This red brick house was totally renovated during the 2020-21 winter season. Enjoy "new" everything!! There are a couple of surprises like a beautiful wood wall uncovered during the renovation that is now refinished. Also, part of the red brick remains as a feature behind the TV. The house has a fully outfitted kitchen with new appliances, dishes, pots and pans. The furniture is brand new to begin the summer season 2021, and there is a new heating and cooling system to adjust for your comfort.

Best of all you will have shared access to our private 50-foot Elk Lake lot. The only other guests who will have access to the lot are possibly 4 guests in our VRBO house next door.

Elk Rapids is 5 miles north and Traverse City is about 20 miles south. Stay here and enjoy peace and quiet at the lake or venture to our local towns for shopping, tasting tours at the wineries, visiting the dunes, enjoying a day on Mackinaw Island and eating at one of our local restaurants..

We love this property. Not worried about traffic, kids have a farm to run on and the Lake access is perfect.

Would stay again!

The house was like brand new. Beautiful finishes, everything there you could want including K Cups and snacks - so thoughtful. The house was absolutely spotless and gorgeous. Barb was a very gracious host and was a pleasure to chat with. We would stay there again for sure. We wanted a quiet and relaxing long weekend and it was perfect. Thank you Barb!

Girls weekend

Girls weekend for ten of us turning 60 years old. Very nice location. Explored both Elk and Torch Lake. Enjoyed shopping both Elk Rapids and Traverse City.

Wonderful place to stay

Couldnt have asked for a better place to stay! Owners were fabulous. Neighborhood was very quiet & peaceful. The house had everything, literally everything you need for your stay. Would definitely recommend.

ELK LAKE VACATION

This is our 3rd year renting. Perfect quiet setting, little to no traffic, kids can run free, perfect lake frontage. Close to Elk Rapids. Home is new with all the amenities ...dishwasher, Central Air, TV, Deck... The hosts are lovely people.

Clean and spacious

What a special place to rent. The red brick house is absolutely beautiful! It’s so clean and the layout is perfectly designed. Very spacious and practical. Beautiful view of the lake with outdoor seating area to have coffee in the morning that shaded. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it to friends and family!

July 2022 Getaway

Property was spotless, recently renovated and located within walking distance to Elk Lake. Quiet and peaceful location. Barb Dean was excellent to work with and left us a bowl of freshly picked cherries from the adjacent cherry farm. We had a wonderful stay.

Great Stay

This property was perfect for the time we spent for our first visit to Traverse City area. Barb was an amazing host and so thoughtful to hand deliver fresh cherries from the orchard this house is situated on. This property is not on the lake but a short walk will get you a nice sunrise if the weather permits! Thanks again Barb!

Perfect holiday

This home is gorgeous - spacious, well-appointed, and absolutely spotless. It's a few steps down to the water, where we enjoyed some wine and charcuterie at sunset. Fluffy towels, comfortable beds, thoughtful goodie baskets - Barb and Dennis thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable! They are spectacular hosts, and we will absolutely be returning for another stay!

Beautiful house!

My wife and I enjoyed our weekend getaway very much. The house was in pristine condition and very clean. Location was very peaceful. Check in and check out was incredibly seamless.

Very Nice Property

The house was nicely updated and very clean. We were just there for a short stay so we didn’t get to take advantage of all the property has to offer, but would definitely rent again. Barb was super nice and accommodating - oh and bonus there are little SNACKS when you check in. I love snacks :) I also have to mention the high quality THICK towels, we have stayed a lot of places and the towels are always small and thin, not here. - sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact. Thank you Barb (and Dennis)

Recommend without hesitation ~

The property was perfect for us. It was even better than the pictures showed (which were good to begin with), well appointed, CLEAN and comfortable. While we did not do any cooking, the kitchen has all of the supplies you would look for or need. The location is centrally located for the areas we visit whem we are Up North. The host, Barb, was delightful to talk with, responsive to all inquiries in a timely manner and shared resources available in the area. We especially enjoyed hearing about some of the history of the property/area. There were thoughtful touches of snacks upon arrival and a basket of items for showering if needed. My husband, daughter and son-in-law all agree with me that we would recommend this property or any property hosted by Barb and her husband ~ it was that pleasant / enjoyable. Thank you!

Lovely House, Peaceful Retreat

We stayed at the Brick House while my daughter went to the Traverse City Horse Show and loved it. The location was great - both close to the show for us, but also close to all the area has to offer. You could easily get to Elk Rapids, Traverse City, Grand Traverse Resort and other day excursions easily. But it you just wanted to enjoy a peaceful day on the lake, staying at the house was a great option! We had easy access to the lake with a short walk, a lovely back yard and porch and we were surrounded by a cherry farm which made for a peaceful place to relax after the horse show. The house is newly renovated and has everything to cook and grill, great laundry area and all round clean and lovely furnishing, etc. Barb was super sweet and a great host. There was a huge storm the day before we came and power was out when we arrived. She was great keeping us updated and getting us what we needed to get through the hiccup. We would absolutely stay again and recommend to others visiting the horse show - or coming to visit the area!

Private and Perfect

We rented both of Barbara and Dennis's houses. It was like a little family vacation compound. Barbara and Dennis thought of every little thing you needed but did not fill the houses with crippy crap. Can't say enough about their property. This is my second year. Plan to become regulars.

Short and sweet

We were in the TC area for wine tasting and quick get away for an evening. Barb was so welcoming and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with her during check-in. The house was clean and well done. We enjoyed our quick stay.

Perfect vacation getaway

This is a newly renovated 2BR 1 bath house part of a family orchard compound (cherry orchard still operational). It's totally renovated and perhaps the best stocked house we've ever rented. Barb did a great job with high-end appliances, cookware and has thought of everything for the kitchen. Furthermore, there were beach towels, soap/shampoo and some start supplies for the laundry room. A nice snack basket with Kuerig coffee pods were also provided ... very nice touch. It was a very short walk to their vacant lot on the water, with 4 lounge chairs/tables provided. For those wanting your own private beach-front/dock vacation, this is not it. BUT, the location is amazingly close to Elk Rapids (5 minutes) and an easy drive to Traverse City.
