We had a great stay at this house! Itâs an easy walk into town and convenient location on the island. The house was comfortable for our group of five adults. Would definitely stay again!
The guest house at Blue Crab is charming, inviting, and the perfect place to stay for a real Nantucket experience. The open kitchen area allows for comfortable down time, the sunny views and sweet backyard patio provide an "escape" feel, but the best part is the perfect location. Just a straight, easy mile walk into town for shopping and action, allows you to have best of both worlds...it's just a sweet and charming as the pictures show. This one's the real deal!
The property exceeded expectations on all fronts - it is a lovely, classy, comfortable space that worked perfectly for my wife and inlaws. It's about a 25-30 min walk to the heart of downtown and an easy drive to all breaches. Can't say enough good about it - and Heather was super responsive. I'd give it 100 stars if I could. Nantucket is still my fave place on that planet!
Place was nice and tidy, however the water tasted like rust. The shower was stained from it as well as the water in the toilets with an off brown/yellowish color and the inside of dishwasher. No hot tub/jacuzzi as advertised. Clean otherwise and good location
When we first arrived we were unable to get in because of the deadlock and the manager phone number was incorrectly listed on the VRBO page. After many hours we were able to get in and when we finally got in contact with the manager she was very apologetic and assured us that this had never happened before and that it would be fixed in the future. So after the initial snafu, communication was great. I feel I have to note that VRBO customer service was terrible.throughout the process of trying to get in contact with the owner.
The place was as described but is in need of some updates. There were some stains in the shower floor and lots of the kitchen wear was beyond its use date (pans for example). For what it cost, we expected a bit of a higher level of cleanliness.
The location was great and easy to get to. There is another property within a few feet of the house which isnât clear on the listing. The patio was great to sit on for breakfast. In general, this house was good for our purposes.
This cottage was perfect for our long weekend stay on Nantucket! It is about 1 mile from the shops and restaurants in Nantucket Town, which we could easily walk to. The owner also provided bikes which we rode to Bartlett Farms for the 1/2 marathon and Cisco Brewers afterward. The cottage was charming, had a large living and kitchen area and included all the amenities we needed. Perfect for our family of 4!
Wonderful place to stay in Nantucket and a great property owner
Sharon is very kind and promptly responded to all of our questions. The house is beautiful and relaxing to hang out in.
When the weather from hurricane Ian blew into the island and shut down all the ferries, she graciously offered an extra night for free until we can get off the island the following day.
I definitely recommend this property and would stay here when traveling to Nantucket!
Enjoyed the location and quiet neighborhood. Short bike ride to town for coffee and muffins. Wonderful private back patio. Conveniently located to bike paths. Definitely recommend this cottage for couple or small family.
Our family of four (w/ teenagers) staying for a week in early August. It slept all of us comfortably. Kitchen allowed for us to make all of our meals in. The place was great and had everything we needed. Close to downtown (15-20 minute walk) and also within a short bike ride of the beaches. We used the beach chairs, umbrella, cooler and bikes very often. Just note that is shares a driveway with another rental property owned by the same owner. But the people staying next to us were awesome and actually made our time more fun. I highly recommend this place.
We stayed on this property a few years go and returned again - our two children loved the 2nd bedroom being on the 1st floor and having their own space. The location is quiet but not overly remote (it's about a 10-minutes walk to town). Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good location that's not too close to town (but close enough). We brought our car with us and found it was helpful for quick trips to the beaches and supermarkets.
We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Crab Cottage. The home is convenient to town or either end of the island if youâre into exploring like us! Fully equipped and provided everything we needed for our stay. Sharon was wonderful to communicate with, as well.
Not complaints, just a few things to note if traveling with kids: the bedrooms are on separate levels making it a little difficult with a young child. The road at the end of the driveway is dirt, so make sure you bring your jogger with big wheels if you plan to walk to town.
The bones of the cottage are quintessential Nantucket. A few updates to the living room and bedding and and this will be a 5 star property!!
