Core of this house goes back to 1898 although updated in the forties and has recent new bathrooms. Two of the rooms are attic rooms while the third faces the garden and the fourth the street. Guests report their best sleep - especially in the attic although we "blame" it on the comfy beds and the wood core spirit in this house. Kitchen is full equipped but simple and basic. Big dining table in the Livingroom and not to cluttered with furniture.
There were several in our group that were in Iceland for the first time. Our group really liked the quaintness of the property as well as its location being right in downtown area. Property instructions were laid out well and easy to follow. Thanks for a great stay in Iceland.
Absolutely perfect location, in the Heart of downtown. Host was very responsive and very accommodating. Rooms and beds were very comfy, and kitchen had everything we needed. Laundry room is a bit hard to find, but itâs there. 100% would/will stay again.
This was a great house for a group of 6 or 8. The location is fabulous. As others have mentioned, the stairs are a bit of a detriment. It is nothing fancy, but everyone slept well and we enjoyed being together. The host responded very quickly to any questions.
Very well located in the very downtown, and we have enjoyed very much our stay there.
The great inconvenience are the stairs; they are very uncomfortable for the ones who slept upstairs, even more if both toilets are in the downstairs.
The house couldn't be located in a better place. It's big, comfortable and was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. There might be a little noise from the street but that's downtown living. We love tjis house and woukd love to be back!
It was an amazing location, quick walk to all of downtown Reykjavik's attractions. Grocery and pharmacy across the street. It easily accommodated eight adults. The host was responsive and flexible. Thanks for a great stay!
Great location, near many restaurants, shops, and nightlife. Our teenagers enjoyed the extra space of the attic rooms. We could walk to the nearby swimming facility and a grocery store was across the street.
We had a phenomenal time. The location was absolutely perfect. There is a grocery store across the street and a ton of shops and restaurants a few steps away. It is on a street that turns into pedestrian only a block or so down, so it was a fantastic place to stay. The only drawback is the often mentioned stairs and low ceiling in the upper rooms, but if you can handle that then I would definitely recommend this place.
We had a great stay in Reykjavik! We had 8- 4 adults, 2 teens and 2 kids, and fit in the cosy house. The location was really nice! It was easy to walk to restaurants, shopping, bus stop, and do some sightseeing. 2nd floor ceilings are low and some shades could be better, given the long summer days. But, overall, a fun trip for us!
Excellent place to stay if you want to be right in the heart of the city and within walking distance to most tourist sites. The person that rents it out let us drop off our luggage early because we came off a cruise ship and then we did the Golden Circle tour. He was so courteous and personable to work with! The only issue was we had my 81 year mother with us and she had a hard time navigating the stairs. Also the upstairs bedding ceilings are a bit lower than expected so we bumped are heads a couple of times. However it was all worth it to be in this location and also drop our luggage off!
This is a great apartment located in the middle of EVERYTHING! It has the two top floors. The apartment is spacious and clean. There are two bedrooms on the main floor and two in the attic. The beds were very comfortable. It is located on Laugavegur, which seems to be one of the main streets in town. It is a very safe neighborhood. There are tons of restaurants, bars and stores all within walking distance. Across the street is a grocery store so you may purchase food to prepare during your stay.
Ăsgeir is a GREAT host. He was very accommodating of our needs, and very accessible. Take him up on his restaurant recommendations. He knows what he is talking about. We had one of my favorite meals of all time at a place he recommended, Sushi Social. Check it out!
Overall, it was a great stay for our Girl's trip. We would absolutely return.
We stayed here for three nights before our cruise and it had all we needed plus being in a great location. Plenty of space for the seven of us and if we ever had questions, Oskar was easy to communicate with. A fantastic choice for families!
The location could not be better. It was great for our children ( 6-8). The host was excellent and responded promptly. The kitchen and large table were perfect for our group of seven. ( For awareness the washer/dryer are out of the vrbo in the shared basement.)
The place was spotless, and well stocked with cooking supplies. Spacious, comfortable, and ideally located in the tourist area and very close to downtown. Less than a 20-minute walk to the bus station for the airport bus. The host was very helpful, and communication was great.
Strong cigarette smell
Laundry room un-useable due to clutter everywhere
Unsafe railing coming out of wall down stairs to laundry
Very dirty and dusty everywhere
Filthy oven and toaster
Broken dishwasher handle
Broken handle on cabinets and sticky cabinets
Food and dirt on walls
Dirty blankets on couches
Dirty couches
Hardly any Cookware
Not enough dishes or cups
Missing safety strips on some stairs
Bags of trash out back and total weed garden
Blamed housekeeper but issues so much bigger
The list goes on.....
Very good with lots of room for 5 of us. The top floor bedrooms had low ceilings so not great if you are very tall. Main floor bedrooms had regular ceilings. Grocery store across the street and lots of restaurants and shops nearby. A really good experience for my family. I would stay there again.
We had a wonderful 2 nights at this property before we headed north. It was very clean and welcoming. We loved cooking in the kitchen, it had all the things we needed to make a nice meal. And the refrigerator was big! Comfy beds and great dining table for game night.
We were in Iceland for 4 short days and this apartment gave us the perfect base for our trip! It was within walking distance to all the great restaurants, on a cozy side street but, close to the main road out to the countryside as well. The apartment was as advertised and we all (5 adults) had plenty of room. There's even a great view of Hallgrimskirkja from one bedroom window!
The only problems were the two flights of stairs (hard for two elderly ladies to handle) and no indication that the two upstairs bedrooms had very low ceilings. My 6ft 3 son and his 6ft 41/2 best man could not stand upright in their rooms.
We stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the house. The location is the best you can get in downtown Reykjavik. It's close to everything. Just a few blocks down the hill from the Church.
It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Kitchen stocked with everything we needed. Parking was easy. Always found parking space within 1 block.
We will definitely stay there next time we are in Reykjavik.
