It was 80 plus degrees inside by 2pm every day. Drove to Walterboto to Walmart and bought fans. Spent all day Sunday cleaning the floor but water came up black every time. Lot.
Of dust and dog hair under beds and on floor. It was overpriced for what it was. I wouldn't do it again.
First let me start by saying the price on this listing was awesome for the location, lot and size home. However after our stay I understand why it was priced so low. We have a toddler and I was concerned for her health and safety. Generally it just seems like a ton of people have been in and out of this home with little to no upkeep. I loved the fact that they allowed pets, which do cause more wear and tear to a rental. But doesnât seem like they are putting money back into the home to keep it updated or added cleaning measures which are needed for pet-friendly rentals. PROS- Location & Home Size / Layout - Allowed pets - Stocked Kitchen - Nice TV in Living Room - Cool retro Edisto artwork - Screened in porch CONS- Not very clean; all the basics seem to be getting done but VERY neglected on the detailsâŠwindow sills, blinds, lamp shades & top of the refrigerator were all VERY dusty. So was the HVAC return which was on the wall about waist heightâŠbasically toddler eye level. - A fresh coat of paint interior & exterior would do wonders for this place. Handprints/smudges all over the doors and trim. -Some sketchy boards on outdoor stairs & decks - Most window treatments were broken in one way or another - Mattresses & Comforters weâre old & outdated and uncomfortable (only used queen & king; canât speak for the bunk beds) - One of the bathroom shower doors did not close so the floor got soaked every time we showered - Lastly, but most concerning, was the evidence of mold and water damage in the hall bath (mold around the HVAC vent and the paint was bubbling and peeling). I suspect that this home may have not been properly remediated after Hurricane Matthew. My daughter and I both began exhibiting signs of mold exposure about 2 days into our stay. Headaches, coughing, sneezing, itchy eyes, etc. There were some snafus with the rental company when we checked in (didnât have any keys but that didnât really matter because the sliding back door was open when we got there). However, everyone we spoke to at the rental company was very nice, courteous and easy to get in touch with. Hopefully the owner will be able to invest more back into this property to bring it up to todays rental standards.
