Beachfront Casita with Spectacular Ocean views in Roatan!
Welcome to the Gypsea Roatan! We have a split Casita right on the beach! Nestled in the natural beauty of the East End we have made sure to bring a modern feel while incorporating the natural setting that surrounds us. From natural rock pathways to using local Honduran woodwork we wanted to honor the beauty of Roatan! Each unit is a one bedroom/one bathroom king room with a large shared deck to enjoy your own little piece of paradise! Whether you prefer to sit on the deck or hammock and quietly enjoy a book, or kayaking out to the reef and snorkeling some of the most beautiful reef in the world, weâve got you covered. Also with the village of Punta Gorda next door, you can take a short kayak trip over to several restaurants if you donât feel like eating in or driving.
It was so peaceful and relaxing, highly recommend this place. The use of the kayak was amazing. Everybody was so helpful when needed. Itâs a hidden gem, check it out.
I loved staying on the East side of the island. If you want peace and quiet look no further. This casita is away from droves of people and lots of activity. The coral reef is amazing to snorkel. You can bird watch, see beautiful sunsets and fireflyâs light up the night sky. So thankful for Misty and Mattâs hospitality.
Wonderful little double bungalow looking out on beach. Very private since there were no quests next door. Kind of tricky to find and not near services or stores.
We had a great time. We wanted something outside of the bigger tourist areas to relax. This place was perfect for us. Everything was clean and the hosts were great and explained everything to us. I would recommend an SUV or jeep style vehicle because the road getting there was rough, just need something with more ground clearance. It was nice getting to relax in the hammock provided and listen to the waves and feel the breeze. They even supplied us with champagne to celebrate or anniversary. The only thing I might recommend is an ice maker, the little freezer just doesn't make very much ice. Great time and would definitely stay there again!
The suite was clean. However not suitable for anyone that is not able bodied as the stairs down to it are rocks, uneven and not well lit. If you are looking to hang out, relax or cook a meal this place is NOT for you. There is no comfortable seating inside or out. Only folding wood chair outside and folding metal chair inside. The bed is the only place to stretch out. No place to put your suitcase other then the floor. Would be very difficult to cook anything. The dock is in ill repair with no chairs to sit on it and no ladder to access the water. The âbeachfrontâ is not swimmable as itâs rocky, muddy and full of sea grass. Also we recommend an SUV to get to this house as the roads to it are gravel, steep and bumpy
If you are wanting peace and quiet - this is the place! Amazing beachfront property, 10-minute kayak paddle out to amazing snorkeling, great local restaurants and beaches! Our hosts, Bill and Sharon, were very attentive and knowledgeable. The sunsets were off the charts beautiful. We will be back.
This place is amazing!!! Private- exactly what we were looking for !!
We stayed on the West end for the 1st half of our trip, then moved here for some relaxation and privacy. The photos of the ocean in the listing are taken from your porch, and it is BEAUTIFUL! The rooms are like a king bed efficiency apartment except the hotel style bathroom and shower are very large, very clean, very nice and the entire property is really incredible. At the hosts recommendation we opted to rent a small front wheel drive car and even though the driveway is a bit steep, we had no issues accessing the property and surrounding areas. We used the 2 person Kayak (provided for free!) for our own private outings. The property is shielded from the wind, some afternoons the wind picked up further out on the water but most days we had no issues. Sharon, Bill and Matt were VERY helpful with locations of local restaurants and attractions- and where the snorkeling buoys were located. take the Kayak, tie off on a buoy, you are in the reef for snorkeling!! The reef here is ALIVE!! Amazing structure and abundant sea life. A stingray and I found each other around a point in the coral and kinda scared the heck out of each other, lol! A small fridge, coffee maker, induction cooktop and other basic kitchen ware is provided. The dock has suffered a little damage but we used it safely and the plans to work on it will be taking place soon. If you are looking to make your own adventure rather than sit in a resort- this is perfect place. The West end, West bay, Brewery, etc are all accessible from here on day trips to the portions of the island you wish to explore. In Punta Gorda we had Machuca at the Tomato, Ceviche at Wangunda and seafood at the Garifina- all in Punta Gorda, accessible by a short drive or kayak across the small bay. Directions to get there the 1st time included photos and were very easy to follow. We loved it, and we'll be back. -Ray and Sorya
