Just two miles away you can connect with the Custer State Park spur of the Mickelson Trail. The best of both worlds!
This is a great property. We have used twice and will again. Plenty of trailer room if going riding. Had 3 36 footers there and still room. Lots of room on the multiple decks. Handy location .
Evergreen Lodge was the perfect home base for our family of 12 to explore the Black Hills! It is spacious inside and out, with many places to both gather together and find space of your own. Furniture and beds were very comfortable. My grandchildren (ages 5 - 11)loved the big yard for games, soccer, and baseball! We all loved sitting around the gas firepit in the evening. The home is well equipped and we appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with necessary spices, condiments, and dishwasher pods. Diane, the owner, was very responsive when I had questions and she provided a great list of recommended things not to miss in the area when asked. We also appreciated that she let us know that her cleaners finished up early, so we were able to check in early. We all thought Evergreen Lodge was wonderful and highly recommend!Deb
The property was perfect for our stay. We had 9 people for an UTV riding trip. Location to attractions was perfect. Cabin was clean and well stocked everything worked.
My husband and I stayed at the cabin with our daughter, son-in-law, and three young grandchildren. The accommodations were great, the beds were comfortable, and the location was great to easily access many outdoor activities. The host was welcoming and responsive. Weâd definitely stay there again!
Loved the location and the meadow in front of the house. Nice that town of Custer was only minutes away. Great central location for visiting different places in the area. We hiked Badlands, Cathedral Spires/Harney Peak Fire Lookout, Devils Tower and Sunday Gulch ... all spectacular.
Our family got together in the Black Hills and found this property to be well situated to the many activities and sites we wanted to see. It had the rooms and amenities we needed to facilitate our stay. The owner was also very responsive to any requests we had during our stay.
Lovely home in a great location! We had a great time staying at Evergreen Lodge with our extended family. There was plenty of room inside & out for the kids (8 of them!) to play. Everything is as described and pictured in the listing. The location was perfect for driving to all the sites and close to Custer for getting take-out and groceries. The gas grill and firepit were clean and in good working order. There is a second refrigerator in the detached garage which was very useful but it would be handier if it was in the basement. We were not able to put a vehicle in the garage but it wasn't stormy so it wasn't a concern. We visited/toured Wind and Jewel caves, Mt Rushmore, Deadwood, Legion and Sylvan Lakes, the Wildlife loop & Buffalo Center, Blue Bell Horseback riding, and the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs. The Mammoth Site was surprisingly well worth the time and the kids loved doing the Dig! Everything was beautiful and interesting and was an easy drive from the Lodge.I would highly recommend staying at the Evergreen Lodge for your Black Hills vacation!
Great property and great owner. Everyone loved the Evergreen Lodge. Diane was very accommodating and kept us informed of the weather issues that weâre heading our way. It was a very enjoyable stay in spite of the snow storms.
The house was the perfect size to accommodate our family and friends. It is clean, well maintained, and only minutes away from Custer SD. It had everything we needed to enjoy our Side x Side trip. I would recommend this property.
We are a group of four couples, who get together once a year for a weeks vacation. This year we chose Custer and the South Dakota Black Hills area. The cabin was great nice and roomy had lots of anemones and the beds were very comfortable. We felt like we were right at home and enjoyed Ourselves immensely
This property is centrally located to the central and southern Black Hills which was excellent for our stay. The house was as advertised and was very comfortable for our eight adults and three children. Everything we needed was provided for us including the extra refrigerator in the garage. There was ample parking on site and we enjoyed sitting around the gas fire pit. The only drawback was the gravel road leading to the house.
We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
Our family of eleven has rented many different houses for summer vacations. Evergreen lives up to its billing in all respects. It is clean, modern and spacious. Perfect location to visit the many places of interest in this area of South Dakota.
Our son got married at Sylvan Lake on 8.18.2023 and we wanted a place to hang out and have some fun in the area before the wedding. This cabin was in a great location (close enough but with a secluded feel), gave us plenty of space for the 8 adults we had (family and friends), and fun items to keep everyone busy (bags, fire pit, nice large table for nightly card games). The host, Diane, was very responsive and accommodating - helped make our wedding trip perfect! Would definitely recommend.
The location was perfect as it was close to almost everything we wanted to show our friends who had never been to the Black Hills. The house was beautiful and was so spacious. It was nice to have such a large space to accommodate all of us( we had 10) and we could have fit a whole other family . There was not a thing we didnât like and would and are planning to go back and stay here again. Price was reasonable and host was extremely easy to work with and get ahold of. 5 star property for sure!
Amazing Log Cabin and Location but the inside is worn out and needs TLC and the cleaning crew needs to keep it cleaner at check in. Has Holes in the ceiling and Bugs everywhere. We Killed probably 25+ bugs/flies and its freaking winter time.
Diane was easy to work with and flexible with our large group. She kept us well informed of everything with the property. The property was nice and cozy and right outside of town; not too far to grab some last minute items. Iâm glad we decided to go with Evergreen vs other cabins and resorts.
The only negative thing Iâd say is when we got there, there were some dirty utensils but that was easily fixed by just washing them. Nothing too major that we couldnât handle to make it a bad stay. I would stay here again if I come back to South Dakota.
There is one heater/thermostat and it is downstairs. Either the people downstairs freeze or the upstairs folks burn up. It was a small thermostat war between the folks upstairs and those downstairs. The four bathrooms are good but placed weird. Downstairs has two baths across from one bedroom and none at the other end by the other bedroom and bunkroom. Similar upstairs locations. Of the eleven of us, eight people used two baths and three used the other two. None of this affected the great time we had, simply an inconvenience.
