really enjoyed our stay with Christophe and Christelle in their fantastic property. Great location, lovely views, stunning sunsets.Good location for visits to lots of historical and scenic places.Christophe was very helpful with his advice on places to see. Will definitely be coming back again. This is a beautiful home that will not disappoint. I describe it as a "home" because it truly has all of the comforts of home plus a view that words cannot describe. It also feels like home because of the kindness and helpfulness of Mr. and Ms. Gardon who treated us like family. Langlade is an idea location to explore all of of the surrounding quaint villages and historic sites. We are so happy that we stayed at this amazing spot!
We arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon and the apartment was exactly as described. We found the village easily and Mr Gardon came to meet us there to show us the way to the house. The apartment was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. It was a very quiet location and we were made to feel very welcome. The location is convenient for trips out into the countryside and the Mediterranean. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to 'get away from it all'. Lovely villages surround the apartment and beautiful walks are signposted nearby Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
We had a wonderful two weeks in the Palm apartment, soaking up the sun, lazing in the pool and enjoying the amazing views. The apartment was very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. Christophe and Christelle were very welcoming hosts, and attentive to our needs. We can honestly recommend this property and the surrounding area to explore. There are a lot of historical sights nearby, and the Camargue is within very easy reach. Needless to say the local wines and cheeses are excellent. The local village restaurant (L'inattendu) also provides a delicious meal (although with only a relatively small choice). We would love to return at some future time. - Ian Browne (Surrey, UK)
* we stayed from 8/8/15 for a week but I can't seem to add that date - The property is accurately described, the highlight being the pool and decked area. The pool and jacuzzi were a little cold to stay in for long but served well to cool off. The pool temperature would be my only slight complaint, that and the difficulty of getting into the jacuzzi (there aren't any steps and it's a bit of a climb for the less than athletic). The decked area is very relaxing with plenty of loungers, parasols and seating. There is also a covered area housing a gas BBQ and a separate toilet and shower. The pool lights up at night and the view across the valley and of the village is fantastic. We spent most of our time around the pool.
We travelled with friends so I got to see both properties as we rented them both between us. Gite Palm was in my opinion the nicer with a couple of patio doors and a four poster bed. This sleeps 4 with the double bed in the main and only bedroom and a double settee bed (although this is not a cheap bed but sturdy and comfortable) in the lounge. The kitchen is equipped with microwave, hob, coffee machines, juicer, dish washer and washing machine. Everything but an oven but the microwave has a grill, to summarise everything that you'd need.
Gite Olive was the bottom gite and has a main bedroom and double bed, bunk beds in an atrium area and a settee bed in the lounge. It's equipped as Palm. Both have air conditioning but only a single unit it Olive having to service the whole gite.
Monsieur Gardon was very helpful before we arrived and quickly responded to any emails. Having met us he was however on holiday for the week but left help in the way of Michael.
Langlade is a lovely French village but only has the one restaurant within walking distance, this was closed during our visit as the owners were also on holiday. Others could be found within a short drive (Sommieres is nice).
All in all we had a great stay and would recommend to a friend. I think it helped that Monsieur Gardon was away as we didn't have to be conscious of the noise the kids were making in the pool, having not travelled like this before I'm not sure what I would have made of it if they were about. We met both Monsieur Gardon and his wife who were very friendly and clearly proud of the beautiful property so I think everything would have been as good had they have been there.
