Major Holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years, require a minimum 5 night stay Near Asheville Healers Paradise This is a real three story log cabin on approximately 3 1/2 acres of land 12 miles from downtown Asheville. This home is perfect for large groups preferably seeking respite and healing or ideal for small weddings. The property includes the cabin, a completely renovated barn which is ideal for a gatherings or class/workshops. Plenty of room to camp. The large barn room has been upgraded with a new living room set and a queen bed.
Perfect for hiking and bicycling groups to head out and enjoy the surrounding beauty. Home base is cozy and rustic with a big bunk room and lounge/meeting area as well all the comforts of home.
Briefly:
1) This place does not comfortably sleep 30, there were 7 true beds and the rest were futons and pull out couches in shared sleeping areas. There were no extra pillows or clean linens for the extra beds.
2) The place was not clean. From bathrooms, to bedding, it was dirty. We found food In one of the beds-between the sheets-and dirty laundry under another bed.
3) The property manager was kind, helpful and available via text, but we arrived for check in at 5:30 (it was listed to be available at 4:30) and there were people still cleaning at 7 pm. This was not a last minute booking-we reserved the house several weeks in advance. We were unable to see the whole property until we returned from dinner st 10 pmâhad we seen all the spaces earlier in the day we would have left and found hotel rooms elsewhere.
4) There is a barn space (which smelled very bad) with pull out couches and a bunk room, but there was no restroom and only a porta-potty at the door for people staying there.
Property was as described, owner takes great pains to give a clean and inviting property. For our group requirements, we were all comfortable and had plenty of space. Kids had outside room to play and roam. Location central to many area attractions in this part of NC. Kitchens were well equipped, so we could create all sorts of meals Very pleased with the vacation rental.
Cons far outweigh the pros.
The property manager, Lynn, has issues. Trying to keep emotions to a minimum with this review but she obviously very new to short term rentals (was concerned on the front end with only 1 review. Makes sense now). But the home is blistered in âLive Laugh Loveâ and various âHealerâ shakras. After our interactions, that is comically misrepresented.
There wasnât a single piece of documentation or note on app telling us how to close this house up. If there was it was not visible to 15 guys that meticulously cleaned up prior to leaving. She wrote me hateful texts calling me âout of my mindâ for not locking her doors. I stay in short term rentals often and this was unorganized as they come. I wouldnât stay here again if she paid me.
Onto the property.
Things to consider before renting this place:
1) Itâs nearly impossible to get an Uber/Lyft (20 mins from Asheville) so prepare accordingly. Youâll not want to spend a ton of time there.
2) TV didnât work. Was blamed for that from the property manager. There was a small tv (monitor size) upstairs that we plugged in that worked.
3) Hot and muggy in the house when we arrived - took hours to cool down (thankful for the rain)
4) âmagic barnâ not magical. Bunk room is dingy and adjoins via curtain to a room with straw floor that is reminiscent of a Held an inch of water from the rain storm. Solo cups were used as floor savers.
5) no water pressure in the upstairs shower. Not just a little, none.
6) toilet in main floor flushed very weak and a representation of how poor the condition of the home.
We enjoyed the privacy of the property and Smokey and the Pig BBQ that was nearby. Plenty of better options in Asheville.
