Located in Olmstedville, NY, a short 9 miles/ 12-minute drive to Gore Mountain Ski Area, this charming 1880s family farmhouse has been lovingly renovated, including a new roof, a brand new bathroom, all new hardwood and tile floors downstairs, new carpeting throughout the upstairs, and all new mattresses on the beds. Yet with vintage features and decor the home still maintains its old farmhouse charm.
MAXIMUM SIX (6) GUESTS! This old house runs on a septic system and cannot handle large groups. This guest maximum is strictly enforced. Any violations will result in immediate removal with no refund.
The kitchen has a new tile floor, all new appliances including refrigerator, range/oven, over-the-range microwave, coffee maker, blender and toaster oven. The kitchen has a long Stickley table and chairs. Located just off the kitchen is a screened-in front porch for relaxing on those summer days and nights.
The bathroom has been completely renovated and updated to include a new walk-in shower (sorry, no tub) and a new vanity. The new stackable washer/dryer is conveniently located in this first-floor bathroom.
The downstairs has a large, open living space where you can sit and relax on those cold winter nights after a long day of skiing. Also located downstairs through a pair of French doors is a separate bedroom area with a full-sized bed, flat screen TV, and a window air conditioning until during the summer months. This bedroom includes stunning views of Gore Mountain and a glimpse of the 40 acres that are yours to hike and roam.
**Please note that for safety reasons guests are not allowed to use the wood-burning stove. **
The renovated upstairs includes a bedroom with one king bed and a window air conditioning unit during the summer months, a common area with a pair of twin beds** (great for kids!), along with a sitting area for watching another flat screen TV or relaxing. The upstairs also has a fun and private hideaway space with another full-sized bed and small flat screen TV.
(**Please note that this twin bed area is a common space people must walk through to access the king bedroom door on one side and the opening to the small hideaway bedroom space on the other side.)
Please note that this old farmhouse was built in the 1880s and it has a VERY steep staircase to the 2nd floor. (see photos) Those with mobility concerns may want to consider using the first-floor bedroom.
Being that this old farmhouse is located in the very heart of the Adirondack Mountains, critters--both crawling and flying--are a possibility. Once the heat goes on, ladybugs or cluster flies can "cluster" against the upstairs windows on occasion. They are completely harmless and very common up here in mountain homes. We pay a monthly service to help keep it in check, but it's a fact of life in many residences in this neck of the woods. (Handheld vacuums are available on both floors for easy removal!) Please keep in mind that this is a 19th-century farmhouse, not a hotel. No refunds given for encounters with nature!
