1st evening meal a winner! We only had allowed 5 nights for our trip, and would have loved to stay longer. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Property

My family stayed at the Hutch while my son competed at the Halter Center. This was a beautiful property that was equidistant to Hillsdale, the Halter Center and The Udder Side ice cream. Rob and Regina were exceptional hosts, providing us with a taste of the Finnish culture of the UP with a sauna experience.

Weekend visit

What a lovely property! We were in town to visit our son for his birthday and had a great time. The hosts were very accommodating with adding the extra mattress for one of our kids, the use of the sauna, and the delicious bread! We would definitely consider staying there again. One thing to consider when staying with multiple people is the only bathroom is located in the main bedroom, it worked out fine, but is a good thing to know.

Beautiful cabin!

My husband and daughter stayed here while touring Hillsdale college. A short drive to Hillsdale, quaint accommodations with tons of charm. Owners were very responsive and kind.

Sweet spot

This was a lovely place to stay for Parents Weekend at the College. Very welcoming host and nice location. The property is beautiful, especially in the fall, and don't miss the local rancher's beef shop on Sand Lake Rd. for some excellent meat! Comfortable king bed, nice restroom, cute sitting area and kitchen. No laundry.

Simply wonderful. Friendly hosts, convenient location, and a clean, relaxing setting with all the amenities. Our stay could not have been better! “How did we not discover this place before? I love it!” - Ann We will be back in Hillsdale several times next summer and hope this place is available. It is the best place we have ever stayed in Hillsdale.

Just Lovely

Beautiful and convenient location. I was looking for a quiet spot to work remotely while my daughter was attending a college camp. The hosts were very kind and this proved to be the perfect spot for this. The property was very clean and well stocked with everything I needed.

I stayed here for a short work trip. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Rob was very communicative and made sure I knew I could contact him with any issues. I would definitely stay again.