We stayed a week in each gite, so are able to review both and compare. Gites Palmier and Olivier each have their particular advantages, but the overall rating is a straight 5-star for both. They are attached to the main house, on the edge of the village. Olivier is at ground level while Palmier is a floor above, next to the living area of the main house. As Olivier is set forward, there is no one above and it is the quieter of the two. You can hear occasional noise from the house in Palmier. The situation up on a hillside gives great views across the plain to the Cevennes hills in the distance. As the horizon is low, you get the sun all the way through the evening- there is no dipping behind hills at teatime. The views from Olivier are good; from Palmier simply glorious. Both gites are very well equipped. Olivierâs furnishings appear newer. The standard of furnishing is high. The beds are unusually comfortable with excellent mattresses. Aircon and shower were fine. Wi-Fi, TV etc. all good. Both gites were spotless. Olivier downstairs is quieter, further from the main house, newer and a little better equipped. Palmier is lighter (the living room area has windows on three sides, two of which are full sliding patio doors) with better views. I preferred its terrace as well. The pool area is great- jacuzzi, solarium, barbecue- all well thought out and designed. The owners were charming, friendly and helpful, very promptly helping with odd problems such as us not being able to figure out how to operate the touch controls on the (very new) hob. Langlade is a pleasant village with an old centre and newer developments around the edge. You can walk around the wooded hills surrounding it. There is a boulangerie in the centre and two supermarkets about three minutesâ drive away on the edge. Thereâs a big new Casino supermarket, but the smaller and less impressive-looking Dia is closer, better stocked, friendlier and busier. Langlade is well placed for visiting the surrounding area. The motorway is ten minutes away on the edge of Nimes, provided you avoid peak times. We also found that by driving south out of Langlade and getting onto the D135 enabled us to drive on quieter roads. These are excellent places to stay and fully merit the 5 stars. Highly recommended.
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefĂŒhlt und Christophe war immer fĂŒr uns da. Er hatte immer gute Tipps was man unternehmen kann. Die Wohnung war sauber und gut ausgestattet. Wir sind sehr zufrieden!
We have stayed with great pleasure two weeks in gite L'Olivier. Of course we read in reviews about the difficult and steep road to the villa but with some rest it turned out to be no problem at all. The flat was fine and fully equipped. The bed took some getting used to, from 180 cm wide at home to barely 140 cm but a problem? No! Because the villa has only two flats, in addition to the main tenant, a relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed. We really appreciated the peace and quiet that the villa offered us. The pool is fantastic and the view unique.
Despite all the positive findings, there is one important point of attention. We had two weeks with plenty of sun and 29 to 33 degrees every day. But at the same time we had the misfortune that many of those days there was also a strong wind. Nice when it was that hot, but because of that it was not an option to open the parasols at the swimming pool or near the flat. Because the villa and L'Olivier do not offer any shade anywhere else, that is a serious disadvantage. Not being able to get out of the sun in that kind of sunny and warm weather is actually not healthy either. By the way, we often went out from Langlade. To the Camarque (2Ă), Arles, Nimes, UzĂšs, Pont du Gard, Aigues Mortes, Le Baux de Provence and a ride with an old steam locomotive through the Cervennes from Anduze. In short, we really enjoyed two weeks. Thank you Christophe on behalf of Harrie and Ineke.
Overall experience from booking to departing was excellent.
Mr Gardon was very helpful and answered all our emails and questions prompt and in English . On arrival he was extremely welcoming, supplied us with places to visit and arranged for us to visit a local Chateau for a tasting, well worth the walk. Property is very well located, lots of places to visit within easy reach...a supermarket within 5 drive and a bakers a short walk down the hill...and back up again, but warm croissants were worth it. The inside has been tastefully decorated and its light, airy interior is very homely and inviting. It has a fully equiped kitched with many appliances including, a much appreciated, proper fridge/freezer. Modern bathroom and a good sized bedroom, with King bed, also plenty of storage. The private balcony is great for enjoying meals with a great ever changing view. The pool, hot tub and sun lounge area has the most amazing views. We enjoyed many days in the hot tub studying it. The pool is cool and refreshing on warm/hot days. Many details have been carefully thought out, as up there is a gas BBQ, bathroom and a toilet. It is really hard to find a fault with our experience. So hope that anyone reading this will enjoy if you decide to visit.

Everything was as hoped! The owners gave us a warm welcome, showed us around and explained how everything worked. Fortunately Christophe spoke excellent English! The gite was smart, clean, well-equipped, and had a private terrace with a magnificent view. We tried the fabulous pool.Staying in May, the water was quite invigorating but it will be brilliant for hot summer days! The jacuzzi good any day.
The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedding. We were pleased the television had many international stations and we were able to watch the news and play DVDs.
Unexpected highlights for our stay was the wonderful Sunday market at the nearby town of Calvisson and the lovely walks in and around the Voie Verte.
