Private Beachfront House with Heated Pool in Quaint Coastal Town
This adorable 3-bedroom, 2-bath beachfront casa is on one of the nicest sand beaches in all of the East Cape. Snorkel, kayak, fish and relax right out front, or lie with a beverage by the heated pool. Think privacy, peace, elbow-room, tranquility and immediate access to the two main reasons you are coming here - the Sea of Cortez and the beach! Oh yeah, and the heated pool!
Casa Ventanas del Mar is located on the edge of the quaint town of El Cardonal, about 30 minutes north of Los Barriles. El Cardonal boasts three very good restaurants, a few small markets, one charming sports bar that serves great drinks and pizza, and one small locally owned hotel. Other than that, it's sand and crystal blue water!
The house is located on the southern end of a beautiful stretch of white sand beach. With nearly 200 feet of beach frontage and a kilometer long undeveloped arroyo to our south, you will have a lot of space and privacy all to yourselves! Watch for whales in the winter and spring, dolphins and jumping manta rays year round! The large heated pool has a big patio surrounding it for relaxing, reading a book, enjoying a cocktail or staring at the ocean. Or if you are a swimmer, you can swim laps in the 40 meter long pool.
Casa Ventanas del Mar offers ample space for 1-2 families or 2-3 couples to enjoy. The master bedroom boasts unbelievable views of the beach and Sea of Cortez. It features a queen bed and en suite bathroom with shower. The second queen bedroom opens up to the pool and patio area and features a queen bed and direct access to the shared 2nd bathroom and the interior courtyard. The third bedroom is also accessed from the internal courtyard and features a set of queen bunk beds.
Casa Ventanas del Mar has a beautiful kitchen and living area with endless views of the beach, pool and ocean. The living area features a 14' palapa ceiling and opens up to the expansive outdoor patio and pool area. The dining room table seats 6 comfortably with additional seating available at the kitchen's bar top. The pool area features "Las Ventanas del Mar" - windows to the ocean. In the winter, the wall and window shades provide wind protection to allow enjoyment of the pool and patio even on the windiest of Baja winter days.

Important Notes:
Heating the Pool is an Additional Cost. While most properties charge a substantial upcharge, we only charge you for your actual propane usage. This allows you to chose the temperature you would like us to set the thermostat at. The cost varies substantially based on time of year, ambient temperature, wind conditions, the temperature you would like the pool to be set and the diligence in which you keep the pool covered when not in use. It could run between $10-$75 per day once you achieve your desired temperature. We do require a heating deposit equal to $150 for the first night and $75 for each additional night of your reservation. This would typically be marginally above what it would cost to heat the pool to the high 80s during our winter windy season. We return any unused portion of the deposit after you check out.

Andy & Katy have been traveling to Baja for over 20 years, first as sea kayak guides leading trips in the Loreto area. More recently, they've been coming to the East Cape with their kids and friends, renting beach houses and getting to know the area.
Andy & Katy owned and operated an adventure travel company and guest lodge in Idaho for 15 years, leading trips in Africa, Central & South America, Baja and throughout the western United States.
The Nachman family includes their two kids Abi (13 going on 17) and Graeson (10). They spent a year living in Patagonia in 2015, hiking, climbing and learning Spanish. when they aren't living overseas or traveling, they reside in McCall, Idaho a small mountain town near the Salmon River.

The house is located on literally the exact stretch of beach that was their absolute favorite vacation to Baja, when they rented a house a few doors down from this house. El Cardonal is an adorably charming little village, and is still mostly undiscovered. The town has grown to maybe the perfect size in our minds, with a couple of good restaurants and a small locally owned hotel. The Sea of Cortez here is very often flat, great for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. And the fishing in this area is exceptional.
This property in particular is exactly what Andy & Katy were looking for. A nice size lot (1.6 acres), with substantial beach frontage (200 feet) on a beautiful and very quiet beach. To the one side of the house is a large arroyo (desert wash area) that means no one will build on the beach to the southeast. To the northwest are a half dozen or so other beautiful beachfront houses before you reach the paved road and the edge of town.
The heated pool and outdoor living area provide year round outdoor enjoyment, and thanks to the wall (which serves as a windbreak) and windows to the ocean ("Las Ventanas del Mar"), you can even enjoy swimming and relaxing outside in the often windy winter months.
