We had a great stay here. Loved how big the house was for our group. The kitchen had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the hot tub and sitting in the covered lanai. The neighborhood was wonderful. Went on morning walks and everyone was friendly.
It was quiet and private...just what we wanted! The home is bright and comfortable. And the hot tub is a bonus! For a wonderful day at a beautiful beach, be sure to take the ferry to Cayo Costa. We took the Tropical Star...fun!! We highly recommend Pine Island, and plan to return soon.
We loved our stay at Genesee Cottage on Pine Island. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed (except beach towels). We liked the convenient location at the center of Pine Island. We were near Pickleball courts and a public pool but on a quiet street with friendly neighbors. We hope to return.
Pine Island/Bokeelia is very interesting, and I am quite certain it has an interesting history.
The house itself was nice, relatively clean, and the location is perfect for those that desire privacy. Amenities were excellent compared to other rentals in this region we have stayed at. There is a dock to fish from (noseeum warning) but you need to wear the strongest deet possible, or be bitten alive. Fishing should be relatively good here, but we stayed at the wrong time ~ full moon. Tides were wonky, fish were M.I.A. and so we went elsewhere to fish.
House has everything you need, to include a hot tub, that is serviced, BONUS!
Kitchen (for the ladies that need to know) has above average utensils, but depending on how/what you cook, you may desire more. The owner even has a micro plane, go figure.
For some renters, if you have a boat to bring, hold on to your rig, because I am certain there are red/snook honey holes out there close by. My wife and I almost bought a bout just due to the location (almost).
There is a plethora of restaurants for dining, most are very casual, with a few up-scale. Kids will not be at a loss for food, and the locals are very nice for the most part. Anywhere you go there is always a grumpy individual, and unfortunately I found him. But he was the only one the entire week, a win-win in my book!.
Give this house a try, you will not be disappointed!
Great access to water and close fishing locations. Boat lift is easy to use. Property was roomy and very clean. The owners provide a ton of local resources in a pamphlet as well as instructions for things around the house. The hot tub was nice at the end of long days on the water also. It was also very nice to have the laundry available. Overall we had a great experience and would rent again
Very nice home with nature showing up in the backyard. We had manatees twice. Fish jumping, birds and the cute lizards. The only thing we would have liked that wasn't there were a couple of lounge chairs. Great location. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.
This is a really nice property overall! We would stay at this location again.
Pros: great neighborhood, quiet, canal access, amenities as noted in the listing are accurate, and a great location on the Island to get to all parts of the Island. We cooked dinner on the gas grill nearly every night and prepâd most of our breakfasts and lunches at the home during our 16 night stay. Enjoyed the hot tub too!
Cons: we had an issue with cleanliness in a couple areas of the home upon arrival. We could have had the property manager send cleaners over; however, it was more desirable for us to take care of the cleaning ourselves rather than being interrupted. The property manager provided an adjustment to the cleaning fee for our effort. We also found the king bed to be a bit too soft. It had great plushness but not supportive to our liking (and we are light weight people 140# and 110#). We would have tried the queen bed but the mattress was much too high off the floor for my wife.
Property was exactly as pictured and described. Excellently well-stocked with everything needed except your food. Very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The only downside was the fact that this is a house on stilts so carrying up luggage etc. was a bit of a problem for this older couple, but our fault that we didnât consider that ahead of time.
This is right in between Matlacha and Bokeelia Pier (which was where we would be spending most our time). The house was very clean. Any issues we had we addressed with the owner who was very responsive to our feedback. We spent so much time fishing we never had the chance to use the kayaks and bikes but they were available. The cupboards are stocked with lots of supplies which was great because we cooked at home most nights. We will definitely be back.
This property was perfect for a laid-back vacation. The house is comfortably furnished with everything you need. When traveling you never know what to expect in a mattress, right? The masterbedroom mattress is very comfortable!
We loved being able to fish from the dock, soak in the hot tub, ride bikes through the quiet & friendly neighborhood and discovering the many tortoise that inhabit the area.
We loved Pine Island. It is a beautiful island that has been preserved from commerical development. We plan to return.
The house was well equipped with everything we needed. Enjoyed the kayaks and the sup on the canal and creek. Pine Island is always relaxing. Communication with the manager/owner was very good.
We really enjoyed staying here with the canal and boat lift. Note- the channel getting in and out is long and only 2â deep at low tide! There are channel markers and we had no problem in our bay boat. There were two kayaks, one stand up paddle board, fishing poles and two bikes also available for use, which is very nice. We plan on coming back, as we love this area! Thank you!
Easy to get to and convenient to island amenities. Very skinny water getting in and out so remember that if your bringing or renting a boat. We watched the tides a didnât have any trouble with a 20 deck boat.
We will definitely consider coming back.
GREAT Home and well-appointed and maintained. Awesome instructions and details we provided. One thing for boaters: The channel getting out from this location is very very skinny. We had a 25 with twin engines which would not make it through the looooong channel. Kind of a bummer as it was the main reason we booked the home, so make sure you are bringing the "right size" vessel!
Loved the daily routine here. Fished, walked, boating, just a great location. Neighbor was very nice and the management of the property was very responsive and attentive and cooperative. Just loved it all.
