Was on the island for the week for my sisterâs wedding at a relativeâs home. This place was perfect. Close to the beach, quiet street, my dogs couldnât get enough of the backyard. I was so impressed that the backyard was escape proof! I didnât do any cooking but the house seemed well supplied and comfy.

Misleading description of property location
Property was located directly next to 1. A garbage dump and 2. A fire station and government office. We would have wanted to leave the windows and doors open at times to get that nice May breeze on the island. But, we couldnât because the noise from the garbage dump and the fire station was overwhelming. Lots of cars coming and going, the sound of garbage clanking as itâs being dropped off at the dump, and big commercial diesel trucks driving by every 5 minutes. Not exactly a getaway at the beachâŠI wish the property owner would have mentioned this as we wouldnât have stayed here.
Unkempt outdoor yards and house in need of a power wash
Inside reminded us of our family beach vacations in the 80s. Painted paneling walls and antique/thrift store finds painted white. But clean and spacious. Biggest disappointment was the two reasons we rented it. The screened porch and the fenced in back yard. Both totally overgrown, ankle high grass, knee high weeds, overgrown vegitation....thought we could enjoy the fire pit, but the overgrown yard made for misquito overpopulation. Couldn't last more than 5 minutes out there. The house is on a corner, the other 3 are all municipal...a steady barage of trucks and service vehicles. There was more loud traffic on Holmes St than Hwy 174!!! Very disappointed for our first visit to Edisto!
The fenced in yard for the dog was great, it is fenced in completely so that you can open the back door and let the dog go down the stairs and out into the yard. I enjoyed sitting on the front porch and watching traffic (more golf carts, joggers, and cyclists than cars). I saw deer twice run from under/behind the house to across the road. I only heard noise from the recycling place around 7am most days when I was awake. It was not loud enough to wake me up if I was still asleep and was not a problem for me any other time. I drove to the beach because I like the accesses on the end, but I estimate itâs about a 3 block walk to the beach access directly across from the road the house is on. I will definitely be back. A couple ideas for improvement would be a couch in the living room (currently only love seats) and the recliner doesnât seem to be functioning properly. When you recline, it actually angles forward with your feet hanging down. The shower is pretty small and hard to use without the shower curtain sticking to you, one of those curved rods may help with that.
The property was as advertised. We needed a pet friendly property and this property fit the bill. We were there during a very cold period on the island. We had a frozen pipe issue and the property manager was very quick to get a plumber out to repair the problem. The property itself was a little older and in need of some updating, but all in all it was clean and suitable. One quick and easy suggested update would be to get a new tv as the one that is there is very pixelated. We would use this property again.
this was as described in add .the house was great. Loved the fenced back yard . the fire dept and the traffic were a little close . i would stay there again.
There was nothing wrong with the property; it was clean and in a good location. It was across from the recycle center and next door to the fire department; however, I did not see that as a problem and was never disturbed by the surroundings. I would stay there again. It had a nice fenced in back yard so I could take the family dog. The property had a sign in the back yard to clean up after your pet and the owners left bags for cleanup. I walked the property when I first got there and it was clear that previous tenants did not see the sign as there were quite a few remnants from past pets. While the house was clean, the barbecue grill looked like it hadn't been used in a few years and I failed to examine it before I went and bought the steaks and it really wasn't usable without an extensive cleanup so I ended up having to use the broiler. Many of the utensils had to be cleaned before they could be used. The overall place could use some updated furnishings: the couches were not pleasant to sit on. The beds were comfortable; one bedroom had no closet. The ad said it was a fully stocked kitchen but when we went to cook a meal, we discovered it was fairly inadequate: small fry pans - not one large enough to cook a slice of bacon without cutting the bacon in half; and no colander to rinse seafood. I recognize previous tenants probably went out to the fine restaurants nearby but the kitchen could really use some updated utensils. I would stay there again due to the location (two blocks from the ocean) and the yard for the dog which he shared with three or four deer every night about dusk. There was a nice front porch but really no furnishings. It just needs some TLC.
