Looking for a cozy mountain retreat that won’t break the bank? Welcome to our quirky, character-packed ranch home in Boone, NC—just minutes from Appalachian State University and Appalachian Regional Hospital, with flat access roads (no steep hills!) for worry-free winter travel.

This is not your cookie-cutter cabin. Built decades ago and full of vintage charm, it has some creaky corners and weathered tiles—but what it lacks in polish, it makes up for in soul.

Great Location

We had a great time. The hot tub was really nice after hiking all day. The location was perfect. Close to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway and downtown Boone.

Enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and roomy. Outside was good, enough parking for our group. Back bedrooms did get very warm at night. Alarm kept going off . No instruction on how to get it to stop

Amazing experience and exceptional customer service!

Our renting experience was exceptional. The owner was very personable and easy to communicate with. The home was just perfect for our family trip to celebrate my husbands birthday while he officiated volleyball at Appalachian State. The home has been renovated and has many upgrades. We enjoyed the hot tub and were able to bring our dogs with us. Large kitchen with all needed accessories. The home also has a pool even though the weather did not permit us to use it. We will be back to visit soon. You will not regret selecting this property.

It's a good property. A little bit on the older side. I would say it's best for families with kids or older adults who like to sit and catch up as it's spacious, there are games, and the area is quiet. Because it's a little bit on the older side, it was difficult to get a good and consistent cable connection. So if you're looking for more connectivity, it is not an ideal for that. If you're looking to unplug and relax this is a good place for that. It's also a really good base of operations being just on the outskirts of town, but still close enough in that it's only a few miles to a grocery store. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. They're great to reach out to if you have trouble restarting the water heater like we did. It was too cold to use the pool, but visually it's small. It appeared more designed for sitting in or splashing around a little bit. We also did not use the hot tub or any of the outside space because we were out and about each day. Still visually the patio and outdoor space in general appeared to be ideal for families with young kids or older adults who aren't really into swimming and like to hang out by the fire, splash around a bit in the pool during summer or chill in the hot tub.

Working back to back days in the heat. This property was an Oasis, dip in the pool, soak in the hot tub, and enjoy some music by the fire pit. What a find!

4-Day get away

Location was perfect for what I wanted, bike riding and fishing, everything was within 15 miles. The place was nice an clean, No real big issues to complain about.

It was okay. For the price I expected nicer accommodations. We did enjoy the hot tub.

My mom was fearful with all the exposed wiring. Also, the outlets on the bathrooms did not work. We had to dry our hair in the living room. Might wan't to get a measuring cup

4 nights turned into one night

My husband and I rented this property for what was supposed to have been a “late anniversary trip”. (He had surgery and we were unable to go on our actual anniversary). We were to stay Sunday and leave on Thursday. We arrived at a little after 4:00pm to check-in (like the posting said). I had never been given check-in instructions, so I assumed someone would be there. We arrive then we waited an hour and a half. No one came, and I still didn’t have access to the online check-in. I tried to call VRBO several times to find out what I was supposed to do, but to no avail. I was very angry. We had just driven over 2 hours and had been sitting in the driveway of this property. Finally, around 6pm my husband and I decided to go have dinner. We left a note on the door of the house and drove to eat. We hadn’t been gone but 3-4 minutes when our phone rang, and it was Christian. We both still feel that was very strange… he called so soon after we left, when we had been waiting almost 2 hours. So Weird. Anyway- He was there at the house, and would let us in. Once we got back there,and able to get into the back yard, the property was very overgrown. It hadn’t been mowed in a while. The pool was very dirty. Once inside, the floors looked like they hadn’t been mopped (and my bare feet were black from them) in months. However, the worst problem was- the smell. There was a horrible chemical type smell all in the house. Within 10 minutes of being inside the house my head was killing me. It felt like it permeated every orifice of my body, into my mouth and it made me very sick. I don’t know if they had sprayed for bugs (which is possible because my husband killed a HUGE black spider that was crawling on the bedroom wall) or what it was, but it made me very sick. We made it through one night. Had paid $1505 and had to leave. I’m still angry about the whole ordeal. One last thing- There are cameras there. It doesn’t feel private at all, and feels like such an invasion of privacy. I was so thankful to get out of there. It took 2 days for my head to quit hurting.

Do NOT reserve this property-

Husband and I were so excited to get away for a few days, we are 45-50 yrs old. Upon arrival house had junk piled along side of garage and located on a busy road behind a gravel/rock plant. Upon entering home, a pungent smell was everywhere. Windows were left open and only front door was found locked. Crumbs left on counter & floor from previous renter? Toothpaste in master bath sink, pet hair on comforter in master bedroom. Back yard that seems so nice in pic: had junk in yard, tall weeds grown up along pool and who knows when lawn was mowed. Husband was so grossed out by the uncleanness and odor of the home, we left property and drove into Boone to stay at the Hampton Hotel, (where we stayed the entire trip), Paid over $1500 for four nights,, the host never offered full refund, half or even a quarter refund. Host lives out of state and has no clue how bad his property is, nor seems to care as we spoke about the conditions on the phone. The reviews left on this home have to be fake, left by a friend or posted on the wrong home! Save yourself a ton of money and just stay in a hotel!

Perfect Mountain Getaway!

Christian's place was the perfect getaway! Close to town and restaurants and breweries! Quiet and peaceful! The pool was a tad chilly, bit not so much to be not enjoyed! The hot tub was perfect! Giant kitchen was stocked with everything we would need to cook dinners and large enough for plenty of cooks in the kitchen! Christian was also super easy to communicate with and totally helpful with any questions or concerns we had! Don't hesitate booking your stay here! Your only regret will be not staying longer!

Beautiful landscape, house and hot tub!

Wonderful week of rest and sightseeing! The house was clean with relaxed homey feeling and the hot tub was great. Front screen door latch was broken and had to keep it from latching or you couldn't exit the front door, but was told part was ordered. The pool was too cold, so some heat would make it heavenly, but later in summer it might be hot enough. and is beautiful!! Overall our stay was very pleasant and we would return to this home again. Close to everything with only short drive to wonderful, beautiful scenery, shopping and good restaurants!

We had a wonderful time in Boone. The house is very convenient to King St and was clean and had plenty of room. Christian called to let us know where everything was and also followed up to see if we enjoyed our stay. Will absolutely stay again!
