Waterfront vacation home on Garrett Bay with private dock (summer season)

Enjoy one of the most beautiful views in all of Door County from The Chalet, a 3 bedroom, 2 bath pet friendly vacation home on Garrett Bay. The home has a large waterfront deck, private dock during the summer season, and a beach fire pit. There is a 10 person hot tub for warming up after your swim. Inside enjoy a large stone fire place, well-equipped kitchen with water views and three comfortable bedrooms. The Chalet is a perfect retreat with privacy. If you like to swim, kayak (two kayaks available), fish, boat, or just sit and enjoy nature this is the house for you. It is convenient to Ellison Bay and Gills Rock for restaurants, coffee, drinks, groceries, boat docks and much more. There is lots of green space between your home and the other home on the property (the fleetwing). There is one shared deck between both houses but each house has its own outdoor waterfront area and dock. It is Kid friendly, pet friendly, outdoor enthusiast friendly and the perfect quiet escape. It also offers superfast internet if you need to work during your stay.

This chalet was the perfect base for our Door County weekend. It’s beautiful, spotless, and incredibly comfortable, with stunning views over the lake. We loved starting our mornings with coffee by the fire as the sun came up, and ending the day with a relaxing soak in the hot tub. The location was ideal—close enough to explore the peninsula, yet perfectly peaceful for an up-north retreat. Highly recommend—10/10!

This property was far more than just a rental home. This was a truly once-in-a-lifetime family reunion. My five brothers and I traveled from all corners of the world, and this was the first time the six of us had been together in over 30 years. The manager was consistently responsive and this excellent communication made planning a massive global reunion feel simple and stress-free.The location itself, in the beautiful Door County area, is simply unparalleled. It provided a sense of peace and serenity that allowed us all to truly relax and reconnect.To us, this timing felt like a gift. As our parents face illness, the opportunity to gather the six brothers and share this precious time together was invaluable and deeply moving. We truly feel God guided us to this specific place to reunite our family and bring us closer.We highly recommend this beautiful home for any family or group looking to create lasting memories. We totally enjoyed this relaxing vacation at a well kept family home. It was clean and well kept. The hot tub was a plus as we looked out over the view of Lake Michigan! The house is very roomy with plenty of space for a large family. Nearby are hiking trails and plenty of quiet roads to bike on. There is an excellent farm to table, Italian restaurant in the neighborhood.-Della Porto. Communication with the owner was very easy. I would highly recommend this VRBO!

We enjoyed our stay, a quiet retreat near all the fun of door county. The cottage has all the details you need to grill and cook, we also enjoyed the hot tub and watching sunsets on the dock. The host Jen was responsive to questions and came to be sure we had a flash light during Saturday’s storm. Be sure to go to Ellison Bay’s Cider House and the cute KickAsh Bakery! We also loved Washington Island plus all the brew pubs and dining in Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and Baileys Harbor. Of course we also enjoyed Northern Sky theatre and golfing at Peninsula State Park. Lots to do but be sure to spend time just floating in the lake. Wonderful family vacation.

A Great Weekend

Because my husband was injured in a recent bicycle accident, this was not an active trip for us. The Chalet was perfect; great view, comfortable house, and restaurants close by. We strolled with our dog, saw some beautiful sunsets, and enjoyed watching birds at the two feeders while sitting by the bay. A very restorative getaway!

Girls getaway

We had the best time at this cozy cottage! The view is stunning, making for many slow mornings listening to the waves crash, and evening spent by the fire under the clearest skies and stars. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed, and close to everything. Jen’s recommendations for restaurants were wonderful and we enjoyed cooking meals in the sweet kitchen that reminded me of my summers at family cabins growing up. The beds were all super comfortable as well. We absolutely will be back and can’t wait to explore more!!

Get Away by the Bay

My husband, I and our Portuguese Water Dog spent a long weekend at the Chalet. The house was just as advertised, not new, but very comfortable, a fantastic view, and all the amenities we required. A bonus was finding the complete collection of Walter Farley’s “ Black Stallion” books in the bookcase. I read them all as a child and was delighted to see them again! Daisy the dog also gives the place “ four paws up”.

My spouse and I really enjoyed staying at the Chalet! The location was amazing, and being right by the water was delightful. We'll have to come back when the dock is in, and when we can kayak. Jen was a responsive and thoughtful host, and we greatly appreciate her hospitality.

Door County in the fall....

The property is located right on Lake/Bay. It is a beautiful location. The property is tired. The beds were really great for sleeping. The views from inside the house on the lake side were wonderful. It was a dreary time that we were there but it allowed us time to explore the parks and Washington Island. Wickman House was exceptional!

Beautiful location

The Chalet is located in wooded area on Garrett's Bay. It was quiet and peaceful. The Chalet is very well maintained, nicely decorated, with all the amenities you'd want in a lakefront cabin. The hot tub was an extra treat. There are a handful of restaurants, I highly recommend Blue Bear for breakfast, and drinking establishments, Cider House was great, the location does require some driving to points of intrest, though nothing is more than 30 minutes away. I highly recommend The Chalet for anyone looking for a quiet family retreat. I'm hoping to plan another stay next year with my sons family.

My family and I grew up spending summers in the Chalet. It is a second home to us. We love sharing the beautiful waterfront, amazing views, clear (cold) lake, the comfortable home and so much more with those new to Door County or those that have been coming for years...this is about as good as it gets!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The Chalet is perfectly located on a residential bay but close enough to the best that Door County has to offer. It offers the perfect mix of quiet nature, beautiful views with activities within very short dirves. Sister Bay, Ellison Bay and Gills rock (with ferries to Washington island) are the closest towns with so much to offer.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The shoreline and views, the nature and biking/hiking/kayaking/fishing/boating swimming opportunies right out your front door are unbeatable but for the neighboring home (The Fleetwing) the Garret Bay Rest or the 1230 on Garrett Bay (both a short walk down the bay. All of these homes are part of our family, come with great waterfront and private piers and we love to share with others. Garrett Bay and its views is the best of Northern Door
