Private home less than 3 miles from desirable South Shore beach on Quicksand Pond. A private and peaceful home located in beautiful Little Compton, Rhode Island on 8 acres of land. Enjoy a vacation surrounded by stonewalls, meadows, on the pond, and only a short bike ride to the beach.

Renovations recently completed including fresh paint, new carpets, new bathrooms, air conditioning and all new linens and bedding. The first floor has a large kitchen set up for anyone who loves to cook. The first floor has an open plan with plenty of space to relax with family and friends. The first floor also has a kitchen with wood stove, full bathroom, sunroom, living room and office with a pullout coach (queen size) and television. The second floor has three bedrooms, two with a queen beds, a full bathroom, and the master bedroom with a king bed with its own bathroom soaking tub and shower. The third floor is perfect for kids with two bedrooms; one has a set of twin bunks and two additional twin beds, the other bedroom has a full bed. The basement has a washer and dryer, ping pong table, and extra refrigerator/freezer. Outside enjoy the large yard that leads to the pond. Sit by the fire pit and watch the swans and deer over a cup of coffee or a cocktail. Plenty of space for outdoor yard games. There is also an outdoor shower to clean up after a beach day and a new grill and a large outdoor table that seats 10.

We have two kayak (one kids kayak and one adult one) and a skiff (a flat bottom row boat) for you to use on the pond. There are a few beach chairs, beach wagon, beach toys, a cooler and beach bags for your use as well.

Close to Newport, Boston, Cape Cod or only a ferry ride to Block Island, Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. Enjoy beautiful beaches, nature trails, local vineyards, boating, surfing, organic farm stands and restaurants.

A once in a lifetime stay

My cousins and I were doing a family reunion in Little Compton and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The hosts were quick to reply, kind and incredibly helpful. We highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for an all around perfect vacation. We are excited to book here again.

Gorgeous property daily views of wildlife. S’mores every night at firepit. Whole family 6 adults 3adult kids and 5 grandkids hope to have our annual family reunion here.

We really enjoyed our stay at Quicksand Pond. We were in town for a family wedding in Westport. My 4 children, their spouses and my 5 grandchildren and I were very comfortable in your lovely home. The kids loved kayaking and spending time around an evening campfire. Thanks so much!

Quicksand Cottage

Fantastic house with everything you could possibly need in an ideal location close to everything. Sara the host (owner) is always available and responds quickly to any request or questions you may have. We have been renting in Little Compton for many years and will return for our 3rd stay here - its the perfect vacation home for our large family !

Lovely property and home

We had a multi-generational family staying for a week, and we couldn’t have been happier with the house. It had plenty of room to stretch out, and also to gather together. The grounds are amazing, and we really enjoyed the kayak/boat access on the pond.

Wonderful week

This was a beautiful, well equipped house. 2 separate eating areas (one indoor and one outdoor) provided plenty of space for our group of nine to have family dinners. The yard is spacious with plenty of room for games, a fire pit and yard chairs provided. Owners were lovely and made themselves available but not intrusive. Pond was terrific for kayaking.

Nice place for group getaway

This property is as advertised - lots of space for a group getaway. The property is secluded on lots of land. The owners are very engaged and respond to questions promptly. There is a nice grocery store nearby that has everything you could want. I definitely recommend this property!

Another wonderful stay on Quicksand Pond

This is our third year staying at Quicksand Cottage. We love the setting on the pond, enabling us to kayak, fish and swim right from home. And it is an easy trip to the ocean. Because the weather was not on our side, we spent a lot cooking in the great kitchen, watching the Olympics, playing pingpong doing puzzles and playing games. The house accommodates people doing lots of things in different spots. It is an easy place to relax in. Sara and Jeff are terrific hosts, very responsive and helpful. We love staying here!

Great property

Wonderful house with all we needed for large family group. Kids loved playing in the massive yard and trying to catch fireflies. Adults enjoyed relaxing and kayaking on the pond and watching the swans swim by. Close to plenty of activities but feels like your in your own world.

Exceeded Expectations

When looking for a place for our family Thanksgiving gathering I was not confident we could find something that would meet our needs. We wanted something 'nice' but not too precious that I would spend the weekend worrying about the kids damaging something. And we couldn't pay some of the outrageous prices we were seeing. This place fit the bill. it was upscale while still feeling homey and comfortable. And the price was fair. I appreciated the 'extras' such as a folding table in the basement, extra folding chairs, and a fully stocked kitchen. The Primary Suite had a very comfy King bed, a huge closet and the redone bath was luxurious. The owner was quick to respond to questions. There was a firepit and a pond on the property. More than one TV which was nice too. We highly recommend this place.

Another wonderful stay at Quicksand Cottage

We spent two weeks enjoying the house and its environs, our second time here. The house is perfect for our needs: plenty of bedrooms with comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen and lots of space indoors and out for games, reading and gathering. We were able to eat outside under the stars almost every evening. We love being able to kayak right from the house and there are really nice walks and bike rides as well. The hosts are responsive and clearly care that their guests enjoy a carefree time at the house. We will return!!!

Perfection!

Our house on Quicksand Pond was everything as promised and more. There was plenty of room for the 13 of us, plus everything we needed for cooking, eating, and beaching. It’s a great location for getting to South Shore Beach where we went every day for the week. Only thing missing was an umbrella for the outdoor dining area. With young kids we were eating early so the sun was still out in full force. But what a beautiful spot!!! Thank you Sara and Jeff for being such great hosts and providing everything we’d need for a fabulous family vacation.

Very cozy family getaway

Plenty of space for our entire family (and extended family) to spread out and enjoy our extended holiday!! The house and yard were perfect for us! Sound did travel through the walls, but that didn’t matter to us! Perfect place for our whole family!

Charming peace and quiet

This is such a lovely house, perfect for our family Thanksgiving gathering. The kitchen is huge and very well appointed. The beds were all quite comfortable. The property is set back from the road, and the huge yard was great for the kids to play lacrosse and football. Sara and Jeff very generously left us a gift of hot cocoa, prosecco, and candy. They also made sure that we would have a roasting pan for our turkey. We all enjoyed cozy fires in the woodstove and fireplace. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and find their own space. The kids liked having the office to make their own hangout. I would suggest that a house that large could use a little more seating options in the living room and more chairs at the dining table so that all could sit together for meals. That being said, it was quite idyllic, and we loved every minute. Check in and check out was a breeze. We will definitely keep this place in mind for future family getaways. The area is so charming, and Little Compton and Westport are both a quick drive away for grabbing anything you may need.

Beautiful long weekend

Our trip to Little Compton was a perfect fall weekend for our group of 8. 4 adults and 4 teens. Property was just as advertised. Clean, comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed sitting in the yard by the fire pit and walking around the property. We cooked meals at home and had all the equipment we needed. The surrounding area was scenic and we enjoyed farmers markets, apple picking and visits to Tiverton and Westport. Check in was easy. Would recommend this property.