The cottage is perfectly located down a dirt road, just a short distance from town and an easy drive to all the best beaches. Sharon was extremely responsive and helpful with all my inquiries. I did have an issue with the washing machine but I am certain it will be fixed for the next guests.
We were greeted by Paul, who offered some tips regarding biking around the island. Paul and Sharon, our hosts, were very kind and responsive. The house was clean and comfortable and well located for us to get around the island by bicycle.
We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Crab Cottage for the Christmas Stroll. It was close enough to walk into town for all of the festivities. The house was comfortable and cozy for four adults. It was very private and quiet. We would definitely recommend this rental!! Sharon was very responsive prior to our weekend for my questions.
Our family of four had a lovely stay in this Nantucket gem. We had everything we needed for our trip, from beach towels and chairs to every the necessity in the kitchen. The location is perfect! A lovely 15-20 minute walk to town restaurants and shopping. Quick Uber rides to the best beaches on the Island. The owner of the house was responsive and super easy to work with. Highly recommend.
Such an easy, central location for biking to beach and walking to town! Perfect size for a family of 4, well-equipped kitchen, wonderful patio for morning coffee. Extremely comfortable, and we had a lovely visit to the island.
Sharon made everything super easy and convenient, everything available in the house that we needed. Roofers came very early before check out that was not ideal but otherwise house was perfect and location. Would for sure rent again.
This was the perfect place for my sisters and I to enjoy a Sisters and Nantucket Stroll weekend. The house was clean and cozy and very conveniently located. We were able to walk into town for the weekend festivities, and then come back to the house for some relaxation. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend on Nantucket.
Great Location and home design; sticky doors and "worn" interior
First impression was good, until we tried to gain access through the front door, which was so tightly stuck, we couldn't open it without great force, leaving us with needing to leave the door slightly ajar (and unlocked). The back door had the same issue, thus, unfortunate. Also, cleanliness would be a 5 out of 10. Towels were stained, kitchen counters were not clean, missing lightbulbs in island pendants, sofa was worn and uncomfortable, etc. It could be a 10, considering the location, AC, and some of the nice furnishings, good closet space, etc. Unfortunately, the negatives were pretty distracting. Not sure we would rent there again without some assurances that the items mentioned were completely addressed.
We had a great visit to ACK staying in Sharon's "Close To ___ " garage apartment - all four of our family fitting in very comfortably. July weather was superb, never caused us to "house bound" the entire 2 weeks. As reported the location was an easy 10 min. walk to town's Main St.; just a short dirt road bike-peddle to the Madaket Rd. bike path; and a 5 min. bike ride or 15 min. stroll to the north beach between the Jetties and Dionis west of Cliffside. Uber'd from there without any problem to the south shore beaches and Cisco Brewery. And best of all, it was a peaceful spot away from the would-be traffic congestion in town. Backyard patio fits about 4-6 people well, and was quiet if main house guests weren't in the grassy back yard of that adjacent house - never an issue during our stay. Never noisy next door although one is conscious of those guest's movements (comings/goings) in the main house. Especially loved the "upside-down" floor plan with the kitchen, living area and main bedroom upstairs to catch the breeze. Entrance hallway w/ washer/dryer closet and one other bedroom (2 twins) downstairs ground floor with garage. One full bath upstairs - note, just one shower/toilet so you have to share! Plenty of closet space in the two bedrooms though, no sharing necessary. Good responsive property manager fixed a water problem same day. Never got to the bottom with Sharon of our laundry issue though. You'll really like this location, the brightness of the house - lots of screened windows upstairs, well-architected - and outside appearance in addition to the back patio. Particularly cozy stand-alone apartment for a family of four sleeping - one queen and two twin beds. Not recommending you try to entertain 10 for dinner as you'd be stepping on one another's toes! Maybe 6 for dinner, ha-ha. Ultimately it's great for sleeping a small group who's active at the beach or one the water every day which we were. Enjoy!
I hired an architect and landscape architect to design and build this house. It is quite new and very roomy for a 2 bedroom house. The decor is peaceful, comfortable and has that Nantucket cottage feel.
