WHAT TO SEE & DO IN PALMETTO: You may walk or bicycle to Emerson Point Preserve, a 365 acre preserve located at the tip of Snead Island in western Palmetto, a place where visitors can take in the beauty of Florida's wildlife. This park is usually sparsely occupied and it has a small beach.

SARASOTA, less than a 30 minute drive away, provides many Manhattan amenities, including the Sarasota Opera; the Ringling Mansion, Art Museum, School of Art, and Circus Museum which has old circus wooden wagons, and railroad cars. Downtown Sarasota offers numerous excellent restaurants, high end shopping and art galleries – more of these establishments may be found on St. Armand’s Key, just across the bridge over Sarasota Bay. Sarasota is also home to Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, which is renown for rescuing marine mammals and turtles, as well as research and education regarding marine resources.

ORLANDO, less than a 2 hour drive from your front door, where you can visit the newly re-opened Disney World and accompanying venues if it appears safe to you to go there.

BEACHES: a 36 minute drive to Ft. DeSoto's beautiful beaches. Ana Maria Island, Bradenton Beach, and Holmes Beach are all less than a 30 minutes away. Enjoy a day of shelling, sharks teeth are usually found on the beaches.

SPORTS: The Rays play baseball in Tropicana Field, 30 minute drive over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, drive another 30 minutes over the Howard Frankland Bridge to Tampa to watch the Bucs play football, or the Lightnings play ice hockey. Several Golf courses are within a 20 minute drive and Palmetto's Tennis Courts are a 20 minute walk away.
