Cedar Island with Boat Dock, 1 mile from Keaton Beach
A few notes:An hour before until an hour after low tide, you canât get in or out. I think most people know this about the canals but just in case.
Come with your boat and use the dock. Great waterfront house. Front porch with wonderful sunsets every night. 3 bedroom with bunk beds, master bedroom with master bathroom. Fishing gear, canoe, kayak. Bring your boat for scallops or fishing and tie up. Watch the video. A set of swing sets for the kids too.
House is on cement pilings and first floor is 22 feet in the air. Mezzanine deck and large private dock. Catch fish and crabs. Have large storage house next to it.
Enjoyed the area and had great luck fishing and scalloping. This home had the best kitchen cookware/utensils of all of our previous rentals in the last 3 years. There was a small boat ramp but there was no boat dock as the listing stated.
Everyone enjoyed the house very clean and comfortable it was a welcoming site after a day of scalloping. Mark has practically thought of everyone's needs by providing games ,dvd's, crab traps, fishing poles ,cast nets, gas grill. Things we'll leave off our next trip to downsize. Keaton beach boat ramp was our choice to launch, it was very busy on Saturday and the county had volunteers helping everyone with instructions and overflow parking assistance. There isn't any resturants very close but the convenience store has pizza to offerand non-ethanol fuel . No where grill was to the north 10 miles and Roy's 20 miles to the South. We all look forward to returning again soon.
Great house and location for scalloping. Bedrooms are nice and comfy. Kitchen is well stocked. Would for sure stay again. John is a great host makes sure everything is right.
We had a great time! Overall, the house is very nice! The interior is very nice and the owners have lots of thoughtful touches throughout like toys for young children, board games, dvds, baby gate, shampoo/soaps provided! Our kids enjoyed the bunk beds and telescope!
Very well stocked kitchen with griddle, waffle maker, blender. Fishing poles, crab traps, kayak, fish/scallop cleaning station were available for use. Swings outside for the kids!
The downside to this property is that it is 3 stories in the air (36 stairs). It was a haul to get everything inside/up and down daily. The really only deal breaker is the canal. It says "tidal" in the description and in reality while it is tidal, it becomes completely inaccessible. There was only a few inches of water at low tide and our boat was on the ground. If you don't time the tides correctly than you cannot leave or come. That means have to plan your activities around the tide is frustrating. There is WiFi, but no Cable TV (dvd only). Keaton Beach is only a few minutes down the road + a local boat ramp, which we used to trailer our boat the rest of the week so we did not have to depend on the tides. No stores nearby except for a gas station/mini Mart, which does have everything you need if you forget something. Bonus, they have milkshakes, which we loved after a hot day on the water! Great location for scalloping, we caught our limit 2/4 days!
We had an awesome time scalloping & fishing! Anytime we had a question the homeowner called or responded right away! Super nice guy! The house is beautiful, clean & comfortable! We enjoyed our week stay for sure!
Thanks John, really enjoyed the stay. You have been very accomodating and understanding with Hurricane Elsa coming thru. The house was very comfortable with plenty of space. Nice and clean!
