We are nestled between the luxury hotels of dorado and the lovely beach communities of Vega Alta.

The space
2 tiny buildings on a private lot with a little farm behind it. A casa, a casita y un poco finca. All you really need in life. A little room, some fresh veggies, herbs and access to the beach :)

The space is NOT shared and the property is very private. It faces a neighbor who we are close with and is very kind. When you book this space you have the casa and the casita all to yourself and our goal as hosts is to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We have created several private spaces beside the house for sunbathing and reading.

There are two structures on the property that are for our lovely guests.

The main house has a queen-size bed with AC in the bedroom and office as well as a sectional couch, so it sleeps 3 in total. The bathroom for the property is in the main house. The kitchen in the main house has everything needed for preparing meals and serving a group of 5.

The casita has a full-size bed and sleeps 2 comfortably. There is one hammock currently and plenty of room for tents. We are in the process of renovating a second bathroom and outdoor shower space.

When there are only 2 guests renting the space we keep the second bedroom closed to reduce cleaning. To request the additional space please notify us of your preference, we are happy to accommodate last-minute guests. If you bring friends or meet friends just let us know!

We are in the process of repairing many aspects of this property so it is not for those who are easily offended or scared of insects. This is a house in the middle of the jungle by the beach so we do get mosquitos and animals nearby. Please only book if you love nature and are comfortable with imperfections.
OUR BRAND HOUSE OF ZEN HAS BEEN ALIVE FOR 7 YEARS. WE FOCUS ON TAKING OLD STRUCTURE WITH POTENTIAL AND TURN THEM INTO COMFORTABLE EASY, SAFE SPACES FOR OUR GUEST.
THIS PROPERTY IN VEGA ALTA WAS RENTED IN FEBRUARY 2020. THE OWNER ABANDONED SPACE FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS. UNTIL WE FOUND IT ON THE INTERNET. FOR US IT BECAME GOLD AND FOR OTHER TRASH.

Some areas where the house has metal are damage & rusted by the salt in the air. This is something that we can not control and are working very hard to find investment capital to fix in the nearby future.

PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE WITH US AS THIS PROJECT WILL BE EXPANDING SOON AND OUR ONLY GOAL IS TO MAKE IT COMFORTABLE FOR EVERYONE!


We try very hard to be transparent about the condition of the house as we are improving it. To be clear :

- There is only hot water in the shower via a plug-in attachment. The water pressure is not very high. The AC only cools the bedrooms and during the day it is hot.
- It is a very small house and the bedrooms are small the beauty of it is the outside and location by the beach.
-The windows will be replaced with glass but for now, they open slightly and there will be bugs. We provide repellant but it’s an island.
-If you leave food out there will be bugs. If you are scared of bugs they are outside and sometimes come inside. C’est la vie.
-Sometimes the power goes out for an hour. We provide a generator and candles. It’s an island thing ever since the hurricane.
-The WiFi is good not great, it slows down when there is a rainstorm. Island life.

Along the back side of the house is an outdoor shower surrounded by nature and private from the street. Enjoy the water in the sunshine and connect with nature.

In the back of the house is a small permaculture garden we call “Finca Organica” . You will see the different stages of plants. We have been working to turn the sand into soil for 2 years now and are very proud of our work so please be gentle with the young plants.

We are planting papaya, mango, banana, plantain and peppers. You will find a lot of hibiscus plants flowering around the edge of the property and many succulents including Aloe Vera. Aloe can be used on sunburn and is great for cuts or skin problems.

We can’t wait to share the space with you and continue to improve it together!

45 minutes from San Juan.
1 hour from the SJU airport.

Getting around
The best way to your the island is by Jeep, you can easily rent via Enterprise or Avis or Hertz or Vias located at the airport and in dorado.

There are plenty of Uber’s available in our area and there are always local taxis.

There is also a bus system that comes to Dorado from San Juan.

WARNING****

When coming to any town out of the city in Puerto Rico a TROPICAL ISLAND you will notice many insects around us due to our climates. Usually after rain and before and during full moon Insects come out and we need to deal with them from 5 am-8 am and 5 pm-7 pm. We provide bud repellent, citronella candles, and coils to control the bugs when needed.

If you can not adjust to these conditions THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU OR YOUR GROUP.

We create a balance with nature because of her is why WE ARE ALIVE.

IF you desire a boring enclosed space design for people who do not want a real connection with nature you can find plenty of those in the city.

Do use an anti-itch cream or use an antihistamine.
Do stay indoors with a fan pointing at your body during the early morning hours.
Do use insect repellent when you are going outdoors.
Do avoid exercising outdoors.
Do avoid using scented perfume or colognes that may attract insects.
Do shower multiple times if you sweat constantly mosquitos and other bugs love human oils.


We prefer to be extremely honest to avoid any discussion or misunderstanding.

House of Zen is inspired by nature and we make sure to embrace it but we also make sure you have all the tools needed to deal with them if you decide to join us.

We make sure our cleaning staff follows every step to deliver a clean space.

Almost every morning you will encounter the wild horses that roam around the neighborhood.
