The room was clean and very quiet location given it is only a 10 min walk to busy Playa Del Carman . The beach is close by and the small pool was great to dip in on a hot day. We felt very safe and comfortable there.
We have stayed in Playacar Fase 1 and Fase 2. We have stayed in condos, all-inclusive resorts, and free standing homes. Villas Jaguar's location and amenities is one of the best values for your money in Playacar. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to spend their time and money on experiences and not the couch.
We stayed for 8 nights in late February of â25. The property is 2 short blocks from the beach. There are a few palm trees there, but they are in the public walkway, so itâs best to bring an umbrella or other protection from the sun. The villa is also close to town, so you get the best of both worlds- the privacy, safety and tranquility of the Playacar neighborhood, and also within walking distance to Playa del Carmen. We had a few requests when we first arrived and Carlos and the staff took care of everything. We rated the cleanliness with 4 stars because the water pressure in the kitchen sink was very low. Overall it was an excellent stay, and hope to visit again.
Completely lovely. Attractive room, nice patio, good shower, everything I needed, beach and ruins nearby, walking distance to everywhere I wanted to go.
The property was just as advertised. Very safe and comfortable neighborhood close to the beach. We walked into town frequently and enjoyed the ruins and the scenery along the way. Carlos checked us in and was available any time for questions. The little pool was refreshing and the room cooled off nicely with the AC. The bed was comfortable.
Great spot in gated community very close to beautiful beach. Had a little trouble at the gate & suggest name of house be provided to future guests. Very nice manager, Carlos, met us during torrential rainstorm to help us find & get into house. We had a brief but great stay in studio but would like to return with families & rent entire house. Easy walk to town on beach. Thank you for the perfect answer to our needs!
This unit was a ground floor studio or actually a large room with king sized bed and sparse kitchen inside of a 2 story structure behind the Villa Jaguar with other rentals inside. There was another similar building next door. My studio had a very nice patio overlooking the pool area with extensive palm, native trees and banana plants everywhere often visited by the agoutis who would search for food. There was always a breeze coming off the water 100 yards away and any other guests nearby were always quiet and considerate. Also there was little traffic noise or barking dogs which is a huge issue with me.
The manager Carlos was always helpful and would work to fix any problems that you might have during your stay as well as Amir the pool maint. guy or the cleaning lady and her family. I would not hesitate to stay there again. My only complaints are that the built in wall table is way too narrow to support a laptop and I think the electrical wall outlet is faulty as my laptop would lose power sporadically. I would also use earplugs as the mini refrig was a bit loud and the ceiling fan had only a medium speed. It is a bit pricey for long term renters considering that it is a studio but you are also paying for location and quiet. It is a 10 minute walk to the entrance of Playacar and another 15 minutes to La Quinta and Calle 10. Taxis from Calle 10 taxi stand will cost 150 pesos to get you back home......Senor Bohemia
My first impression was the owner Gustavo he was unpleasant and rude during a phone conversation. But due to my husbandâs obligations we decided to go for those dates in that location. Frankly, will not go back. Carlos and Amir were good staff thumbs up for these two.
Great location, lovely bungalow, great outdoor shower, lots of daylight inside, nice and quiet AC
The proximity to the beach is what makes this place perfect. It's a few steps to the beach, and a short walk to town. Safe feeling neighborhood and so peaceful and quiet at night. It's just a great spot and feels like you are at the cottage (for all you Canadians, you know what that feeling is)
QUIET RESIDENTIAL AREA, BEAUTIFUL POOL, HALF BLOCK TO THE BEST BEACH IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN
My husband and I (we are in our seventies) have been here for 5 weeks and one more week to go. We love the pool especially after swimming in the ocean. The pool is cool and 5 feet deep. I swim circular laps. No one has been in the other units, as we have been here during low season, so it's wonderful, BUT if there were people here you would not know it, as patios and balconies either hidden in the foliage and trees or hidden on the other side of the buildings. This unit is great as we have a view of the pool. The other unit on the main floor does not, but it is larger. Upstairs is the penthouse. Playacar Phase 1 is located in a secured gated residential area with security biking around 24/7 and very friendly (in fact we forgot the beach chairs and umbrella one night, as it rained and security had them at their office.) The beach is the best in Playa del Carmen. Further down are massive hotels.
Amir, maintenance, wife, Miriam, and son Elio are so helpful. Our maid Dalia is very sweet. They will attend to all your needs. Amir brings me books from other units when I run out. Carlos is the property manager and speaks fluent English. He and the owner rectified a bad functioning water heater immediately.
The internet works well on the patio or in the studio. The king bed is very comfortable. The bedspread and draperies very nice. The kitchen is minimal with under counter frig, but the freezer does not freeze. The TV is mainly in Spanish. Most of the units have mini-splits, but ours has an old A/C, but you really don't need A/C very often, as lovely ocean breezes. Bring mosquito spray from the states like âSkin So Softâ or something with Deet in it, which is banned here. What works for me is âRaidolitosâ, green spirals with citronella you light or âBye-Byeâ spray. My husband has not been bitten once, BUT the mosquitos love me!
5th Avenue, âthe streetâ is 3 blocks away. We usually walk a block and a half to the end of our street and then take the jungle stone path in back of the Archeological Zone or cut through the Archeological Zone to Starbucks, Oxxo (convenient store) and to 5th Ave and the Pier to Cozumel OR walk there on the beach it's quicker. We walk everywhere.
The English speaking church is Fellowship Church meeting at 10:45 at the City Express Hotel at the main entrance to Playacar from the highway (carretera).

We walk everywhere...the in English fairly recent movies in the Mall about a mile or so away across the hiway, walking along the quiet residential street. We walk to the grocery stores, Walmart, Chadraui (I like the best, as can get Havarti cheese) Soriana and Mega. It's a very walkable town and you should do it to get the flavor of the place. The farther back from 5th Ave, the cheaper the prices.
If you want an English speaking church. Fellowship Church meets at 10:45 at the City Express Hotel at the entrance off the hiway to Playacar. It also meets in Paamul in a huge palapa south of here and has a women's Beth Moore Bible study at 9:30 on Tuesday this winter. Pastor Doug Miller's wife, Darla leads it. I got a ride from someone who had a car. It doesn't matter how many times you aare able to go.
Me and my family stayed here in low season for 5 nights, it was definitely worth that price and we had a lovely stay. It is very close to the town, a 5-10min pretty walk through gardens and some ruins, or you can walk on the private road. We felt very safe as there are security patrolling all the streets at all hours. It is a sort of gated village of villas along the beach. And 2 minutes walk to the beach which is all white sand and amazing turquoise water.
They have a great big BBQ which we used one night, which was great.
We loved the sound of wildlife in the very lush tropical beautiful garden.
The internet is annoying as only works in a corner of the villa or if you stand in the garden. Bring mosquito repellent.
I would recommend this villa.
We staid 2 weeks during february and march 2012 and really enjoyed our stay in this condo for an attractive rate.
Location is 10 min to 5th avenue. You just need 60 meters walking to reach a wonderfull white sand beach. The pool is just in front of the house and the area is quite. Last but not least : people taking care of the house are so nice !
A very good adress in Playa
The villa has a great location in a very safe community, close to "Paseo del Carmen" and the beach is stunning. You will have a great relaxing time with access to many adventures close by.
